Chapter 914: 911: Undying Will
After thinking and creating multiple simulations in his mind, Corey decided that one of the things he was going to do in the future was to make some changes to his armor, and not just his weapon.
He could not just focus on his offense when he still had his defense to worry about.
And speaking of offense, the next reward was a rune called Necrosigil.
When Corey accepted this reward, he was slightly curious because he wondered how the Universal System was going to give him this reward.
Was it going to ask him to choose the weapon he wanted to inscribe the rune on?
Or would he able to keep it until he decided to use it.
If it was the latter, then he was curious as to how the Universal System was going to do it.
And to his slight surprise, it was the latter.
The moment he accepted the reward, a black rune appeared at the back of his hand. The rune was extremely strange, and it looked like a flaming incomplete maw.
Corey observed the rune for a few seconds before putting on his ghost gloves, an item he had not had a use for a long time.
The Necrosigil was a very powerful and deadly rune that could turn even a kitchen knife into a very dangerous weapon.
If one wore an armor, it gave the weapon the ability to ignore the armor and cut through the person's body itself.
Even barriers and defensive skills would be non-existent with the power of the rune, and Corey knew just how valuable this was.
And he also knew that he could not waste the rune on just any weapon. The rune further solidified his plan of crafting his very own weapon, and he could not wait till he was a hundred percent certain in being able to successfully craft the weapon.
The very next reward was the most mysterious reward out of every single reward he had ever been given.
Undying Will
When it came to wills, what Corey knew was merely... theories.
'I've read books on Wills, but what they all say is something superficial. They say Will is just how strong one's mind is, and how one is able to remain standing in the face of immense danger and adversity.'
'Many of the books I have only have theories on Wills, and one mentioned something very interesting.'
'It stated that it's only when one is a Tier 9, one is able to form their Will. According to the book, one has to completely form their Will to be able to ascend to the mystical and legendary Tier 10.'
'It's only a theory, but it's one I take very seriously.'
Corey furrowed his brows slightly as he looked at the reward, Undying Will.
There were so many reasons why he was just accepting his rewards despite a week having gone by, but one of them was related to his uncertainty about this reward.
It was strange, extremely strange to Corey that he got this reward... This strange Will has a reward.
Although he knew that killing Death who was the most powerful enemy he had ever faced was an unbelievable feat... Especially as a Mortal.
He didn't believe that he was meant to gain a reward that was meant for Tier 10s.
Beings that seemed to be at the apex of his Universe.
Not only that, the nature of the Will itself was somewhat strange to him.
His instincts were not telling him not to take it. In fact, he knew that possessing this Will was a life saving card. However, he had just one thought.
One very particular thought.
If he got this Will because of his past life.
If he accepted the Will, in a way, he would be immortal. If he was not wrong, he might never truly experience true death unless his body, spirit, and soul are destroyed at the exact moment.
He did not know if this was true immortality, but what he did know, was that this might be related to his past life, and why he had reincarnated... although without his memories.
His theory was that his past life possessed this Will, and although his past life was killed by the Supreme Ancestor. For some strange possible reason, his body, spirit, and soul were not destroyed at the exact same moment, causing him- Corey Junior Zane to be born.
Corey had a feeling that this was an ability of Undying Will, and he decided to Nina.
Unsurprisingly, her answer was...
{Don't ask for my suggestions on what path you should take, what you should not do, what you should do, and also about your past.}
{If I was not here, you would have made your decision yourself.}
{It's only when I know that you're making a irreparable and extremely terrible mistake would I advise you and talk.}
{... Or if I ever feel like... You still owe me ice cream and chocolates by the way.}
When Corey heard this, he was not truly surprised or pissed off by her refusal to help. A part of him expected it. Although it was disappointing, a part of him expected it.
However, what he didn't know was that Nina was not only shocked by the fact that the Universal System gave him Undying Will as a reward, she was also shocked by the fact that Corey was able to make a connection between Undying Will and his past life.
And he was mostly right.
To Nina, she was annoyed by how cautious Corey could be about certain things, but when it came to other things, he was careless.
For example, his decision not to create and master extremely powerful new spells beforehand, and not just in the spur of a battle.
She knew that Corey could create extremely powerful spells just like he did with-Dawnbreaker: Scripture of Solar Condemnation.
He had created an extremely powerful spell as a mortal, and she knew that Corey could do so much more with everything he had. But he chose not to, all because he refused to show all that he was capable of in a battle... Unless he had no choice.
It was truly annoying to her.
But despite this, she could no longer deny the fact that Corey was a talented Paragon who would even make some of the extremely talented Paragons to sweat.
Meanwhile, Corey did not know any of this, and even if he knew, he would not feel anything just because of Nina's thoughts.
Instead, his mind was on the Undying Will, and after exhaling deeply, he chose to accept the reward.
