Stranger Danger

Every single one of these Strangers were oceanic overlords. The weakest of them was Disaster-class, and they had all been corrupted by the demonic fire and transformed into demonic monsters. Pain could not stop them, and the word fear did not exist in their dictionary. On top of that, they were several times stronger than they were before.

However, Feng Qingyou dealt with their combined assault calmly and collectedly. The gale was crushing, the waves were titanic, but nothing could touch a hair on Feng Qingyou's person.

Ye Qing noticed that the Ghost Dragon Boat was nowhere to be found among these Strangers and demonic monsters, however.

Ye Qing narrowed his eyes slightly. Instead of joining the fray immediately, he unleashed his demonic thought and perceived the surroundings.

"Found you!"

A few breaths later, Ye Qing tracked down the wisp of demonic thought he had attached to the Ghost Dragon Boat before and found the Stranger.

Right now, the Ghost Dragon Boat was hiding an entire kilometer below the sea surface.

It looked different from before though. Before, the Ghost Dragon Boat was covered in cold and ghastly dark green flames. But now, its flames had taken on a dark red hue because it had been "infected" by demonic fire. Green was still its main color, however. It looked very strange. Its flesh was writhing, and its scale armor was opening and closing. It looked even scarier and disturbing than before.

On the surface, the Ghost Dragon Boat looked no different from the other converted Strangers. However, Ye Qing felt that something was off even though he couldn't pinpoint the source of his intuition immediately.

It was at this moment Ye Qing saw a corrupted Tigerhead Fish. When it approached the Ghost Dragon Boat, its dark red flames actually changed into the same color as the Ghost Dragon Boat's flames instead: green and red, dark and gloomy.

The next moment, the Tigerhead Fish swam to the Ghost Dragon Boat's deck and let itself be devoured by its flesh as if controlled.

"That's right. The fire!"

Ye Qing's eyes lit up. He figured out what was off with the Ghost Dragon Boat. It was the flames[1].

He had seen plenty of corrupted humans and Strangers at this point. Powerful or weak, they all discharged dark red and only dark red demonic fire from their bodies.

However, the Ghost Dragon Boat's fire was markedly different. Although it had caught some of the demonic fire's dark red, it was mainly dark green in color.

Not only that, the Strangers doing battle against Feng Qingyou on the sea surface right now were also burning with dark green fire, not dark red.

Earlier, the corrupted Tigerhead Fish had instantly fallen under the Ghost Dragon Boat's control and let itself be devoured after making contact with its dark green flame.

Did that mean that the Strangers attacking Feng Qingyou right now were controlled by the Ghost Dragon Boat?!

One more thing. All demonic monsters possessed no sense of self. Violent and bloodthirsty, they attacked anything and everything around them, especially living beings that hadn't been corrupted yet.

Assuming that the Ghost Dragon Boat was corrupted by the demonic fire, it should be mindlessly attacking Feng Qingyou just like the rest of the demonic monsters.

In reality, that wasn't the case. It was hiding at the bottom of the sea.

All these signs were pointing toward one thing: that the Ghost Dragon Boat wasn't corrupted by the demonic fire. Not only that, it could even subvert and take control of the demonic monsters.

"What on earth is it? And where did it come from?"

Ye Qing was curious, naturally. He had seen with his own eyes just how terrifying the demonic fire was. It would not be an exaggeration to call it the bane of all living things. Even he was immune to the demonic fire only because of the Profound Yellow Mother Qi.

On the other hand, the Ghost Dragon Boat seemed to be immune to the usual effects of the demonic fire. Not only was it faring swimmingly in this environment, it could even take control of the demonic monsters. One might even think that they shared the same origin. How curious!

Then, the Ghost Dragon Boat turned tail and swam away.

"Running away as soon as you saw me? How rude can you get?" Ye Qing chuckled and chased after it immediately.

As the Ghost Dragon Boat slipped away, the demonic fire spreading throughout the seawater flooded in from every direction as if summoned. It quickly condensed into the shape of a massive dragon boat and charged toward Ye Qing.

"It can actually control the demonic fire?"

Ye Qing was even more surprised. As it turned out, the Ghost Dragon Boat wasn't just immune to the demonic fire's influence. It could control it as well. That would explain why it could control the demonic monsters.

A hole soundlessly appeared in the middle of the churning seawater, and the massive dragon boat of demonic fire exploded into pieces.

A terrible suction force was coming from the whirlpool. It pulled in everything around the whirlpool and consumed it.

As if that wasn't enough, the whirlpool was growing bigger and stronger.

At this point, the Ghost Dragon Boat was several kilometers away from Ye Qing. That was the furthest it could go. The whirlpool was keeping it from moving even an inch further.

Its struggles proved to be futile. As time passed, it was actually losing progress as it moved closer and closer to the whirlpool.
