Chapter 787: 784: Conquer It
The moment several powerhouses, and brave and foolish mortals entered the scorched, shattered, and barren lands of the Trollspire Dungeon, their hearts were shaken by the scale of destruction and the lingering aura they could feel in the very air.
They began investigating, searching for clues on the source of the terrifying lightning tribulation that should not have occurred on an ascending world like New Earth.
Some thought that the source of the tribulation was a treasure.
Some thought that it was a legacy.
Some thought it was maybe a powerful being that had found its way into New Earth, and was forced to face a tribulation.
Some thought it was the appearance of a powerful beast or monster.
A lot of thoughts and guesses appeared in the minds of everybody as they scoured every inch of the Trollspire Dungeon in search of the source of the tribulation.
Only if they knew that the man that was responsible for every tribulation that had occurred on New Earth was in an unknown place that was far away from the destruction.
----
Corey laid down beside a quiet late with Rhea standing by his right in her normal-sized raven form. His body had begun regenerating slowly.
He was breathing heavily.
His eyes were closed.
And despite everything... he was smiling.
He had survived.
Just barely.
He recalled the last scene of him surviving the eleventh lightning bolt, and he could not help but thank his lucky stars that his decision to do something out of pure boredom had saved him.
Upgrade his Devourers Armor.
It was his Devourers Armor, the only armor he could wear, that had saved him from the eleventh lightning bolt.
His Devourers Armor was one of the trump cards he kept hidden when he was in the Underworld, and if possible, he didn't want to expose it because of it's abilities.
The Devourers Armor had the ability to reduce the physical and magical attacks of a Tier 5 by a 70%, and it had the ability to reduce a Tier 6's attack by 50%.
It had several other abilities, but as an Indigo grade growth armor, it was powerful.
The eleventh lightning tribulation was equal to the attack of a peak Tier 6 with a strong foundation, and if not for the armor that had reduced the eleventh lightning by more than half, he would be a corpse by now.
During his three year training, one of the things he did was to upgrade his Devourers Armor by making it devour other powerful armors.
He once thought that he would have no use for the armor or that he was wasting his time upgrading it, but fortunately for him, he was wrong.
'I can feel it... The power building up inside of me... How strong would I become once I'm fully healed and I've fully absorbed the power of the lightning tribulation?'
'... It seems that I have to start looking for a bigger platform to grow stronger.'
'... But finding and saving Anna comes first.'
Corey exhaled a turbid misty breath, and then he glanced at Rhea.
For a while, neither of them said a word.
Then Corey spoke softly.
"... Are we safe?"
Rhea tilted her head slightly, and then she nodded.
"For now."
Corey released a light breath.
"Good... I really need a break to completely absorb everything I obtained from the tribulation."
He chuckled faintly as he recalled the fury of the heavens, but then a groan escaped his lips as pain surged through his body.
His body was not close to being fully healed at all.
Rhea flapped her wings and perched on his head, causing Corey's left brow to twitch.
"I told you not to overdo it during your training."
"I could not help myself. It was fun seeing my progress and learning new things."
Rhea narrowed her glowing black eyes, "You'll get yourself killed at this rate."
Corey smiled, but didn't say anything. He then looked at the sky for a few seconds.
The sky here was calm. Blue. Peaceful.
It was hard to believe that minutes ago, he had faced the wrath of the heavens.
"... It would have been nice if I had been able to trap the eleventh lightning bolt or slowly absorb the energy like I did for the others... How unfortunate that I wasted a lot of its energy."
Corey sighed once again, but in the next moment, a finger nail sized crystal appeared in front of his face.
Corey was stunned when he saw the black crystal, and his eyes widened when he saw it release a faint black spark.
Its aura was extremely similar to that of the tribulation lightning.
The crystal pulsed faintly, and another spark appeared around it, releasing a pressure that felt... both divine and deadly.
"What's this?"
Corey tried to hold the crystal, but Rhea closed her wing around it.
"I don't know. But I don't think you should be touching it with the current state of your body. The lightning in it is enough to fry a normal astral being to ash."
"Hmm." Corey hummed, and then he smirked.
"I guess I'll have to find out after my body is fully healed." Corey looked at Rhea, "Keep it for me then, and also be on a lookout for any danger."
Rhea nodded, "Sure thing."
Corey smiled, and then he slowly got into a seating position. He sat in a cross-legged position, and then he closed his eyes.
His body was still hurt. His Celestial Mana Veins were seriously damaged, and even his mental space had some injuries.
In fact, when he checked his Cosmic Soul, he could see slight damages on it, and a chill could not help but spread across his body.
'I was that close to death?'
Despite this thought, his mind was calm.
Because even though he was still far from the peak, he was getting closer little by little.
He had faced the wrath of the heavens.
And survived.
Barely.
But survival was enough.
For now.
Next was for him to explore the secrets of his world and if he desired... Conquer it.
