Chapter 13: Chapter 14: The Gloomy and Quiet Man
Since they admitted it, everything became simple.
With clear video evidence, there was no longer anything to explain—everything was already recorded.
"So, you admit that you really called the Class D students 'defective goods'?"
"Looks like I can't help you now."
"You've truly disgraced our class."
Initially, they thought this was just their class president looking for trouble. But now, it seemed like there was an interesting newcomer in the first-year batch.
In no time, Nagumo Miyabi had understood the situation.
"In that case, I'll leave this matter to the president to handle."
"I have other matters to attend to."
Nagumo wasted no time and directly handed his classmates over to Horikita Manabu.
"You've all heard it. Since you've admitted to it, you should apologize sincerely."
"I'll arrange a meeting with the Class D students. Apologize properly, and maybe this matter will be resolved."
"However, if the story spreads, you might have to apologize to their entire class. Additionally, you could face an official reprimand."
Horikita Manabu didn't care about the resentful expressions of the three second-year students. He simply made his decision clear.
"... Alright, we understand."
Their faces turned sour, but they still agreed.
In this situation, they had no choice. Without Nagumo's support, openly opposing the student council president would only bring trouble.
Now, they just wanted to find out who was behind this. They wouldn't let that person off easily.
The sun slowly rose, marking the second day of school.
Rey woke up early, got ready, and put on his school uniform: a white shirt and a maroon blazer.
The shirt and blazer were fairly comfortable—the blazer even had gold accents and two gold buttons. The design was elegant and felt nice to wear.
But whoever decided the uniform pants should be green was absolutely out of their mind. Dark green pants? They might as well have given everyone green hats while they were at it.
The girls' uniforms, with their white pleated skirts, looked stylish and cute. But for the boys? A disaster. The school's uniform designer definitely owed everyone an apology—probably an old pervert behind the idea.
Dressed neatly and holding the hand gripper he had bought the previous day, Rey left his dorm with a bright face, ready to embrace school life.
"Good morning, Rey-kun!"
As soon as he entered the classroom, Rey was greeted by Kushida Kikyou, who stopped her chat with her new friends to smile warmly at him.
Her gaze seemed filled with anticipation, though perhaps it was just Rey's imagination.
Unfortunately, Rey didn't respond to that expectation.
"Good morning, Hanada-san," Rey replied casually, leaving behind a half-hearted greeting before heading to his seat.
"That's so rude."
"That had to be intentional."
"How could he not remember your name? Not many people even talk to him."
The girl sitting next to Kushida glared at Rey as she spoke.
Rey heard the comment but didn't care.
"Rey-kun, I've already told you, my name is Kushida Kikyou," Kushida said with a gentle smile, trying to remind him.
"Why is it so hard to remember?"
"Alright, Kushida-san. I'll definitely remember next time."
Rey himself didn't know how many times he had said, "I'll remember next time."
Usually, calling people by the wrong name a few times was enough to make them stay away from him.
But this girl—she was persistent.
A crafty little vixen.
"You're always like this," Kushida said with a helpless tone.
"I'm sure he's doing this to get your attention," one of Kushida's friends said.
"Exactly, Kikyou, don't fall for it!"
"Rey is totally a reserved guy with shady vibes."
"He looks neat and handsome, sure, but he's bad at talking. Plus, he's so gloomy and overly confident."
Kushida's friends surrounded her, speaking loudly enough for Rey to hear while continuing to belittle him.
"Is he really like that? Calling him reserved and gloomy… that's just too harsh," Kushida murmured, occasionally glancing shyly at Rey.
Is he really trying to get my attention?
"Kikyou, you're too kind!"
"Stay away from him, seriously!"
"He's a gloomy creep!"
The group continued their banter, laughing and joking, while Kushida just smiled faintly.
Meanwhile, most of the students in class had formed small groups, chatting happily.
Even Yamauchi Haruki from the previous day had found his buddies—a group of awkward but like-minded boys.
Only a few students, like Rey, sat alone at their desks.
However, Rey didn't mind. He already understood the rules of this school and knew that this peaceful atmosphere wouldn't last.
Soon, someone would shatter the illusion of camaraderie, and their fragile bonds would crumble.
Since it was the first day of class, the teachers mostly explained the school's policies and study guidelines. The rules were so lax that it didn't feel like an elite school but rather a casual, unremarkable one.
The staff's overly friendly attitude made the place feel less like a prestigious institution and more like a second-rate school.
Is this really an elite school? Feels more like a dump.
