Chapter 432: Chapter 432: Death and Recognition

"Damn it!" Peter Parker shouted in anger as he watched Norman Osborn's lower body being devoured by the shadow soldier. Summoning his remaining strength, he fired an electric bolt at the shadow soldier's head, causing it to stumble slightly.

Even though Norman Osborn had set Peter up, Peter couldn't stand to see a human being eaten alive by a shadow soldier. It was an instinctive empathy for his own kind.

Unfortunately, Peter was severely injured by Norman's trap, and the electric shock he managed to release wasn't strong enough to kill the large shadow soldier. It only caused a minor disruption, failing to prevent the soldier from continuing its grisly feast on Norman's body.

This was karma for Norman Osborn. If he hadn't ambushed Peter and left him so gravely wounded, Peter might have been able to save him. It seemed fate had its own plans.

The shadow soldier bit into Norman Osborn again, tearing off more of his body and spilling blood everywhere.

Tohru's orders to the shadow soldiers were clear: devour the entire body after consuming the shadow, leaving no chance for the victim to recover. This was why the shadow soldier focused on the unconscious Norman Osborn instead of attacking Peter immediately. However, once it finished with Norman, it would turn its attention to Peter.

"Boom!"

"Whoosh!"

The shadow soldier was suddenly sent flying, smashing into a wall and almost disintegrating into black mist from the impact.

"Carla... thank you..." Peter Parker sighed in relief upon seeing the newcomer. Fortunately, J.A.R.V.I.S. had notified others when he was injured, and Carla, the closest and fastest, had arrived in time to save him.

"How did you end up like this?" Carla asked, puzzled. She had been busy herself, managing various cities' crises while keeping an eye on Robert. She didn't know the details of Peter's encounter but had rushed over upon hearing about his severe injuries.

Carla noticed the remnants of Norman Osborn in his Green Goblin suit, now mostly devoured. She realized that Peter's injuries were likely connected to Norman Osborn.

Peter had mentioned the Green Goblin before, warning Carla and others about his advanced technology. They had discussed being cautious of his energy attacks, considering their potential danger to ordinary people and buildings, even if not to themselves.

"I was caught off guard. Didn't you see the explosion marks around?" Peter sighed, feeling helpless. His injuries were severe enough that he would take a long time to recover on his own.

But seeking Robert's help might interrupt his efforts to find the mastermind behind the shadow soldiers, leaving Peter feeling guilty. He regretted not being more cautious when his spider-sense alerted him. He had underestimated the danger, thinking it was just the shadow soldiers, who seemed harmless to him at first glance.

"Whoosh!" Carla's eyes gleamed as she used her heat vision to disintegrate the struggling shadow soldier trying to escape.

To Carla, shadow soldiers varied in strength, with larger ones being more powerful. However, none she encountered could match her strength, making them easy targets.

"Let's go. You can't move in your condition. I'll take you back," Carla said softly, looking at Peter.

"Okay." Peter nodded but then noticed something about Norman Osborn's face and eyes, now visible after his mask had shattered.

Seeing the familiar face and unyielding gaze, Peter recognized Norman Osborn as the father of his friend, Harry Osborn. Peter had previously helped search for Norman, making the recognition all the more poignant.

Peter felt a mix of emotions. He couldn't understand why his friend's father had turned into the Green Goblin and targeted him. Out of loyalty to Harry, Peter instinctively wanted to save Norman to find out the truth.

"So... unfair..." Norman Osborn muttered his final words, filled with regret, before succumbing to his injuries. He gave Peter no chance to respond.

"No..." Peter cried out, watching Norman die in front of him. His emotions were conflicted. If it had been anyone else who ambushed him, Peter would have sought revenge. But Norman was his friend's father, and his death left Peter confused and uncertain.

"What happened?" Carla asked, sensing something was wrong. "Isn't he the criminal you mentioned before? Why are you so upset about his death? Do you know him?"

"He's Harry's father, the chairman of Osborn Corporation..." Peter sighed, explaining to Carla.

"Your good friend's father?" Carla was surprised by the dramatic turn of events and didn't know what to say.

"Ask Tony to send two armors over. I need to take his body back to Harry. Even if we can't save him, I can't just leave him here..." Peter said, contacting J.A.R.V.I.S. He didn't need advanced armor, just enough to transport them.

"Let's head to Tony's base first. Maybe his nutrition therapy chamber can help your injuries. We also need to handle his body properly. How will you face your friend? Have you thought about that?" Carla asked seriously.

Peter was stunned by her words. He recalled Harry's reactions when Norman first disappeared. If Harry learned about Norman's death now, it would devastate him. And if he found out Peter was involved, their relationship could be ruined.

Even though Peter was innocent and had been the victim throughout, explaining this to Harry would be difficult.

"Alright, let's go back first," Peter said after a moment of silence, knowing he couldn't waste Carla's time. Many others needed her help, and more shadow soldiers needed to be dealt with.

"Whoosh!" Carla wrapped Peter and Norman's body in a force field and flew them to Tony Stark's base, where advanced medical equipment, including the nutrition therapy chamber, awaited.

Tony had built the chamber to avoid over-relying on Robert's healing powers, which he feared might have hidden costs. The chamber could stabilize severe injuries and accelerate recovery, though it couldn't match Robert's healing abilities.

Soon, Peter was placed in the nutrition therapy chamber, his eyes fixed on Norman's remains. He was lost in thought, unsure how to face Harry.

"Do you want me to send Norman's body back? We can remove his gear, dress him, and say he was attacked by shadow soldiers before my armor could save him," Tony suggested, his voice echoing in the room.

Tony felt a mix of emotions about Norman. They were of similar age and had interacted in the business world. Tony became a superhero, while Norman turned into a supervillain, and now Norman had met his end.

"No, I'll go myself once I'm healed..." Peter shook his head, rejecting Tony's offer. Some things couldn't be hidden forever, and he preferred to tell Harry the truth, no matter the consequences.

Peter realized that if Harry knew part of the truth, he might be suspicious anyway. Better to confront it head-on than risk future misunderstandings.

"Alright, we'll talk later," Peter said, focusing on his recovery. He knew he had to face Harry eventually and preferred to do it on his terms.

Carla and Tony left Peter to rest, both understanding the difficult situation he faced. The truth might strain his friendship with Harry, but Peter knew he had to face it honestly.
