Chapter 1646: Gathering in one spot
Though everyone was confused about why I had suddenly said this, they still gathered everyone like I requested.
Once everyone was gathered, it was quite the sight as the wyverns and airships set out from the capital.
With the way that everyone set off at once like this, it might have caused a misunderstanding if the people didn't know what they were. They would have thought that this was a fleet that was gathered to conquer the Mofu Mofu Kingdom with how terrifying it looked.
But in the end, the people of the Mofu Mofu Kingdom knew that this wasn't the case.
They knew that this group was heading out to actually protect them and the Mofu Mofu Kingdom.
As such, there were cheers that were coming from the ground as we headed out on the wyverns.
Though it was clear by the looks on everyone's face that there wasn't a single person that was interested in enjoying the cheers that came from below. It was clear that all of us were focused on one thing and one thing only.
As we were heading there, there was one thing that they had to ask me.
"Who will take the lead on this matter?"
Though it seemed like they already knew the answer to this question, King Kashou and the ministers still asked me this question.
I didn't say anything as I looked at them.
I could also see that there were others that were looking in our direction after they asked this.
After all, there was a significance in asking this question.
"It is your country, so I'll hand the lead to you." I said in a calm voice.
King Kashou shook his head before saying, "From the beginning, we were clearly out of our depth when it came to the matters of corruption energy. As such, it would be bad if we were to take the lead in this matter. That is why we hope that you will take the lead in this matter and lead everyone in this fight against the corruption energy."
"I will." I said without any extra words.
After all, that was the reason why he asked me this question in the end.
It was nothing more than a ritual to establish the chain of command at this point in front of everyone.
Only when there was a proper chain of command like this would they be able to do what they needed to do.
Of course, everyone knew that I would be the one that would be in charge since I was the one that was the best suited to deal with the corruption energy in the first place.
Still, this kind of ceremony was necessary since it would make things clear.
After traveling for a while, we finally arrived at the place that Puffer and the other researchers had pointed out. However, when we arrived, it didn't seem like anything was about to happen.
It seemed like there wasn't a single trace of corruption energy in the air with how spotless this place was.
As such, everyone couldn't help looking at Puffer and the other researchers with looks of doubt.
Puffer and the other researchers also recognized that there was a problem, so they wanted to go down and check that part of the array. But before they could, I raised my hand to stop them.
"There's no need for you to check anything, it's coming." I said in a calm voice.
It wasn't just Puffer and the researchers that revealed a confused look when they heard this.
The others all looked at me with confused looks as if they had no idea what I was talking about, but I didn't pay them any attention as I was focused on the ground where the core of the array should have been.
As for the reason why I wasn't worried, it was because there were far more signs than just what the eyes could see.
From the divine energy that was inside of me, I could feel the resonance that it gave off when it felt something related to the corruption energy. At this moment, I was feeling that there was something that was coming from deep under the ground.
Whatever it was, there was a lot of it and it was moving fast.
At the same time, it was moving towards the place that we thought that part of the array was.
As for what it was exactly, I naturally had no idea at all.
Well, other than the fact that it was most likely a mass of corruption energy.
"Should we clear out the area and set up for a siege?"
"Should we spread out just in case?"
"Should we land and see if we can find anything?"
There were a few suggestions that came out when they saw that I didn't do anything at all, but I didn't respond to any of them as I continued staring at that one spot on the ground while waiting for something to happen.
When it seemed like everyone was about to lose patience, that was when the corruption energy suddenly appeared.
When it did, I said, "Fire the flame breaths!"
Everyone was caught off guard when they heard this since they hadn't prepared anything.
In the end, it was Joan who fired her flame breath first at the corruption energy that was coming out of the ground.
After that, the rest of the wyverns started releasing flame breaths as well that were buffed by holy magic.
These flames fell onto the place where the corruption energy was coming out of the ground, but it didn't seem like it was able to do anything to it. The corruption energy that came out of the ground seemed to form some kind of barrier that pushed back the flames that fell on it.
At the same time, that corruption energy seemed to collapse in on itself as if it was gathering into a single point in that space. It was as if it was all gathering to do something.
