Chapter 913: 910: Tweaks
At first, Corey felt that the rewards he got from the Universal System was too much in both quantity and quality. But after thinking about it, he knew that he deserved it.
Although he had not faced the true body of Death, he had faced Death who possessed a body that was far more powerful than any enemy he had ever encountered.
Death was exceedingly strong. So strong to the point that when he finally got his crown and was able to move, he had just stretched out his hand and Corey found himself unable to move.
At that moment, Corey knew that there was nothing he could do. There was no new spell or skill move he could create to defeat Death, and even his Paragon Martial Arts would not be enough to defeat him.
He had no idea how strong Death was at that moment. Maybe he was as strong as a Tier 7? Tier 8? Tier 9? Or maybe even Tier 10?
He had no idea, but he
If he tried to fight back, he would be like a child throwing a tantrum.
However, through luck and also a little bit of careful planning and patience, he won.
He killed Death, and the Universal System had rewarded him greatly for such a feat.
The first reward given to him was a skill. A very powerful attack skill which was very strange to him.
Scythe of the Final Breath allowed him to summon a soul-bound weapon that could cut through both flesh and fate. It could also ignore defenses, and could stop regeneration and reduce the enemy's vitality.
Corey had never heard of a skill that allows one to summon a 'soul-bound' weapon. It was rather strange to Corey because the Universal System could have given him a weapon, or the scythe itself with all these abilities. However, the Universal System gave him this skill, and he was a little curious as to why.
When he thought about it, he guessed that it was most likely because if there was actually a weapon with this ability, he might not be able to use it.
As for the grade of the skill, the Universal System did not show it at first, but when Corey finally accepted the reward after so long, he saw that it was an Ancient Grade skill, just like his Lightning Movement Art.
It was a little bit surprising to Corey that such a skill was not at the Divine Grade, and he could not help but wonder how Divine Grade skills were.
When it came to skills and the grades of skills, Corey had never truly focused on them because he felt that there was no reason for him to focus on the grading of skills for one reason and one reason alone.
He was planning on removing himself from the Universal System.
And if he did that, that meant that he would not be using the grading systems of the Universal System for a lot of things.
The second skill was one which Corey did not expect to get at all, and one which truly surprised him.
Crown of the Lifeless Sovereign.
Just like Scythe of the Final Breath, Corey had a feeling that Crown of the Lifeless Sovereign should be an item, not a skill. And although he had not activated the skill, he knew that it was related to the crown of black bones which Death had worn.
'Now, I'm curious. Could that Old One's true title be the Lifeless Sovereign and not Death?' Corey wondered with a curious expression, and then he also accepted the reward.
The moment he accepted it, he checked its grade, and when he saw the grade, a soft chuckle escaped his lips.
"Divine Grade huh."
When Corey thought about it, he was not surprised. Although the ability of the skill seemed normal, Corey had a feeling that before able to control Death Qi was not normal at all.
His knowledge on Qi was very minimal, and despite his talents, he had not been able to sense the presence of Qi at all.
However, with this skill, he would have Death Qi, and he would be able to control it. He would also have an aura that could weaken living beings and strengthen the dead or his allies which had an affinity for Death energy.
Corey was not certain if this meant that he would be able to control undeads or awaken the dead.
However, what he did know was that the skill was extremely powerful, and something he needed.
If he was not in the midst of so many people, he would have tried to summon the crown to see how it worked, but he chose to leave it for the future.
For now, his Stars of Consciousness were working on analyzing and understanding both skills.
The next reward was one that made Corey to wonder if he should find a way to unbind the Devourers Armor from his body, spirit, and soul.
The Gravenheart Armor was an extremely powerful armor which could literally protect him from Tier 9s!
He had never encountered a Tier 9 before, but the Gravenheart Armor was one of the few items in the universe that could protect one from a Tier 9.
If Corey had this, he would not have been afraid of his lightning tribulation at all because it could not be compared to the attack of a Tier 9 in the slightest.
It made him to seriously consider finding a way to remove the Devourers Armor from him, because the Devourers Armor would not allow him to wear another armor.
It would kill him if he ever tried to wear the Gravenheart Armor.
Although Corey was tempted by the Gravenheart Armor, he decided to keep the Devourers Armor for one reason and one reason alone.
It could grow.
The Devourers Armor could grow, but the Gravenheart Armor could not.
And Corey planned on feeding the Gravenheart Armor to his Devourers Armor, after he made a few tweaks to his Devourers Armor.
