Chapter 1645: Sudden change (4)

We couldn't find anything in our first glance, so we couldn't find anything from our second glance onwards.

There were just too many scattered people around the Mofu Mofu Kingdom that the rate of illness was just too scattered as well.

That was just how it was for any kingdom.

The different settlements of a kingdom were based on where resources were available, so it wasn't as if there was anything uniform about them.

As for the array, we had no idea what it looked like in the first place, so there was no telling where the parts of it would be either.

As such, there really wasn't any information that we could obtain from just looking at the reports and the maps like this.

It really felt hopeless until the first reports came back.

"Bring it over and mark their positions on the map." The right minister took charge as soon as the reports came in.

Though I could see that he snuck a peek at the report.

Or it was better to say that he snuck a peek at a certain part of the report when they came in. It was clear that there was something about the reports that bothered him, which made him pay special attention to them.

It was the number of casualties that were marked on it.

The casualties were low for what they were since most of the arrays were in the middle of nowhere. The illness that the people suffered in those arrays was just from the corruption energy drifting to them in the air.

So when the array erupted in those places, it didn't actually cause much harm to them.

There were just a few people that were lost to the corruption energy for various reasons.

There were hunters that had been out in the middle of the forest when the array erupted. There was one farmer that was caught because the array was in the middle of his field.

But there was also one person that was caught because he went to investigate what happened.

"I already told you to make sure that all of them know not to approach the corruption energy." The right minister scolded the people that came with the report when he read about this one person.

"We know, but he went before we could reach them. We've made sure that they know not to approach and have already begun evacuating the people. It's just that we don't exactly know where to evacuate them right now."

"Just do what you can and make sure that none of them approach the corruption energy." The right minister said with a sigh in the end.

I could see that the pressure was getting to him because he felt responsible for everything that had happened.

But I didn't get to say anything to him as King Kashou stopped me.

He didn't say anything, he just looked at me with a strange look and shook his head to advise me not to approach the right minister.

After the different array locations had been marked on the map, we started having an idea of what the array was.

"Isn't this the same array as the smaller arrays that we found?" I couldn't help asking in a confused voice when I saw this before looking at Puffer.

She was the one that had been studying those arrays the entire time, so she was better at recognizing them than I was.

She didn't say anything at first after I asked this, but eventually she nodded to show that this was the case.

But if that was the case, what was the point of this large array then?

In the case of the smaller arrays that made up the outer circle, they seemed to gather corruption energy and then release it in one go…

"Could it be that they want to flood the entire Mofu Mofu Kingdom in corruption energy?" I couldn't help muttering as I thought about this situation to myself.

When King Kashou and the ministers heard this, there were grim looks that appeared on their faces before King Kashou said, "Then what do we do about this?"

I didn't answer right away as I continued looking at the map.

After a while, I said, "It doesn't seem to make sense since there's nothing to gain from that. Even if they fill the Mofu Mofu Kingdom with corruption energy, it isn't as if we don't have a way to deal with it. If they do something like this, it means that we'll move everyone from the racial alliance to deal with it. So this can't be all that they're planning."

King Kashou and the ministers seemed a bit unhappy about the way that I said this, but I could also see that they were convinced by my words.

Just this alone really wasn't as if it would be worth it.

They understood that there were further implications to all of this, which was why they remained silent and waited to see what else could be discovered.

After thinking about it, I asked, "When you studied the arrays, did you find how they gathered the corruption energy?"

Puffer and the other researchers looked a bit confused when they heard me ask this, but I just waited for an answer from them.

After a while, they slowly said, "Well, it seems to gather the corruption energy in one point in the array and then release it all at once."

"Where?" I asked right away before suddenly thinking of something and pointing at the map to say, "Mark it off on the array on the map."

They were still confused by why I was asking this, but they still did it.

When this was marked off, I just looked at that one point on the map without saying anything.

While everyone was looking at me with a strange look, I said, "Gather everyone that can deal with the corruption energy together. We need to head to that point right away!"
