Superman's Saiyan little brother

Chapter 433: Chapter 433: Complex Emotions

Tony Stark didn't comment on Peter Parker's decision. They were comrades, partners in battle, but it didn't mean Tony could make life-altering decisions for Peter. Such crucial choices had to be made by oneself; external decisions could never compare to one's own choices.

Thus, Peter Parker spent several days recovering in the nutrient therapy pod, finally regaining basic mobility. Although not fully recovered, he was well enough to avoid issues as long as he didn't fight strong opponents.

Peter Parker then took the well-preserved remains of Norman Osborn to see Harry Osborn. However, Harry was neither at school nor at home; he was at Oscorp dealing with business matters. With Norman Osborn missing for a long period again, Harry had to handle Oscorp's affairs. Fortunately, Norman had been gradually transferring power to Harry, grooming him to manage Oscorp and even transferring shares to him, paving the way for Harry's future.

Norman Osborn had long prepared for both death and the transfer of power. His only wish was to see Harry's body healed, even at the cost of his own life. However, Norman died before he could help Harry recover.

Peter knew where Harry was but chose not to go to Oscorp, as bringing the Goblin-armored remains of Norman Osborn there would have a significant impact on the company. Instead, Peter waited at Harry's home.

Late at night, Harry Osborn returned home exhausted, his mind a blur. He wondered about the meaning of keeping control of Oscorp with his frail body. Without Norman's help, it was impossible for Harry to make everyone in Oscorp follow his lead, and fighting against those greedy individuals was mentally and physically draining, especially given Harry's poor health.

When Harry entered his home and turned on the light, he habitually headed for the couch, planning to rest there before taking a bath and going to bed. However, he was startled to see a figure sitting on the couch. Recognizing who it was, his eyes widened in shock. "Spider-Man?! What are you doing here?!"

Harry was naturally alarmed. After all, Spider-Man was Norman's target and had previously injured him. Harry's attitude toward Spider-Man had long changed; now he even suspected Spider-Man had come for revenge, thinking Norman's identity had been exposed.

"I'm here to see you," Peter sighed, pointing to a nearby coffin. "Or rather, I'm here to return him."

"Him? Return?" Harry looked confused, following Peter's gesture to the coffin. A bad feeling surged within him. He rushed to the coffin and opened it, seeing the mutilated remains of Norman Osborn.

Despite Tony Stark having Norman's remains tidied up, they still looked gruesome with much of the body missing. The sight left Harry stunned and speechless, nearly forgetting to breathe. After a moment, he took a deep breath as if coming up for air after being submerged, then angrily glared at Peter.

"You killed him?! You killed him and brought him back to humiliate me?!" Harry roared at Peter but collapsed weakly, his frail body unable to handle the intense emotions.

"Careful, Harry..." Peter instinctively supported Harry, looking worriedly at him. He then fell silent.

"Your voice... it sounds familiar. Do you know me... who are you?" Harry's heart trembled upon hearing Peter's voice, a premonition he didn't want to face forming in his mind.

"It's me..." Peter sighed deeply, removing his mask and looking at Harry with a helpless expression.

"It's really you, Peter..." Harry's heart sank. Despite Peter holding him, he collapsed, eyes reddening and face showing complex emotions. "Spider-Man is Peter Parker. Why is Spider-Man Peter Parker? Why? Why did you kill my father?"

"Your father wasn't killed by me..." Peter sat down beside Harry, explaining softly. "You didn't react much to seeing Mr. Osborn's armor, so you must have known his identity. Here's what happened..."

Peter slowly explained everything to Harry. He didn't know if Harry would eventually accept the truth, but he would tell him everything. If Harry chose to become his enemy, Peter wouldn't feel guilty, as he hadn't lied and had told Harry the whole truth.

"Haha..." Harry's laughter was bitter. Learning that Norman wasn't killed by Peter but by the infamous "Ghost in the Night" after attacking Peter left him more confused.

To ensure Harry believed him, Peter showed video footage recorded by the JARVIS system, capturing Peter trying to save Norman and Norman's unwillingness to die. Harry fell silent after watching.

Harry did harbor some resentment toward Peter, hating that he was Spider-Man. But he knew he had no right to hate Peter. Even though Peter's powers were linked to Oscorp's research, Peter likely had no knowledge of it. From start to finish, it was Norman Osborn who targeted Peter.

Peter had even tried to save Norman. Besides Spider-Man's identity, Peter had done nothing wrong. Watching Harry in silence, Peter decided to let him calm down. Whatever Harry chose, Peter could accept it.

"Do you know why my father wanted your blood?" Harry suddenly coughed violently, his frail body looking near death. Peter, worried, frowned at him.

"I don't know. I don't understand why Mr. Osborn, who didn't know my identity, wanted my blood," Peter replied softly.

"You know my health has been poor since high school. I couldn't participate in many sports, even less than you," Harry said, not looking at Peter but at the coffin.

"Because of our poor athleticism, we grew closer. But now, my health is worse than before, while you've become a powerful superhero..."

"It's because of a genetic disease in my family. My father and I both have it. He tried for years to find a cure but never succeeded. The closest he got, the success was taken away..."

"The success was related to spiders. So, after learning about Spider-Man, my father targeted him, hoping to cure me with your blood..."

"Mr. Osborn..." Peter hesitated, a thought occurring to him.

"He injected a dangerous serum to survive but at the cost of his sanity. He didn't want me to go through that. He hoped to find a cure without side effects but died before realizing Spider-Man was you..." Harry's voice was filled with sorrow.

"My abilities are because of a spider..." Peter admitted. "When I transferred to Missouri, you sent me a package with a letter and a spider inside. I was bitten by that spider and gained Spider-Man's powers. My other abilities came later, but without the spider's mutation, I wouldn't have achieved them."

"What?!" Harry was shocked. He had imagined countless ways Peter might have gained his powers, but never that he was responsible.

If Harry hadn't sent that package or checked it more carefully, he might have found the spider. But if he had seen the spider, he would have likely killed it and then sent the package anyway.

"If my blood can help you recover, Harry, I'll give it to you," Peter said seriously. "But you mustn't act recklessly. We don't know the results. I know Tony Stark; he might be able to help you recover."

In another world, Peter Parker might not offer his blood so readily, but this Peter was different. He chose to trust his old friend Harry, giving him hope to live.
