Chapter 1450: But Humans Are Not
"Princess, you're about to run out of spiritual power. You cannot keep this up!"
"She's right, princess. We need to go. Let's just forget them already!"
"You will be in danger too if we don't go now. Your body is precious, princess. No harm must come to you!"
"Please, princess. You've already done your best. No one will blame you for it, so let's just ignore them and go already."
The woman's female attendants and guards tried to persuade her.
"Please, please don't abandon us!" "I beg you, save us!, please!" "We don't want to die! Please don't abandon us!"
The conversation terrified the passengers on board, of course. They were all begging for the woman to stay.
Despite her pallid complexion, the woman forced a smile on her face and said softly, "Don't worry. So long as there is still a breath in my chest, I won't abandon anyone."
"Princess... you can't!"
"Princess, your safety is paramount. These commoners—"
"Silence!"
The female attendants and the bodyguards's anxiety doubled when they heard the woman's declaration, but they were interrupted before they could finish.
"I said I won't abandon them!"
In an ironic twist of fate, a tidal wave wreathed in demonic flames crashed heavily against the tower ship.
The tower ship shook violently, the crescent moon on the flag flickered unsteadily, and the clear screen shattered into smithereens. The woman herself threw up a mouthful of blood and fell backward due to the backlash she received.
"Princess!"
"Ah... help!"
"I don't want to die..."
"It's all over..."
When the woman collapsed, the crescent moon disappeared, and the clear light dissipated into nothing. At the same time, a titanic, fire-wreathed wave descended from above.
Everyone on the ship plummeted in despair when they saw this.
Fearing their fate, they all closed their eyes.
But despite waiting for a long time, nothing happened. Forget pain or unusual sensations, they felt warm and even comfortable!
Some people subconsciously opened their eyes and saw a rich, profound light. The light surrounded the tower ship like a thin curtain and prevented the demonic fire from encroaching. At the same time, they could see the roaring, rumbling waves passing them by very, very quickly.
It was only now they realized that the tower ship was moving forward at high speed.
Ahead of the tower ship, the fire-wreathed waves were taller than the sky and seemingly endless. They also crashed down on the tower ship from every direction like meteors or a raging river. However, the profound light stopped it all.
At first, the people were still scared and worried. They were scared that the demonic fire would suddenly shred the profound light and destroy the entire tower ship.
Gradually, they realized that the profound light was impossibly tough despite its thin layer. No matter how the demonic fire burned, no matter how hard the tidal waves struck, they could not threaten the layer of profound light in the slightest, much less them.
The tower ship pierced through the darkness and cut through the river like a sword. Without exception, any and all obstacles standing in its way were cleaved into two.
"Look! Someone's there!"
Finally, someone noticed that someone was hovering above the tower ship.
The person was covered in profound light. Their right hand was hanging beside their waist, and their fingers were slightly open. They were walking in the sky like it was the ground.
It looked like they were walking forward while carrying the tower ship.
It looked like the person was moving slowly, but the tower ship was really cutting through the sea at a rate of several kilometers per instant.
Before the crowd could exclaim their astonishment at the strange person, a piercing light from the front drew everyone's attention.
"Light! I see light up ahead!" Someone cried out.
Before their voice faded, the demonic fire surrounding them abruptly vanished, replaced by blue sea, clear waves, and bright, dreamy light.
"We're... out?"
"We're outside?!"
"Hahaha... we're still alive! We're still alive!"
Looking at the calm sea in front of them and the dark red but bright sky above their heads, the passengers of the ship all felt like they were in a dream. It wasn't until later that they snapped out of it and cheered at the top of their lungs.
"Thank you for saving our lives, senior!" It was at this moment the woman slowly climbed to her feet with the support of two female attendants. She bowed to the figure in the sky and thanked him.
Hearing her voice, the passengers on the ship realized that they were being impolite and hurriedly thanked the person in the sky as well.
There was no response. Although they had escaped the Sea Burning Demonic Fire, the person did not let go of the tower ship. They were still walking forward quickly.
"This junior is Yue Ling. May I know your name, senior?"
When the person in the sky did not respond, the woman named Yue Ling apologized, "Yue Ling will not forget that she lives today only because you have saved her, senior, so please tell me your name. Yue Ling promises to compensate you handsomely in the future!"
The person was surrounded by in profound light. The light was neither blinding nor bright, but it prevented her from seeing the person's face. She couldn't even tell if they were male or female, old or young.
"There's no need."
It was at this moment a clear, bright voice came from above. "Gold Island is just up ahead. You can get there yourselves!"
As soon as the voice finished, the tower ship abruptly came to a stop. The profound light protecting it had vanished as well.
"Senior! Senior!" Yue Ling hurriedly called out a couple more times, but the person in the sky was already gone.
"I think that senior is already gone, princess!" A female attendant said to her.
"Sigh... What a shame!" Yue Ling looked very disappointed.
A guard asked, "What do we do now, princess?" "We head to Gold Island," Yue Ling snapped out of it and replied without hesitation. "We're not out of danger yet, and Gold Island is not far away from here. We should head there now."
"Yu Nu, you will command the ship."
"As you command, princess," a female attendant responded and took her leave.
After the female attendant was gone, Yue Ling returned her attention to the sky. The disappointment in her face was gone and replaced by a strange smile instead. She muttered to herself, "Foster father guessed correctly. You really are still on Gold Island."
"We will meet again."
......
Meanwhile, Ye Qing was about a hundred or so kilometers away from the tower ship.
He had not returned to Gold Island though. He had gone elsewhere.
Just now, he had sensed Feng Qingyou's energies and the Ghost Dragon Boat's aura.
Was she fighting against the Ghost Dragon Boat right now?
Ye Qing quickly arrived at the possibility.
That was why he had rushed over as soon as he carried the tower ship and its passengers to safety.
He was confident in Feng Qingyou's strength, of course. A mere Ghost Dragon Boat could not pose a threat against her at all. However, he was curious as to why the Ghost Dragon Boat had chosen this timing to show its ugly mug.
Was it a mere coincidence, or was it intentional?
It wasn't long before Ye Qing found Feng Qingyou.
Right now, Feng Qingyou was battling against a dozen or so powerful Strangers.
One Stranger was a Ghostface Demon Squid with tentacles the size of pillars and a body as big as a mountain. Its tentacles were also covered in ghost faces with wide open mouths and razor sharp teeth.
One Stranger was a dog-faced, hawk-shaped Sea Patrolling Hawk Dog with steely wings so wing that it blotted out the sky. Its feathers made clanging noises and generated sparks when they smacked into one another.
One Stranger was a massive, jade-like toad called the White Jade Poison Toad. Its back was as smooth as a mirror, but its abdomen was covered in millstone-sized poison sacs. The sacs were breaking non-stop and unleashing what looked like a deadly poisonous fog.
One Stranger was a sword-shaped fish with colorful scales called Colorful Sword Fish. It moved as swiftly as lightning and could fire off its scales like bullets, cutting through anything and everything in its path.
One Stranger was a winged seahorse with a single horn on its head called the Unicorn Seahorse. When it flapped its feathered wings, the wind howled, and the waves crashed.
