Chapter 9: Bad Ending: Simp

"Just look at this simp."

"Seriously, he embarrassed himself trying to hit on Yana yesterday, and now he's back to grovel at Tina's feet."

"His mental fortitude is something else—a prime example of shamelessness."

"Exactly, he's a role model in persistence. I have to admire his thick skin—chasing after her for three years with this level of determination."

Amid the sneering and disdainful laughter around her, Tina felt utterly humiliated. She kicked away the roses on the ground as soon as she approached.

Frowning and gritting her teeth, she snapped, "Ryan, don't you think this is embarrassing?"

Ryan, looking aggrieved, replied, "Classmate Tina, I saw other people do this. Don't you think it's romantic?"

"Romantic my foot! This is so tacky!"

Her pretty face flushed with anger as she said, "Isn't it bad enough that you embarrass yourself? Do you have to drag me down with you too?"

As she turned to leave, Ryan hurriedly grabbed her hand and pleaded, "Don't go, Classmate Tina!"

Feeling disgusted by his touch, Tina shook her arm free but couldn't get loose. She turned around, furious, and shouted, "Let go of me, or I'll accuse you of harassment!"

That one touch made her feel utterly revolted, and her face showed nothing but unreserved disdain.

Ryan quickly let go of her hand, looking pitiful as he said, "Okay, okay, I'll leave right now. But I worked so hard to buy this gift—can't you just accept it?"

As he spoke, he took out a phone. The sight of the packaging box made Tina's eyes light up.

"No way! I thought this broke guy would gift something like a doll, but it's actually the latest iPhone 16!"

"Am I seeing things? This guy, who lives on 50 cents steamed buns and free pickles in the cafeteria, bought an iPhone 16?"

"Yeah, it's impossible. Where would he even get the money? He barely scrapes by with relief funds and scholarships."

"You don't know? This guy's willing to do any kind of hard work. He carries the slop buckets in the cafeteria every day."

"I also saw him delivering food in a uniform last time!"

The voices around them buzzed louder as Ryan held the phone, looking pitifully at Tina, hoping his sincere efforts would move her.

Tina, who had always been bothered by having to use an outdated Android phone in the dorm, couldn't help but feel tempted.

Seeing the phone she had been dreaming of, she felt a pang of excitement. It was the first time she had received such an expensive gift for her birthday.

Just as she hesitated, a disdainful voice suddenly rang out, "What a fool. Who even does such outdated stuff?"

A BMW 5 Series pulled up, and Kaiden, dressed in designer clothes, stepped out.

Looking at the scattered roses on the ground, Kaiden sneered, "Just a few flowers? Not even enough to make tea. How dare you bring this out and embarrass yourself?"

With his imposing presence, Kaiden walked forward confidently, and the crowd automatically parted to make way for him.

Tina, who had been wavering, immediately cast aside her doubts when she saw him.

Kaiden walked straight up to her, barely giving Ryan a glance, his face full of disdain.

"Brother Kaiden!"

Tina voice was sweet, like a lark's song or a ringing silver bell. It made people's hearts melt and their imaginations run wild.

Ryan, clutching the iPhone box, stood frozen, his hope fading away as he watched Tina radiant smile directed at Kaiden.

Kaiden flashed a blatantly lewd smile and said, "Sweetie, let's go. I'll give you an unforgettable birthday."

"Alright, Brother Kaiden!"

Kaiden then glanced at Ryan with a snort and said, "Sweetie, do you need to say anything to your 'friend' over there?"

Tina quickly explained, "No need, Brother Kaiden. We're just regular classmates."

"Exactly. Some random nobodies just don't know their place. If anyone harasses you, just let me know."

Ignoring Ryan presence entirely, Ryan grabbed Kaiden hand and followed him into the car without looking back.

"Oh my god, Kaiden? But doesn't he already have a girlfriend?"

"He's a playboy who switches girlfriends as easily as changing clothes."

"Tina, seriously? Of all people, you had to fall for him..."

"What other choice does she have? Would you expect her to go for that poor and clueless simp?"

The onlookers, realizing there was no more drama to watch, dispersed while mocking and jeering, leaving Ryan standing there dumbfounded with a bitter smile on his face.

Holding the iPhone 16 in his hand, he desperately wished he could find a hole to crawl into. For the first time, he experienced such deep humiliation.

Ryan fled back to his dormitory in panic. Lying on his bed, he felt as if tears might fall at any moment. He clenched his fists in anger but felt completely at a loss.

"Third Brother, our condolences!"

"Come on, let's go out to eat. We'll have a good drink with you tonight."

His roommates didn't know how else to comfort him, sighing as they offered. It seemed that a simp meeting such an end wasn't deserving of sympathy.

Ryan forced out an awkward smile. "I'm fine. There's no need to go out. Tina is just having dinner with him; it's not like they're dating."

Weston and Jacob exchanged a glance, thinking he was truly beyond help. This guy was too good at deceiving himself.

Who was Kaiden? A notorious playboy, the rich son of a wealthy family, and the vice president of the student union. He had always thrived on campus.

Dating? Even if he wasn't officially dating someone, the number of women Kaiden had been with was more than the times Ryan had ever masturbated himself.

Tina willingly following Kaiden would never lead to a good ending.
