Chapter 490: 489: Time...
In the thousands of years he had lived, Raegar had experienced many things. He had experienced every emotion a man could have.
Sadness, Anger, Happiness, Pride, and so on.
He had experienced all of these, and no emotion or experience was truly 'new' for him. However, for the first time since he could remember, Raegar was truly stunned.
The blatant disdain, disregard, and indifference that Pamela had towards him was extremely shocking to him.
Not only did Pamela treat him like air, but she even had the audacity to tell him that she chose to fight him instead of his subordinate because he was weaker.
He, Raegar, Slayer of the Night King, The Crimson Blade of Falling Sky, and the Ascendant of the Crimson Sky was weaker than his subordinate?
He was being used as a chess piece by an Outsider who was two levels below him?
The shock and disbelief Raegar went through could not be fathomed, and although his expression only showed a little bit of shock on his face, the fact that not even a single muscle on his face moved portrayed just how stunned he was towards her words and actions.
Pamela noticed this, and then she scoffed.
"How pathetic."
She turned in the direction of Corey, Selene, and Aethara, and when she noticed the changes that were occurring to Aethara, an excited and fascinated glow flashed in her eyes.
However, in the next second, her expression became cold, and she slowly turned her head in Raegar's direction.
WHOOSH!
CRACKLE!
BOOM!
Her long black hair fluttered as a massive gust of wind blew into her face. A massive shockwave followed the gust of wind, and the dark clouds above dispersed due to the immense power behind the shockwave.
Despite how powerful the shockwave was, Pamela did not take a step back. A bolt of crimson lightning moved towards her face at a speed that was faster than the speed of normal lightning, however, the moment the distance between the crimson lightning bolt and Pamela was less than an inch, the bolt of lightning crumbled like paper.
Pamela did not even spare the crimson lightning bolt a glance, instead, it was on the tip of a massive greatsword that was less than a meter from her eyes.
Around the greatsword were crumbling debris of rock, stones, and earth, and each of these debris was burnt. Crackles of crimson electricity could also be seen running across some of the debris.
At the other end of the greatsword was Raegar, and in his eyes was disbelief, shock, bafflement, and confusion as he gazed at the sight before him.
In front of him was a massive thick wall of earth that rose from the ground beneath them. The wall was so thick to the point that five people the size of Raegar would barely be able to fill the thickness of the wall.
Raegar shifted his gaze from the crumbling wall of earth to the ground below. When he saw that the earth wall reached all the way down to the ground, the emotions in Raegar's eyes increased.
'She manipulated the ground beneath us to rise and block my attack. But how's that possible? Not only is this place filled with the lightning elemental energy which should make it more difficult to manipulate other elemental energies, but the speed at which the earth wall was formed was too fast… It was almost as fast as the speed of lightning… How is that possible?... How is earth able to move as fast as lightning?'
'Apart from the speed, the thickness is another thing… How could she perfectly control the earth wall and make it so strong and sturdy?' Find exclusive stories on empire
'How did she do it?... What is she?'
Raegar looked at Pamela with deeply furrowed brows. Meanwhile, Pamela had an indifferent expression.
"I'm getting tired of you distracting me… You can die now."
Pamela indifferently spoke, and then she clenched her right fist.
Before Raegar could respond to Pamela's words, the debris of rock, stones, and earth moved towards Raegar at a fast speed.
Although Raegar was taken aback and wary of Pamela's abilities, he was able to respond to her attack.
He swung his greatsword at the incoming debris of rock, stones, and earth, blowing them away and shattering all of them to dust.
However, the moment Raegar did this, his eyes widened and he looked down.
On his ankles were a pair of hands made out of rocks and stones, and when Raegar stared at the hands, his eyes moved to the earth wall.
The hands were connected to the earth wall.
Raegar frowned when he saw this, and he raised his greatsword to shatter the hands made out of rocks and stones.
Just as he was about to swing his greatsword, his pupils constricted when he saw a thick sphere of ice appear from thin air, and in a fraction of a second, it encased him and the earth hands completely.
Raegar tried to move his hand holding the greatsword, but before he could do this, thin lines of ice shot out from every single part of the ice sphere, and each thin line of ice pierced right into Raegar's body.
His arms, legs, chest, abdomen, head, and even eyes.
Ice started appearing on Raegar's body, and Raegar's eyes widened when he came to the startling realization that he could not move his body.
"How can you hope to defeat me when you don't even know anything about runes?... Only those who can either manipulate runes, see them, or at least have some knowledge of them would have a chance of defeating me…"
"... Well, if they are Tier 7s and above, then they'll kill me in the blink of an eye."
Pamela's voice, which was filled with indifference, disdain, and a tinge of arrogance flowed into Raegar's frozen ears.
Pamela chuckled softly, and then she shook her head. She saw Raegar's frozen pupils tremble in anger, and she shrugged nonchalantly.
She snapped her fingers, and when she did, a hundred translucent swords made out of the wind howled and surrounded Raegar's frozen figure.
With a nonchalant wave of her two fingers, she sent the wind swords at Raegar. The wind swords appeared before Raegar in the blink of a Mystic Being's eye, but just as the wind swords were a centimetre from touching Raegar… Time stopped.
