Chapter 434: Chapter 434: Peter and His Father Reunited

Peter Parker knew that if Norman Osborn's condition weren't so dire—if he weren't on the brink of death—he wouldn't have been so desperate. Norman had taken a dark path, willing to sacrifice everything to save his son Harry Osborn with Peter's blood. Peter was determined to prevent any misuse of his blood. He didn't believe that anything created from his blood would surpass his own strength.

Hearing Peter's offer, Harry Osborn's face grew even more bitter. He hadn't expected Peter to willingly offer his blood, which filled Harry with shame and sorrow. He wondered if things might have been different had Norman chosen to talk to Peter instead of hunting him down. But this thought was futile. At the time, Peter couldn't have revealed he was Spider-Man, and Norman couldn't have revealed he was the Green Goblin, especially after taking the serum.

"Peter..." Harry's emotions grew increasingly complex. He stared blankly at Peter, unable to find the right words. Peter didn't rush him, waiting patiently for Harry to process everything. After a long pause, Harry finally spoke. "I'm sorry, Peter. I need some time alone to think. Thank you."

"Okay." Peter nodded, understanding that such matters couldn't be resolved quickly. With his condition improving, Peter resumed patrolling, albeit limiting himself to the vicinity of Oscorp, partly out of concern for Harry. Though he couldn't face strong enemies yet, he could still handle the Shadow Soldiers and help ordinary people in distress.

Harry had many things to deal with—Norman's burial, keeping his identity secret, Oscorp's future direction, his own health, and how to interact with Peter. All these required Harry's careful consideration. He probably wouldn't seek out Peter unless his health deteriorated further.

As Peter's condition improved, he patrolled the streets as usual. Wary of Harry's situation, he confined his patrols to the area around Oscorp. He didn't want anything to happen to Harry at this critical time.

In the darkness, Peter shot a web with a flash of electricity, hitting a shadowy figure. The powerful current sent the Shadow Soldier flying. Nearby, a terrified passerby, who had been targeted by the creature, screamed and fled, not even noticing Spider-Man's presence.

The Shadow Soldier, its body crackling with electricity, tried to retreat into the darkness but found its abilities hampered. The electric current restricted it, preventing it from fully dissipating into shadow. The Shadow Soldiers had some intelligence but mostly acted on instinct and Tohru's orders.

Realizing Peter was charging at it, the Shadow Soldier tried to flee, its body shrinking as the electric current clashed with its dark power. Once the current was exhausted, it would merge back into the darkness, though much smaller.

"Trying to escape?" Peter's eyes lit up. For the first time, he had cornered a Shadow Soldier to this extent. He saw a chance to capture it, perhaps using a lightning web to extract valuable information. Quickening his pace, Peter pursued the creature. However, the Shadow Soldier's familiarity with the dark was superior to Peter's, even with JARVIS's guidance. It darted into a corner and vanished, the darkness erasing the remaining current and allowing it to disappear.

"Darn, it got away. These dark creatures are really tricky!" Peter frowned, looking around. "JARVIS, where are we? I don't remember there being such a large abandoned underground area in New York."

"This is an abandoned subway station, about a thousand meters from Oscorp. It was a haven for homeless people until recently, when those dark creatures killed them all," JARVIS explained. Peter sighed and prepared to leave.

"Hmm?" Just as Peter was about to leave, he sensed something amiss. He looked deeper into the abandoned station, where he thought he heard a faint explosion.

"JARVIS, has the entire station been abandoned? Is there anything deeper inside?" Peter asked cautiously.

"The area you're looking at is blocked by debris. The homeless only lived in the accessible parts, and there's no information about the deeper sections. But it's possible someone or something is inside," JARVIS replied. Peter's frown deepened.

"JARVIS, keep an eye on the signal. If there's any sign of disconnection, alert Tony and the others immediately," Peter decided to investigate, sensing that the faint explosion wasn't his imagination. If someone significant was hiding here, he needed to find out.

"Understood, Spider-Man." JARVIS promptly sent the location to Tony Stark and others as a precaution.

"This blockage won't stop me!" Peter moved deeper into the subway, quickly reaching a pile of debris. He noticed that it wasn't randomly placed but intentionally blocked the path. Climbing over the debris, Peter made his way through a small gap at the top.

Once inside, Peter saw a distant light—proof of habitation. "Click!" As Peter moved towards the light, he noticed two cameras turning towards him, followed by two robots charging at him, their arms transforming into guns and firing without hesitation.

"Zap! Zap!" The robots didn't fire regular bullets but lasers, which, although not as powerful as Norman Osborn's, were more effective than ordinary bullets. Laser weapons had the advantage of not needing external supplies, making them ideal for such a hidden location.

Peter easily dodged the lasers, shooting two electric webs that hit the robots, causing a loud explosion that echoed through the subway. The commotion quickly drew the attention of the people inside.

A middle-aged man soon appeared, his face filled with wariness as he looked at Peter. Upon seeing Spider-Man's suit, the man froze. Peter also froze upon seeing the man's face, which bore a resemblance to his own. It was a face he vaguely remembered—his father, Richard Parker.

Richard Parker had been hiding in this abandoned subway for many years. He had once worked for Oscorp, researching a cure for the Osborn family's disease. When his research bore fruit, Richard realized the potential dangers and chose to test it on his own genes instead of Norman's. Fearing for his family's safety due to Norman's increasing pressure, Richard fled with his wife, taking all his research.

However, his wife died in an accident, leaving Richard alone to continue his research in hiding. He remained aware of the outside world, ensuring his research on spiders reached Peter through Harry Osborn's package. He also learned that Peter was Spider-Man.

"You are..." Seeing the familiar face, Peter's heart sank. He felt no joy or the emotion of a long-awaited reunion. Instead, he thought of Harry Osborn, understanding the complexity of his feelings. It was a truth Peter didn't want to face, similar to Harry not wanting to know Peter was Spider-Man.

Peter deduced the source of his powers. His abilities weren't a coincidence but a result of Oscorp's research—a deliberate arrangement.

"Peter, is it really you?" Richard Parker's voice trembled as he walked towards Peter, calling out his name.

"What is going on?" Peter removed his mask, trying to stay calm. He wanted to know the truth. If Richard Parker was at fault, then Peter and Harry shared a similarly tragic fate—they were both not entirely innocent.
