Superman's Saiyan little brother

Chapter 603: Chapter 602: Going with the Flow and Inquiry

"Oh my God! How could this happen? I must be dreaming..." The woman in Hellboy's grasp widened her eyes, unable to process the sudden transformation of her surroundings into ruins. Although superheroes like the Avengers existed and were widely known, for many ordinary people, the supernatural world still felt distant. Moreover, superheroes, unlike demons, did not evoke such fear, and it was rare for ordinary people to witness their destructive power firsthand.

This woman, a staunch atheist, had always believed that so-called superheroes and supernatural events were merely advanced science, especially since the first person to claim to be a superhero was Tony Stark. However, confronted with these events that defied her understanding, she stood paralyzed, forgetting even to struggle.

Meanwhile, Hellboy paid no attention to the woman he was holding and instead approached the demon, lifting the bloodied creature effortlessly.

"Ah!" This scream did not come from the demon but from the woman, who, upon regaining her senses and seeing the demon's horrific state, let out a cry before fainting.

The demon, hearing the scream, slowly regained consciousness, staring at Hellboy's massive demonic visage. Struggling to speak, the demon stammered, "Who... are you? Are you trying to stop our plan?!"

"Stop your plan? Why don't you tell me what your plan is? Maybe I could even help you complete it," Hellboy said, his eyes glinting with curiosity.

"Our plan... No! I didn't mean to say... I didn't betray you! No..." The demon, reacting instinctively to Hellboy's words, began to leak foul blood. The corrosive substance rapidly spread across the demon's body, emitting smoke as it burned, causing the demon to panic and scream, unable to stop the deterioration.

Hellboy tightened his grip on the demon, not intending to let go, but the corrosive force from the demon's body began to spread to Hellboy's right hand. Fortunately, it affected his right hand, which could withstand the corrosion, unlike his left hand. Despite resisting the corrosive force, Hellboy couldn't prevent the demon from dying in his grasp, consumed by the strange energy.

"Power from Hell... It seems someone from the Hell dimension is targeting Earth. But why focus on this woman? Could she also be a target?" Hellboy mused, watching as the demon's body dissolved completely, leaving only a wisp of smoke. He sensed the presence of a powerful force but couldn't pinpoint its exact source.

Hellboy surveyed the area. Some supernatural beings had left the bar before Hellboy acted, curious about his next move. However, after witnessing Hellboy's display of power, they quickly fled, unwilling to risk getting involved in a dimensional conflict.

"It seems there are no new leads to follow. I should take her with me, but where to?" Hellboy pondered, glancing at the unconscious woman. Returning to the military base was out of the question, especially after Constantine's visit. The military was likely preparing to relocate, leaving Hellboy to find Constantine.

However, Hellboy had come to this bar because he couldn't find Constantine. Now, it seemed he was back to square one, with only the woman as an addition.

"Forget it, let's just leave this place," Hellboy muttered, deciding to move on. The area had become a wasteland, making it unsuitable to stay.

Shortly after leaving the bar's ruins, Hellboy stopped and scanned his surroundings. The area was eerily quiet, and the streetlights in the distance were flickering out one by one, as if something sinister was approaching.

Despite the ominous atmosphere, Hellboy showed no fear. As a being from the Hell dimension, such things didn't scare him. He sneered, "You lot have guts. It's been a while since I've killed demons this weak. Yet you dare come in numbers to die?"

"Still, this confirms my suspicion: this woman must be crucial..." Hellboy's eyes narrowed as he spoke. The darkness continued to encroach, and the last streetlight near Hellboy flickered out. Shadowy figures advanced toward him.

With a swift motion, Hellboy punched the air, releasing a powerful shockwave that blasted everything away, splattering blood and leaving eerie marks on the ground. The streetlights in the distance were blown out, but the area brightened slightly, the shadows cleared.

"None survived? So weak... Low-level demons have no brains," Hellboy sneered, glancing at the shattered bodies. He held no regard for these weaklings; they posed no threat.

He realized that the demons he had just encountered were not true powerhouses but mere cannon fodder capable of crossing the dimensional gap to Earth.

Just as Hellboy finished dealing with the demons, Constantine appeared beside him, making Hellboy tense momentarily.

"What are you doing here? You're not at the military base? Why were you looking for me?" Constantine asked, scrutinizing Hellboy with an odd expression, though Hellboy noticed nothing unusual.

"I couldn't just stay at the base, waiting for you to use me as bait, endangering innocents with those hellish creatures, could I?" Hellboy retorted, glaring at Constantine. If he wasn't sure Constantine had a reason to be here, he might have thrown a punch.

"I'm glad you're willing to cooperate. But what's with the woman? Didn't take you for the type, especially being a military asset," Constantine remarked, his eyes flicking to the unconscious woman on Hellboy's shoulder.

"I stumbled upon her. It seems someone powerful in the Hell dimension has plans, and a demon was chasing her when I intervened. After I took her, these creatures relentlessly pursued us. I think she might hold some secret. If she's useful, will you stop using me as bait?" Hellboy asked, staring intently at Constantine.

"If she's useful, I'll agree," Constantine replied without hesitation, surprising Hellboy with his quick acquiescence.

"Are you serious?" Hellboy asked, skeptical of Constantine's reputation.

"Of course. If she has valuable information and I continue using you as bait, you can tell the Saiyan next time you see him to kill me," Constantine declared, making Robert a witness to his promise.

"Let's hope you keep your word," Hellboy said, still wary but recognizing he had little choice. The situation was in Constantine's hands; otherwise, Hellboy wouldn't have sought him out.

"Come, let's leave this bloody place," Constantine said, opening a portal and leading them to another hideout rather than the magic base, wary of the Shadow Hunter faction.

With his newfound wealth, Constantine had multiple hideouts. He didn't want his activities scrutinized by others, so having several options was essential.

The real reason Constantine readily agreed to Hellboy's request was that, after interrogating the hellish creatures, he found that his mystical connection with Hellboy and the Hell dimension had been severed. This made further use of Hellboy as bait impossible.

"Why did you knock her out? Was she noisy?" Constantine asked, lighting a cigarette and glancing at the woman now lying on a sofa.

"She fainted out of fear, not because I knocked her out!" Hellboy grumbled.

"Figures, seeing your appearance would scare any ordinary person," Constantine chuckled, exhaling smoke onto the woman's face.

The woman woke up, coughing violently, and upon realizing her situation, she recoiled in terror, eyes darting around in panic.

"Demon! No! Stay away!" she screamed upon seeing Hellboy, prompting Constantine to cover his ears in exasperation.

"Calm down; we mean you no harm. If we did, you wouldn't have woken up," Constantine said loudly, waving a hand dismissively. "He might look like a demon, but he's not a bad guy. At least not to you. He's from the military, and he saved you. There's no need to be afraid."

"Military demon?" The woman, initially more terrified by the revelation of Hellboy's demonic nature, hesitated upon hearing he was with the military.

"It's complicated why he works for the military, but you can trust he's not your enemy. Now, can you tell us why the demons were after you? I don't mean him; I mean the ones chasing you," Constantine gently prodded, trying to coax her into sharing her story.
