Sous

Chapter 39: Hacate Arc: Four

She awoke with water coming out of her mouth, choking as she quickly sat up. The seal on the side of neck was burning, causing her significant pain. She looked around for her wand, not finding it. Sous was about to get up but an arrow to her chest stopped her. Before she could say anything, she coughed up more water trying to get a word in, trying to slap the arrow away but it kept being pointed at her chest. She finally looked up to see the elf standing before her, the arrow in her chest.

"Why was you following me?" She asked.

Sous swiped the arrow away but again, she pushed it toward Sous. She could even feel the sharp point pricking her chest. She growled at the elf, unintentional but it just came deep within her throat.

"Tell me!"

"Sous!" Opting to say her name instead of saying 'fuck you' like she really wanted. She looked around for her wand, still not seeing it. What she saw instead was the interior of a cave. The icicles large and rigged. She saw the body of water she was pulled from, her clothes soaked. She was probably going to catch a cold because of how often she was getting thrown into water. "Where's my wand?"

The elf girl pointed at a desk desk covered in paperwork and books, even a laptop. Sous attempted to get up but the arrow, once more prevented her from doing so. She smacked her lips and rolled her eyes.

"Listen, I followed you because I wanted to know if you're from the Valley of Trey-"

"No, I'm not. Even if I were, so what?"

"The elves are supplying Apex pack in Canas. You may not know the-"

"I know them," she said. "I know of you as well." She took the arrow away back in the carrier on her back. Sous got up and headed toward her wand, but the elf girl held out her hand. The wand flew to her hand, passing Sous. Sous realized quickly this girl was an advanced spellcaster. Her having a laptop meant she lived up to the elves reputation of technology and innovation.

"Can I have my wand?"

"I don't know. I don't like that you followed me, thinking that I was from Trey."

"Fine," Sous said, rolling her eyes. "Can you at least make me dry?"

The elf girl held up her dominate hand and a gust of wind swirled around Sous, making her clothes and hair dry. She even lifted up off the ground and few feet. She landed back down and began to walk around, checking out the little make shift office. It was apparent the elf girl wasn't the only person to hang out here. There were other desk, chairs, and small book cases.

The elf girl walked to a desk with test tubes and liquid, an alchemy lab basically. She picked up a bottle and walked to Sous. She held it out but Sous was cautious. The elf girl shoved it in Sous' chest.

"Its a potion, so you won't catch a cold."

Sous turned the bottle into her hand, twirling it around, watching the pink liquid go from up and down then to center when she turned the bottle on its side.

She opened the bottle and drunk it then handed it back to the elf girl. She stepped back, looking around. On the cave walls, there were pictures and paintings, and advertisements of various clubs. While the elf girl worked on whatever still having Sous' wand, Sous looked at each picture on the cave walls.

The elf girl got up from the desk and looked at Sous. Sous was just standing there, looking at something.

"Is something wrong?"

Sous was looking a poster that read 'Wolves Unite'. Completely entranced by this image, she didn't noticed when the elf girl came to her side.

"Oh, that club was dispelled," the elf girl said.

"Why?"

"It was a group funded by Apex. That's how I know who they are. That's how I know you. I did research on Apex to find out why the school would ban the club." The elf girl walked back to her desk. "You can take that poster."

Sous undid the poster from the wall, taking a better look at it. The poster further read that only wolves were allowed to join, no mutts. Full blooded only. At the bottom of the poster in fine print, that was where it said it was sponsored by Apex. Apex had their hands in everything. The more she explored, the more she found out just how much of a reach the pack had. This was so much bigger than her.

"Sous?"

Sous snapped her head to look at the elf girl.

"Are you okay?"

Sous gulped then folded the poster. She shrugged, just unsure of what to say. She felt nauseated.

"I...I think I need to sit down."

The elf girl pulled up a seat and allowed Sous to sit down in the chair. She proceeded to go to a barrel which held fresh water and pour water into a small steel cup. She handed it to Sous who took a sip.

It was discovered the water led to a boating dock. The reason why they door was bolted locked was because the school didn't use the boating docks anymore for travel such as importing and exporting. There was also another level to the water which led into the cave where they were right now.

"You didn't hear it from me but I think that club is still holding meetings." She walked to the desk and picked up Sous' wand. Sous took the wand and leaned back in her seat, finishing the water.

"What's your name?"

"I'll tell you if we see each again two more times," the elf girl said. "No point in giving you my name if we're never going to see each other again." She placed her hand on Sous' forehead. "Also, don't tell anyone about this place." She flicked Sous on the forehead.

Sous found herself falling and landing on the cafeteria floor. Luckily there weren't many students on campus, so not many witnessed the embassassing moment. She got up rubbing her back, picking up her wand.

Sous held her bath towel in her hand as she went into the female restroom. She had the entire place to herself, the tub about the size of an indoor pool with statue fountains on the outer layer.

She stood in front of the mirror looking at her nude form. Sous was growing. Her body was becoming fuller, her wolf genes were making Alpha show, she was lean and muscular. Growing in placed that made her blush in front of the mirror. She poked at the antenna horns growing on her head. She sighed.

In her pile of her clothes was the basilisk egg inside the jar. No reason in particular, she decided to bring the egg with her into the bath.

She picked the egg up and brought with her as she took the steps into the large bath. The egg floated within the water as the egg rode the waves Sous made in the water. She laughed playing with the small green egg.

Crack!

Sous stopped moving. She heard the crack of the egg. It was earlier than expected. She swum to it, cupping it in her hands, staring wide eye at it.

"Here it comes," she whispered. The small serpent poked at the egg, chipping away at the shell. "Come on, little guy, you can do it!" She egged the serpent on-laughing at the encouragement she was providing it, like a proud parent. Her voice got louder and she jumped up and down, creating stronger waves. "You can do it!"

The serpent broke free of the egg. The shell peices falling apart in the water. Sous picked at extra egg shells still on the snake until she brought the baby snake up, no longer nor bigger than the palm of her own hand. They stare into each other's eyes. Once it got older, it'll be able to turn Sous into stone but at that moment, they just stared at one another.

"Is that a basilisk?"

Both Sous and the baby serpent jumped, startled by the new edition in the restroom. The baby serpent entered into the water and circled itself around Sous' leg.

Sous looked up to see Makala standing before her with her bath towel draped over her arm.

"Where'd you get a basilisk?" She smacked her lips, making her way to the restroom to change out of her clothes. "If he had anything to do with it-!" She yelled from the restroom.

Sous didn't realized who she was talking about until she remembered the interaction she had with the pixie boy earlier that day.

She stepped out of the restroom and dived into the bath. She swum under water for a while until popping up next to Sous. The basilisk had crawled its way back up Sous, curling around her neck.

"He didn't have anything to do with it. This basilisk is mine."

Makala was confused for a moment. "Like yours yours?"

Sous nodded her head.

"But why?"

It was a long story to tell her about the basilisk egg industry and how the eggs were sold for various reasons. It was easier to just shrug and enjoy the bath. The girls went their own ways, taking their own private time to do what they pleased.

Sous relaxed in the corner, her body relaxed but her mind was still spinning about the poster she saw down below in the cave. Her hand instinctively went to her next, feeling the seal on her neck that was no longer burning. She wasn't sure what happened back there: the light, the pain but she was alive. She was alive and she wanted to find out more about this Wolves Unite club.
