Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon

Chapter 791: 788: Shard of Heaven's Fury

Lightning Affinity

The more Corey observed his body, the more surprised he was that he was able to obtain an affinity.

One of the benefits he expected to obtain after successfully surviving his lightning tribulation was Lightning Resistance, not Lightning Affinity.

His thought process was completely normal because this was what some people obtained after successfully surviving a lightning tribulation.

Lightning Resistance.

Apart from the fact that it was absolutely normal for him to get Lightning Resistance instead of Lightning Affinity, another reason why he was surprised that he obtained Lightning Affinity was because he was a Paragon.

A Paragon with any elemental infinity crystal would naturally attain a higher level of resistance to the element as they climbed the ladder of power.

Paragons were the banes of Mages and beings whose combat power relied on affinities.

Corey had never bothered to check his affinities because affinities meant nothing to him since he could easily manipulate elemental runes with his immense mental capabilities.

Corey observed the black lightning in his mana that was similar to the tribulation lightning, and his brows were furrowed in thought.

[It's not unbelievable that a Paragon is able to have affinities. If not for your talent and soul, you would have felt the difference in having an affinity and not having an affinity.]

Nina's voice resounded in his mind, and Corey blinked in surprise. He didn't expect Nina to talk to him without having to ask first.

"Paragons can also have affinities and resistance at the same time?"

Corey asked with a tinge of surprise in his tone.

If the answer was yes, then...

[Yes... Paragons can also have affinities.]

Corey narrowed his eyes, "But isn't that... too much? Having both affinities and resistance?... How does that even make sense?"

[It is.]

Nina replied without hesitation, and Corey could also perceive a tinge of pride in her voice.

[But... Even if Paragons can have affinities, they cannot obtain an affinity as easily as other races can.]

[The reason why you have a lightning affinity is because you allowed your Cosmic Soul to devour the tribulation lightning... Since the tribulation lightning barely nourished your body, you did not attain lightning resistance but lightning affinity.]

[It's rare instances like this that can allow a Paragon to obtain an affinity... Besides... You did not just obtain lightning affinity, your mana now has the properties of the tribulation lightning.]

[Because you're a Poison Warlock and the first Infinity Crystal you had was the Poison Infinity Crystal, your mana became toxic. After you fused with the Earth Infinity Crystal, your mana became heavier but it's appearance was still gaseous obviously. And after you fused with the Water Infinity Crystal, your mana flowed more smoothly and although it's in a gaseous form when you release it, it flows as smoothly as water.]

[Now that you fused your tribulation lightning into your Cosmic Soul, your mana has also changed, and it has lightning properties... Not only that, you should not forget that your mana has Mystic Force, which is a reason why your attacks are able to cause a lot of damage to Mystic Beings.]

[If your mana was not in the Astral grade but in the Mystic grade, your mana would even give Tier 7s and above a lot of issues.]

Corey's expression was stoic as he listened to Nina who was describing his mana.

He knew all of this, but hearing just how absurd his mana was becoming from the mouth of another person made him to feel an emotion he never expected to feel.

Pride.

Comparing his past self when he used to run away from Tier 0 Revenants which he called Smileys, to his current self was like the sun and the bottom of the abyss.

To some, it might seem that it had taken him no effort to reach this stage, but he knew that it had taken him effort.

He worked and risked his life for his current power.

'Power... Getting stronger... It feels good.'

Corey clenched his hands with a stoic expression, and some moments later, he spoke.

"What about the shard I got from the eleventh lightning tribulation? What is it?"

[A shard of Heaven's Fury.]

"A shard of Heaven's Fury?" Corey tilted his head with an intrigued expression.

[Yes... I'd strongly advise you to not use it since you're still a Mortal... You'll need to be a Tier 7 at the very least to use it without killing yourself.]

Corey's eyes widened in shock, "Tier 7? I thought you were going to become a Mystic Being at the very least?"

[That is a shard of Heaven's Fury, Corey. It's not just candy, and the amount of power it has is immeasurable. You won't be able to sense it because of your low power level, but that finger nail sized shard has enough power to destroy all life on your planet.]

[Do you still think it's something you can handle so easily?]

Corey was stunned the moment he heard Nina's words, and with an expression that was full of disbelief, he looked at the Shard of Heaven's Fury that was in his palm.

"This tiny thing has enough power to destroy my world?"

[Yes.]

"That's absurd."

[Did you think the name- Heaven was a joke?]

Corey remained silent and could not respond for some seconds. He eventually exhaled deeply, and then he shook his head with a wry smile.

"I can store it in my Tri-Pupil Eyes right?"

[Yes you can.]

Corey's lips twitched, "You're sure?"

[Yes. I'm sure.]

Corey's lips twitched once again, "You're absolutely sure, Nina?"

[... Ask me that question one more time and I'll make sure you regret it for life.]

Corey chuckled softly with a strained smile, "Fine, fine. I'll believe you."

[Hmph.] Nina scoffed.

Corey glanced at the shard, and with a deep exhale, he sent it into his Tri-Pupil Eyes.

He waited without breathing or blinking as he inspected the shard with scrutiny.

Some seconds later, he released a sigh of relief.

"Feels like I have a fucking nuke in me."
