Chapter 437: Chapter 437: Unable to Escape!
"What?!" As the dark space was broken, a cry of surprise rang out. Robert wasn't unfamiliar with this voice; it was Tohru's.
Tohru couldn't believe that he had been cautious enough, hiding in such a dark, secluded place, yet he was still found. And the ones who found him were the two people he feared most.
Previously, Tohru hid here to avoid being discovered by Robert and Clark. Despite having had his shadow soldiers consume numerous shadows, he still wasn't confident that his soldiers could defeat Robert and Clark.
Tohru adhered to the strategy of gathering resources and biding his time, believing that making his shadow soldiers stronger was always the right move. If they could eventually overpower Robert and Clark, it would be even better! However, Tohru hadn't expected to be found like this. He regretted not choosing a more populated area.
Because this place was an abandoned district with no people, Tohru hadn't stationed shadow soldiers nearby. He thought that if someone discovered the shadow soldiers in this abandoned area, it would only draw more attention, clearly indicating that something was wrong here.
Tohru had thought it over and decided against using his shadow soldiers, but in the end, Robert and Dragon's team found the area without noticing anything suspicious outside.
"Buzz!" As the cry of surprise sounded, Tohru quickly reacted. He began using his dark powers to control the dark space, trying to disappear again.
Tohru knew that fighting Robert and Clark now was not a good idea, especially with so many others around. So he decided to find a way to escape first.
"Poof!" Just as the dark space's power burst out, a ki blast filled with sharp, destructive force pierced through the dark space like a sword.
Shifting the dark space's position wasn't easy unless he canceled it and created a new one elsewhere. Tohru had painstakingly moved the dark space bit by bit to this place, intending to use it as a cover to escape. But now that Robert had shattered it, the dark power dissipated, revealing Tohru.
"Swish!" As soon as the dark space vanished, Tohru tried to turn into a shadow and merge into the underground shadows to leave.
"Bang!" However, in the next moment, Tohru's ethereal body collided with something solid, making him dizzy as he looked at the ground, puzzled about why he couldn't penetrate it.
Naturally, this was Robert's doing. He had dealt with shadow army generals before and knew their abilities well. While there were differences in strength, their skillsets were essentially the same.
Even though the shadow soldiers could consume shadows to strengthen themselves, it didn't mean Tohru could do the same. His strength lay in controlling the shadow soldiers, who would never betray him no matter how strong they became.
So, when the dark space appeared, Robert instantly created a telekinetic barrier to seal the area completely, preventing Tohru from escaping.
However, Tohru was stronger than expected, surpassing the generals of the shadow army Robert had faced before, possibly related to his own innate strength.
"Hey! He's my opponent!" As Tohru stood there, bewildered, Robert stopped Clark, reminding him with annoyance.
If the enemy were too strong, Robert wouldn't mind fighting alongside Clark. But now, it was clear Tohru wasn't at that level yet. While Tohru was strong, he wasn't formidable enough to warrant Clark's involvement.
"Alright, he's yours." Clark thought for a moment and then stepped back. He had considered intervening but knew Robert's desire to fight far exceeded his own. Given Robert's efforts in finding Tohru, it would be unfair to take his opponent away.
"Bang!" Just as Clark agreed, another thud sounded. Tohru's body transformed into a shadow, reappearing at the edge of a building, clutching his head and glaring at an invisible wall with a grim expression.
Tohru had tried to escape again but failed, making him realize that escaping from Robert and Clark was not easy. He understood that his strength alone wasn't enough to contend with them, especially with so many others present.
"I remember you were once a warrior. How is it that the stronger you get, the more afraid you are to fight?" Robert shook his head in disappointment, addressing Tohru.
When Robert first encountered Tohru, he was an ordinary martial artist, full of bizarre move names and always announcing his attacks loudly. Though weak, Tohru had the spirit of a true warrior, with his own pursuits and determination, never fleeing from a powerful enemy.
Hearing Robert's words, Tohru fell silent. In knowing he couldn't escape, Tohru seemed to actually listen to Robert. He couldn't pinpoint when he had become like this.
After injecting the super-soldier serum, Tohru's personality had changed to some extent, but not to the point of being this afraid of battle.
"Well, it seems I have no other choice..." Tohru took a deep breath and smiled at Robert. "Honestly, after our first fight, I've always wanted to get back at you and give you a good beating. I wonder if I'll get that chance this time!"
"Bang!" As Tohru finished speaking, Robert punched behind himself, sending a figure flying into a building, which then collapsed.
Tohru's body turned into a shadow and disappeared again. The one sent flying was Tohru, who had been talking while preparing to attack.
Even though he realized his transformation, Tohru wouldn't change just because of Robert's words. Especially when cornered, he would use every trick to find a way to escape, and stealth attacks wouldn't shame him.
Unfortunately, Tohru's attack was entirely seen through by Robert. Without the dark space, Tohru's dark power was too obvious to hide from Robert. Unless he could surprise-attack like his shadow soldiers, he had no chance.
"Hiding in there, huh? Heh..." Robert shook his head, sending a ki blast towards the dust cloud.
In mid-air, the ki blast suddenly changed direction, aiming at the side. A dark force erupted to counter it but was ultimately dispersed.
"Boom!" Another explosion occurred, causing Uncle, who was watching from a distance, to swallow nervously and retreat. The battle was too dangerous for him, even as a spectator.
"You intend to hide your strength like this?" Robert frowned at the explosion, dissatisfied.
Tohru hadn't shown his true power. Robert sensed that Tohru was stronger than the shadow army generals, perhaps even surpassing the top Hell demon lords he had encountered.
But the power Tohru displayed was far below that level, only equivalent to a high-level demon, which even Tony Stark could defeat!
Robert didn't understand why Tohru hid his strength at this point. It would be better to fight fully.
"Swish!" Without a word from Tohru, Robert's body vanished, appearing beside Tohru and throwing a punch.
If Tohru wouldn't use his true power, Robert would just kill him outright. He didn't believe Tohru wouldn't use his full strength when facing death!
"Bang!" Tohru's body was sent flying, crashing into the ground, creating a crater, with dark energy dispersing and blood splattering, yet he still didn't use his full power.
"Then let's go again!" Robert said, appearing high in the air and then in front of Tohru, punching him into the ground.
"Boom!"
The terrifying force shook the earth, shattering Tohru's body and burying him deeper. If not for the dark energy sustaining his life, Tohru would be dead.
"Bang!" Suddenly, Tohru unleashed all his power. A strong dark force healed his body and turned into a drill, tunneling deeper into the earth!
This was Tohru's plan. He hadn't used his full power, knowing he wouldn't win this fight. So he first ambushed Robert, then hid his strength to avoid giving Robert satisfaction, hoping to provoke him and find a way to break through the barrier using both their strengths.
Tohru's plan was nearly perfect. His sudden burst of power was indeed strong, reaching the level of a Hell lord or even a chief deity.
"Crack!" Robert's telekinetic barrier cracked, showing Tohru's plan worked halfway. But only halfway.
Tohru might have forgotten that when attacking the barrier, Robert wouldn't just stand by. When Tohru's power erupted, Robert knew his plan.
So, when the barrier cracked, Robert appeared beside Tohru, kicking him into the air while restoring the barrier.
No one said a cracked barrier couldn't be repaired. Robert could continuously supply his telekinetic energy.
This was Robert's way of protecting Earth during battles. While the nearby buildings would be damaged, the Earth's overall safety was maintained, as long as he had the strength to do so...
"Damn it!" In the sky, Tohru glared at Robert. He hadn't expected his long-prepared plan to fail, still unable to escape!
