Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon

Chapter 915: 912: Claim (Bonus Chapter)

The moment Corey accepted Undying Will, the world went silent around him.

He heard nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Even when he increased the output of his Ears of Omniscience, he still heard nothing.

He frowned and was about to get up, but he realized that he could not. He could not even frown, and his lips could not even move.

Badum

The first sound Corey heard was a sound that was similar to that of a heart beat, and it was loud.

Badum

At first, Corey thought it was his heart, but when it came again, he realized that he was wrong.

It was not coming from his heart, but his head. Inside of his head. In the depths of his Sea of Consciousness.

And when Corey observed his Sea of Consciousness, he realized that it was coming from his Soul Origin.

The gigantic chained white star.

It was beating like a heart, and Corey observed it with narrowed eyes.

He took a step closer to it, but then his Soul Origin released a pulse which sent him flying and out of his Sea of Consciousness.

He gasped loudly.

And at that moment, he perceived something. Something that came and went as fast as lightning.

It was a gaze. A gaze that reminded him of a predator locking onto prey. It was cold, suffocating, and it also felt inescapable.

The gaze was so fleeting to the point that Corey felt that he had been wrong about what he sensed. But he had a feeling that he was not.

'Am I being targeted by an extremely powerful being because of this Will?'

Just as Corey had this thought, a soundless boom erupted in the depths of his being. His breath hitched. His true heartbeat stuttered. And for a split second, it felt as though his body, spirit, and soul were torn apart into countless fragments... only to be forced back by something ancient and immovable.

Black lightning surged out of his body, and his eyes widened when he felt the power behind each bolt.

It was not extremely powerful, but it had enough power to kill Tier 4s and Tier 5s with ease. Only Tier 6s and above could defend against them.

This would not have been a problem if he was in a secluded place, but he was in an encampment. A place that had hundreds of people.

For many of them, he did not care about their lives, but there were some whom he did not want to die.

Besides, if he killed so many people, he would be in a very annoying and troublesome situation.

Just as the black lightning was about to strike the walls and turn it to ash, formations appeared on the walls, and the black bolts of lightning were not able to pass through the walls.

When Corey saw this, relief appeared in his eyes, and he exhaled deeply.

He didn't need to ask or think too deeply about who had just acted because he already knew the answer to that.

Pamela.

Although he was not certain if she had been observing him, but he did not care at the moment. All that mattered to him was that she helped him to prevent hundreds of deaths.

Corey looked at his body, and he wondered what he was to do next. But a few moments later, the black lightning clung to his body and started moving across his entire body.

As the black lightning moves across every single fiber of his being, he could feel his veins throbbing, not with blood, but with an unfamiliar energy that was both heavy and unyielding. As though the very concept of survival itself had been liquified and poured into them.

He could feel everything about himself changing, and becoming more... deeply intertwined and connected with one another.

He felt like he had more control over his body, spirit, soul, and a lot of other things. And this was surprising to Corey because he believe that he already had nigh-perfect control over all these things.

Corey's vision suddenly turned dark.

No. Dark was not the proper way to explain it.

Endless.

He stood in a boundless void, an ocean of shadows where the concept of time itself felt hesitant to exist. In the distance, something pulsed, and each beat was like a true titan's drum. With every pulse, a whisper brushed against the edges of his mind in a language he had never heard of, but somehow still felt natural to him.

Endure

Resist

Survive

The whispers grew louder, until they became a roar that shook the ocean of shadows and caused tumultuous waves.

His eyes automatically transformed into his Tri-Pupil Eyes, and the world of shadows shattered like glass in front of him. He then began to feel an unknown power that did not come from his Infinity Crystals, his Void Phoenix Heart, his Paragon Bloodline, his Mental space, or his weapons.

It was a power that felt like it came from him, but then a frown appeared on his face as he felt a... dissonance.

A grimace appeared on his face when he felt his spirit getting twisted before straightening, and his Cosmic Soul convulsed slightly before becoming more... solid with more cracks appearing on it.

His body also shuddered as though it was about to reject the transformation, but six seconds later, it stopped.

Corey did not move a single muscle, and a frown appeared on his face as he closed his eyes and observed his body- both internally and externally.

A few seconds later, he saw some of the chains binding his Soul Origin shatter, and a wave of immense soul energy flooded his Sea of Consciousness.

He felt stronger and more... free.

His eyes opened, and a flash of black lightning flickered across his pupils before vanishing. The space around him rippled once, like water that was disturbed by an unseen force. Then it became calm.

Corey inhaled deeply. His chest rose, and his heart began beating once again. To his surprise, the sound was loud. Loud enough for those outside to hear it and glance at the building he was in.

However, he didn't care about that. He cared more the changes that had just occurred to his body.

He felt more... alive than ever before, if one could ever say that.

And he felt more... enduring?

Like as if even death itself would have to bargain for the right to claim him.
