Lucas stared at the glowing loot pile, and his heart sank instantly.

No weapons. No armor. Just… materials.

He frowned. "Seriously? Not a single piece of equipment from a boss like that?"

After clearing such a tough dungeon, he had hoped for something shiny and deadly—at least a rare dagger, maybe a piece of armor. But instead, he was greeted by a quiet, unimpressive pile of loot with no sparkle.

"Wow, equipment drop rates are brutal…" he sighed.

Still, Lucas composed himself, walked over, and began collecting the materials one by one, carefully stowing them into his spatial backpack.

Then something caught his eye.

"Huh?" He paused and picked up a glowing object. "Wait a minute…"

A bright violet-colored glow shimmered from the item. Its name appeared above it in bold purple:

---

Item: Ogre's Core

Type: Material

Grade: Rare

Description: The precious crystal core of an ogre. Contains unknown energy and can be used to craft powerful gear.

---

Lucas's eyes lit up. "A rare-grade material?! This… this is huge!"

He smiled for the first time since finishing the fight. In the world of game integration, loot materials had color-coded ranks just like gear:

White for common

Green for uncommon

Blue for excellent

Purple for rare

Gold, orange, and red for higher tiers like epic, legendary, and divine.

Until now, all the materials he'd picked up were boring, white-tier scraps. This was the first time he'd ever seen purple!

"This can be the core for crafting rare-grade equipment," he muttered, inspecting the item. "Depending on the design, this could make something really powerful."

Lucas wasn't a crafting expert, but he knew enough to understand the value. Rare gear—especially at Level 20—could sell for tens of thousands. Maybe more if it suited an assassin build.

"Could this be the key to making a full Level 20 rare set?" he wondered. "Guess I'll find out once I'm back in Tianhai City."

He could check its drop rate online, compare prices, and maybe even post it to a trading forum. "Regardless, this thing alone makes the entire dungeon worth it."

Still smiling, Lucas finally tucked the ogre core into his inventory and looked through the rest of the loot.

In addition to the core, he found:

Two green-grade 'Ogre's Tough Leather'

One green-grade 'Ogre's Tooth'

Several white-grade 'Ogre Mace Fragments'

"Not bad at all," he said, nodding to himself. "Solid haul."

With that, he exited the dungeon in a flash of white light and reappeared in front of the dungeon gate.

Lucas stretched his shoulders and looked up at the shimmering entrance to the next instance. "That was easier than I expected. Should I try… nightmare level next?"

He stroked his chin thoughtfully.

He still had two dungeon tickets left for the day. Why not?

The harder the dungeon, the better the loot. And Lucas wanted equipment—something tailored to his assassin playstyle.

Just then, he heard a familiar voice from nearby.

"Martha, look! That guy came out!"

Lucas turned his head and saw a group standing not far away. One of the girls in the group was pointing at him in surprise.

"What? He came out already?" said a mature female voice. It belonged to Martha, a confident, well-equipped player in her late twenties. She blinked, stunned. "He's not dead?"

Lucas met their gaze briefly but offered no explanation. Instead, he quietly pulled out his next dungeon ticket from his backpack.

One of the men in the group—a smug-looking warrior with a sword and shield—scoffed. Zach Darnell.

"Hah. Probably chickened out," Zach muttered with a sneer. "He must've gone in, realized how outmatched he was, and quit before burning a resurrection token."

He crossed his arms. "Kids these days, so cocky. Think they're invincible and can solo anything. That guy? He's just a poser."

Zach had been eyeing Lucas with jealousy since they first saw him. He couldn't stand how Martha seemed intrigued by the newcomer. And now, he was desperate to put him down.

"Only Level 20 and trying to solo a hard-level dungeon? What a joke. I bet he saw the first monster and ran."

In Zach's head, he had it all figured out. Lucas probably entered, got terrified by the monster stats, and ran back out before getting squashed. All that bravery earlier? Just empty bravado.

"Hah! He probably didn't even take a swing."

His words made Martha frown.

"Zach, don't talk like that," she said sharply. "We don't know what happened."

She glanced at Lucas again. Something about his presence still left a deep impression. His calm demeanor, the way he carried himself—it didn't feel like someone who gave up easily.

She turned to her other teammates. "Maybe… maybe we should ask him to join us? We still need one more for the hard-level run."

The others hesitated, their expressions uncertain. They didn't say no, but they didn't say yes either.

Martha understood. At Level 20, an assassin's base output wasn't impressive. Maybe he could handle a normal dungeon, but a hard one?

"He might hold us back…" she admitted silently, disappointed.

Still, she turned again to where Lucas had been—and blinked.

He was gone.

"Wait… what?" she murmured.

Zach's eyes widened. "What the—he went back in?!"

The team all turned toward the Starlight Gate, which now glowed a dangerous red.

"Did he just… enter a nightmare-level dungeon?" one of the female players gasped, staring at the crimson shimmer.

The red glow was unmistakable. It signified the nightmare difficulty—a level none of them had dared to challenge.

"What did you say?!" Martha's voice cracked as she stared at the fading light of the portal. Her lips parted slightly in disbelief.

He had just exited a hard-level dungeon… and now he was entering nightmare level?

A chilling thought hit her.

"Wait… did he clear the hard dungeon just now?"

Her teammate's eyes widened. "In just a few minutes? Alone?"

Zach's face flushed with color, then went pale.

"Impossible. Absolutely impossible!" he snapped. "No one can do that solo! Not at Level 20!"

But even he wasn't convinced by his own words anymore.

If Lucas had really done it… then everything Zach had just said made him look like a clown.

"No. No way. He must've cheated. Or… or…" Zach's voice trailed off, trembling with doubt.

Yet deep down, everyone watching the glowing red portal felt the same thing.

Lucas wasn't just confident—he was something else entirely.

And this time, he wasn't just playing a dungeon. He was making a statement.
