Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon

Chapter 912: 909: Rewards

Each continent of New Earth had a golden chain, and the regions around the golden chain became battlegrounds.

Organizations, groups, and families of each continent battled one another to gain control of the region around a golden chain.

There were some organizations and groups that were unlucky to have had a golden chain land in their region. These groups were attacked, threatened, or destroyed by more powerful organizations.

There were some golden chains in certain continents that were in locations which were not favourable for a lot of organizations.

For example, two golden chains were located at the borders of the Sanguine and Lycan Continent, making the area which was already a battleground, to become much more deadly.

A fierce war occurred between the two races as they battled to not only own a golden chain, but to also protect it from the hands of their enemies.

The vampires wanted to have two golden chains, and the werewolves also wanted to have two golden chains.

One might ask of what use is it to have ownership of a golden chain, and there were several.

One was that vagabond adventurers, hunters, scavengers, criminals, and relic seekers would need to pay a fee to be able to ascend the golden chain.

Other organizations and groups that were not affiliated to the organization that was in charge of the golden chain would also have to pay a fee to be able to ascend the golden chain.

This alone made a lot of organizations rich. It was profit.

It also allowed the organizations to be able to scout out for potential talented and powerful individuals they could bring into their group.

Also, any suspicious individual, or any individual that was an enemy of the organization was prevented from ascending the golden chains.

Another reason why it was advantageous for one to have control over the region of a golden chain was because the golden chains also benefited those who could climb it.

At first, nobody knew of this because the organizations that gained control of the golden chains did not publicize it so that they could make use of the benefit to the maximum.

The golden chain could increase the core of one's mana core, purify one's mana, strengthen one's mana veins, and also remove the impurities in one's body. And the higher one climbed the golden chain, the stronger all these benefits would be.

The golden chains was like a heavenly treasure one could only find by luck and chance.

The benefits it could give was even enough to make the Outsiders of elite organizations greedy and full of desire.

Such benefits were usually gotten from extremely rare treasures, and the Universal System had casually created one just to prevent the continental-sized landmass from causing a catastrophe on New Earth?

Some who had an inkling as to why the Universal System did this called the Universal System unfair because they were certain the Universal System would never go to such lengths to protect another planet.

How many planets in the middle of their awakening phase have been destroyed by outside forces?

Countless.

And the Universal System did not go out of its way to protect them.

Why?

Because New Earth was a Blessed World.

As a Blessed World, New Earth would always be favoured by the Universal System, and protecting it from a meteorite as large as a continent was one of the things the Universal System could do.

----

In a particular location on the Haven Continent, tents and simple structures made out of wood and stone could be seen surrounding one of the golden chains.

In one of the simple stone buildings, Corey sat on a chair with his right leg placed on his left leg, and his head resting on his right fist.

In front of him was a translucent screen which showed all the rewards he was given after he defeated Death, rid the Dying City of its corruption, and destroyed the entire Dying City.

Unlike the previous times where he was rewarded for killing Eidolon and the fragment of the Thirteenth Calamity of Virendell, the rewards he was given by the system was a lot. And he didn't have to choose this time around.

He was given all the rewards... Eight rewards to be exact.

And in front of him was the notification panel showing him all his rewards.

----

[Scythe of the Final Breath (Skill)- A summoned, soul-bound weapon that cuts through both flesh and fate. It ignores defenses, and can stop regeneration and reduce the enemy's vitality.]

[Crown of the Lifeless Sovereign (Skill)- Allows the user to summon a crown which temporarily grants the user Death Qi, and increases the user's control over Death Qi. It also grants the user an aura that weakens living beings and strengthens the dead/allies with an affinity for Death energy.]

[Gravenheart Armor- Made from the blackened remnants of Archmage Kael who was possessed by Death. It absorbs attacks that can kill the user once every day, and reflects lethal energy back. The limit of the armor is Tier 9.]

[Necrosigil- A rune that can be inscribed into a weapon to permanently make it ignore physical and metaphysical defenses.]

[Undying Will- The body, spirit, and soul of the possessor of this will cannot be erased entirely unless all three are destroyed at the exact same moment.]

[Rune Crystal of Cataclysmic Rebirth- A unique rune crystal that can only be activated in destroyed lands, creating an area of life and abundance from pure nothingness- but beware, the rebirth will carry hints of the owner's nature. It also needs to be nurtured.]

[Lifeless Hourglass- Can freeze a person's death moment for up to three hours, suspending them between life and death. It has a hidden function.]

[Coffin of a Thousand Ends- A portable spatial coffin that traps enemies inside a nightmare of their own deaths until their soul shatters.]

----

These were all the rewards Corey obtained from defeating Death, and completing the system trial.

And Corey had just one word to describe the rewards.

Unbelievable.
