Chapter 97: Chapter 97: The One True God—Susanoo
As Kaito advanced step by step, Enel finally felt an emotion he'd long forgotten—fear.
He reached out his hand, and a golden staff flew into his grasp from behind the throne where he had been seated.
Lightning surged around the golden staff in Enel's hand. Under the intense heat of the electricity, it melted and reshaped into a golden trident. With a heavy thud, Enel slammed the trident into the ground as if trying to draw confidence from the action.
Kaito simply stared at Enel's transformation with a strange look.
Enel had no idea what Kaito was thinking. He charged forward, thrusting the golden trident at him with all his might.
Clang!
At some point, a black rod had appeared in Kaito's hand. The trident struck its tip but couldn't move it an inch.
Kaito's ocular power now far surpassed what it had been during his time in the Marines. Back then, even someone like Tokikake could break his black rods with Armament Haki. But now, that level of force couldn't damage them at all.
With a sweep of his black rod, Kaito knocked the trident aside. He spun his wrist and drove the rod straight toward Enel's abdomen.
Squelch!
The black rod pierced clean through Enel's stomach. Clutching the rod tightly, Enel staggered back several steps, looking up at Kaito in disbelief.
Once again, this so-called god had been wounded—this time by a plain physical attack. Ever since eating the Goro Goro no Mi and gaining elemental powers, how long had it been since a physical attack had hurt him?
Seeing Enel's expression, Kaito instantly knew what he was thinking. With a hint of mockery, he said:
"Still think you're a god?"
"Cough, cough! You bastard! I won't allow a mere mortal like you to mock a god!!"
Driven to madness by Kaito's taunts, Enel gritted his teeth and endured the interference pulsing from the black rod. He grasped it tightly and slowly, agonizingly, pulled it out from his abdomen.
At last, the blood-stained rod clattered to the ground. Enel cast a murderous glare at Kaito, then transformed into a bolt of lightning and shot out of the palace.
Kaito wasn't worried about Enel escaping. The ROOM space had enveloped all of Skypiea, and he could sense Enel now floating above the great hall, gathering energy.
In a flash, Kaito appeared in front of him. He hovered silently in the air, staring at the twisted, rage-filled expression on Enel's face, his gaze tinged with pity—for the weak.
Lightning crackled furiously around Enel's body, wrapping him layer by layer. He roared at Kaito:
"Those eyes... that look... I'll erase them forever! I am the god of thunder!"
Lightning erupted around him as his form began to change. Enel transformed into a massive, bloated figure tens of meters tall. Only the electric face still vaguely resembled his original appearance.
Arms crossed, Kaito observed this self-proclaimed thunder god without a flicker of emotion.
Seeing Kaito floating silently in place, Enel assumed he was stunned and helpless, and a wave of smug satisfaction surged within him.
Of course he was the true god. He had merely been caught off guard by a Blue Sea native earlier because he hadn't taken things seriously.
A smug grin spread across the thunderous face as Enel sneered at the "tiny" Kaito below.
"Scared speechless by a god's form? Don't worry, I'll put you out of your misery soon enough!"
At those words, Kaito's arms dropped from his chest. He shot Enel a dispassionate look as a surge of purple energy burst out around him once again.
Enel only scoffed. He had already seen Kaito's skeletal Susanoo before. Whether in size or presence, it was nothing compared to his thunder god form.
But the purple energy didn't stop at forming a skeleton.
Under Kaito's deliberate control, muscles began to grow across the bones, followed by skin that covered them entirely. The figure expanded rapidly in size, layer by layer. Armor formed, legs took shape, and at last, a colossal Susanoo over 300 meters tall stood in the sky. Its massive wings stretched out behind it, blotting out the sun.
Kaito stood within the diamond-shaped space atop Susanoo's head, looking coldly at the so-called thunder god below—who didn't even reach its knee—and said calmly:
"What's wrong? Is this the extent of godly power?"
Enel didn't reply. He was frozen in place, staring dumbfounded at the deep violet giant towering above him. Just the aura radiating from it made him feel like he couldn't breathe.
And it wasn't just Enel. All of Skypiea saw the giant standing above the clouds.
Gan Fall gazed up in a daze and muttered:
"What... what is that?"
Konis stood beside him, equally stunned. But she felt a strange familiarity from the giant. Suddenly, she exclaimed excitedly:
"Grandpa Gan Fall, that's Kaito! He summoned a giant skeleton just like that before—it has to be him!"
Uchiha Kaito?
Gan Fall nodded numbly. Against a power like this, Enel didn't stand a chance, did he?
"AAAHHH! What the hell is this!? You've got to be kidding me!!"
Enel had completely snapped. He darted toward Susanoo, wildly slapping at its leg with thunder-shaped hands.
"No! This isn't right! I am the god! I am the god!!"
But his attacks did nothing. All they produced were faint ripples of violet energy, like he was giving Susanoo a massage.
Susanoo lifted one leg and lightly kicked.
Enel's massive form was launched backward like a cannonball, slamming into the palace below. The luxurious structure was instantly reduced to rubble.
Half-buried in the ruins, Enel lay sprawled and broken. He kept staring up at the looming Susanoo, muttering over and over:
"I am god... I am god..."
Kaito dismissed Susanoo and floated down, hovering before the shattered wreck of Enel.
Looking at the completely broken man, Kaito said nothing more. He reached out and gripped Enel's neck. Activating the Rinnegan, he absorbed the power of the Goro Goro no Mi into his body.
In his left eye, a single tomoe appeared.
With his abilities stripped away, Enel's consciousness faded completely. His head slumped to the side, and he died.
Kaito looked one last time at Enel's lifeless body and let out a quiet sigh.
To be honest, Enel wasn't actually weak. In the original anime, he lost to Luffy simply because he appeared too early in the story—and because of that so-called fruit matchup.
If Enel had joined the Marines, with his top-tier Logia powers and incredible Observation Haki, he'd have been a prime candidate for elite training.
Once he learned proper combat techniques and Armament Haki, he'd absolutely have Admiral-level potential.
If he'd turned to piracy instead, he'd easily have been a mid-tier Warlord of the Sea—certainly far stronger than that bloated Moria.
Unfortunately, with his rotten personality, becoming a Marine was out of the question. He didn't care for pirates either.
Not that it mattered. After all, his dream was the endless sea of stars.
