Chapter 482: 481: Two Steps
As Corey stared at the countless abominations and monsters that were created from the dark crimson liquid, he could not help but question his actual luck.
Ever since he appeared in the shattered dimension of the Old Ones, he had encountered situations that no tier 2, whether talented or average, should ever face. He had battled beings that could kill even Mystic Beings. He had also encountered monsters like Pamela and Aethara who were almost as talented as he was.
He had encountered so many things to the point that it was beginning to feel unreal and suspicious to him.
Previously, Corey was not certain, but facing Aethara was much more difficult than facing the Capra King.
The Capra King had underestimated him and did not kill him for some reason, however, Aethara was more careful, and to his disbelief, she was not taking any risks.
From the moment she transformed into the Fallen Angel of Rot and invoked her Imperium, she had not attacked Corey and was only using her Imperium to attack Corey while her piercing gold eyes observed him with a chilling calmness and indifference in them.
Corey had previously come up with a hypothesis that the reason why Aethara was not attacking him was probably because she could not move while in her Imperium, but he later dismissed it because his senses and instincts told him that Aethara could certainly move and that she was just choosing to observe him.
Corey was both happy and nervous about Aethara's actions, however, he was beginning to regret ever choosing to fight Aethara.
The aura and sheer presence Aethara was exuding caused Corey to feel goosebumps, and he was certain that her current strength was extremely close to that of the Capra King.
Although Aethara was strong, Corey was certain that the Capra King was stronger for two reasons. First of all, he was a Principality, a stage higher than Powers and Dreadkeepers. Also, he was a talented Principality, not an average Principality in the slightest.
Second of all, the Capra King had fused with an Earth Infinity Crystal.
The Capra King had not used close to his full powers on Corey at all, but Aethara was already using close to her full powers, and Corey was beginning to feel overwhelmed even though the injuries had could not be compared to the injuries he got when battling the Capra King.
Moving while carrying Selene, healing his injuries and Selene's, dodging the vines and crimson lightning bolts, manipulating the mini-blades of his Genesis Armament, controlling and creating the sentinels of his Hexagon Nova Shield, and executing Lightning Step, attacking, observing his surroundings, making sure that the rot in the air did not affect him and Selene, and so on.
There was a lot that Corey was performing at the same time, and if not for his unique mind, Corey would have had a mental breakdown if he tried such a thing without having his cosmic soul and stars of consciousnes.
Doing all of these was already stressful, but here he was, staring at a sea of abominations and monsters.
The abominations that appeared from the dark crimson liquid of each eye were more like humanoid tree monsters.
They were abominations that had humanoid shapes, no face, and their bodies were entirely made of vines and roots. Although they all had humanoid shapes, some were larger than the size of normal humans, some had a bunch of vines as their hands, and some had tree roots as legs or behind their backs.
Corey's pure white eyes observed the army of humanoid tree roots before him with a solemn gaze.
'More than ten thousand.'
A deep frown appeared on Corey's face, and a pondering light flashed in his eyes for a second before disappearing.
Corey exhaled deeply, and then he stopped infusing Dream Energy into Selene through Dream Healing.
"Make sure you don't die yet, Selene… Not after stressing me so much… Fight… Fight for your life."
Corey spoke into Selene's mind, and although she was unconscious, a faint moan escaped her lips along with a slight movement of her body.
Although it seemed like Selene was about to wake up, Corey knew that Selene was not about to wake up.
The reason for her moaning and movement of her body was because of the rot in the air. Corey was no longer healing her body with Dream Healing, and because of this, her body was beginning to rot.
However, to Corey's relief, her body was instinctively fighting the rot. Although her body was losing, it would take some time before she died from the rot in the air.
'Fifteen minutes at most.'
Corey came to this conclusion after observing her body, and then he started approaching the sea of abominations with calm and steady steps.
Only six seconds had passed after the appearance of the countless abominations, and Corey had been able to learn a few things about them.
First of all, the wooden abominations were not extremely powerful. Most of them were similar to Tier 3s, Tier 2s, and even Tier 1s. The strongest among the abominations were comparable to Tier 4s, and Corey was relieved by this.
Another thing that Corey observed was something that most would choose to ignore, but shouldn't. The wooden abominations were all made of the crimson vines and roots of the Tree of Rot, which meant that they were all connected to the Tree of Root.
'Unfortunately, I can't manipulate the runes in her Imperium…' Corey thought with a slightly frustrated light flashing in his eyes before vanishing entirely.
'... I wonder if she'll be able to manipulate the runes even in an Imperium… Most likely… Her class is Rune Sage after all.'
Just as Corey had this thought, the army of wooden abominations made a unified horrific growl that resounded across the Imperium, and then they ran toward Corey.
With Selene on his back, a calm gait, and his Genesis Armament in his right hand, Corey stopped walking and gazed at the countless wooden abominations approaching him.
Exactly three seconds later, Corey stomped his feet, and the entire ground beneath rumbled and trembled intensely. A visible wave could be seen moving across the ground at a fast speed, and then this wave reached the horde of wooden abominations.
When the wave reached a portion of the army of wooden abominations, the wooden abominations vibrated intensely, and then they all crumbled to dust.
Vibration Manipulation.
Corey took in a deep breath before releasing it deeply, and then a second later, he stomped once again.
This time around, a massive wall of an azure, silver, and violet flame appeared from Corey's feet and traveled towards the wooden abominations.
Three seconds later, the beautiful and deadly flame reached the horde of wooden abominations, and when it did, a loud shriek resounded across the Imperium, and Corey's eyes flashed coldly.
