Chapter 948: 945: So Be It
It was said that of all the many sins that were in existence, there were few that had led to the death and destruction of those who committed those sins.
Greed was one of the few sins that often led to the death and destruction of the unfortunate that fall to this sin, and Raj Brujah was about to become an unfortunate soul.
After seeing the Celestial Dewfern in Corey's hands, he suddenly forgot about the danger of the Immortal Leopard, and he started to think about how to obtain the Celestial Dewfern.
If not for the presence of the Immortal Leopard, he would have killed the foolish and strange Tier 3 without hesitation. But he could not do that.
'Finding another Grade 7 herb, talk less of a high grade herb like the Celestial Dewfern can take decades or even centuries, and by that time, I might become old and I would not be as strong as I currently am.'
'I can choose to advance on my strength, but I'm not confident in surviving the tribulation with my current strength.'
'I need the Celestial Dewfern to not only increase my chances of survival, but to also increase my current power.'
Raj's eyes flashed with a dangerous and greedy glint, and then he smiled at Corey.
"No problem. My clan has a formation that should be able to protect all of us and you guys from the Immortal Beast. Just hand over the Celestial Dewfern so that I can ensure that the Immortal Beast does not get its hands on it. It would not be a good thing if it gets the herb you guys worked so hard to get."
A conflicted expression appeared on Corey's face, but when he heard the furious roar of the Immortal Leopard, he suddenly disappeared, and then he instantly appeared beside Raj as he was running.
"Here. You can have it."
Corey placed the Celestial Dewfern in Raj's robe, and a baffled and stunned expression could be seen on his face.
Corey smiled, and then he gave a salute to Raj before disappearing once again.
"Huh?"
Raj was stunned, and a second later, he looked at the Celestial Dewfern with dazed eyes.
ROAR!!!!
"HUMAN!!!"
The Immortal Leopard's roar of fury shook him out of his stunned state, and he looked behind him, expecting to see both Corey and Pamela.
But he saw none.
The only thing he saw was a furious Immortal Leopard standing in one spot without moving. However, its eyes which seemed to contain the fury of the demons of hell was fixed on him, and Raj stopped breathing for a moment. But he didn't stop running for his life.
'Son of a thousand bitches!'
'He escaped?! How?! Was it through a treasure? No. It has to be through a treasure. I can't even sense his aura and the aura of the woman anymore.'
'Those bastards tricked me. If I knew that they had a way to travel an extremely far distance, I would have never asked for the Celestial Dewfern.'
'This is me drawing all the attention of the Immortal Leopard, and the culprits are nowhere to be found.'
'I'll kill them. I'll kill them if I survive!'
"Human."
To his surprise, the Immortal Leopard spoke to him, disrupting his thoughts of a thousand tortures and painful deaths to put Corey and Pamela through, especially Corey. Although he had the urge to stop, he did not.
The more distance he put between him and the Immortal Leopard, the higher the chances of him surviving an attack of the Immortal Leopard.
"Drop the Celestial Dewfern and I'll spare your life and the lives of your allies. The only person I want dead is that mortal."
The extremely deep voice of the Immortal Leopard resounded across the entire ridge, and Raj's expression changed slightly for a moment.
He immediately felt the gaze of his clan members, and he knew that they were waiting for his decision.
His mind told him that the right decision to make was to give the Immortal Leopard the Celestial Dewfern so that they could all survive and live for another day.
As long as they survived, they would be able to find other treasures like the Celestial Dewfern or maybe even stronger and better than the Celestial Dewfern... Right?
Wrong!
Raj Brujah knew that there were other treasures, but the problem was finding a treasure like the Celestial Dewfern that would make his foundation a lot stronger, increase his talent, and make him to be an above average Tier 7.
There were other treasures that could do such a thing, but the problem was finding such treasures that was not found, protected, or owned by an Immortal or a powerful organization.
Only he knew how hard he had been working for his clan so that he could gain enough merits to acquire an opportunity that would increase his talents and foundation.
However, the increase could not be compared to what he would gain from the Celestial Dewfern.
He was close to acquiring enough merits, and if he was able to accomplish his mission on New Earth, he would have gained enough merit for the opportunity from his Clan.
But who knew how long the mission would be, before he was able to complete it?
Seeing the opportunity which he had always been waiting for right in his arms, the temptation was too much for him despite the danger.
'If I'm able to absorb the Celestial Dewfern, my talent and foundation would skyrocket, and I'll definitely be amongst the strongest Tier 7s in our clan.'
'I might even be able to ascend to Tier 8 in the future and become the Clan Leader, and gain a seat amongst the Elder Vampire Council.'
'The opportunity the clan wants to give me can't be compared to this. I need this. I want this. I don't think I'll be able to live with myself if I miss it out.'
A dangerous and ambitious glint flashed in his eyes as he shifted his gaze to his clan members that were running along with him.
'Sorry guys. I'll need all of you to become stepping stones for my goals. One Tier 7 is more valuable than a hundred Tier 6s.'
"We fight." He said with a determined and somewhat crazed look while staring into the eyes of the Immortal Leopard who was barely restraining its fury.
"Then so be it." The Immortal Leopard said, and what happened next showed how those below Tier 7 were like ants before their might.
And Raj began to regret his decision at some point.
