Chapter 12: Chapter 13: Benefits of the Student Council, Nagumo Miyabi
Benefits?
Straight to the point, Rey directly asked about the benefits.
Students like Rey were rare here. Normally, even if they had such thoughts, they would hide them and subtly exploit their position after joining the Student Council. But for Rey, the benefits were the first thing to address.
Seeing how serious Rey was, Horikita Manabu spoke without hesitation.
"Alright, if you join the Student Council, each member receives a certain number of points based on their contributions. If you join, I'll arrange for you to receive ten thousand points per month. Additionally, if you perform well, there are special rewards."
"Of course, benefits come with responsibilities. You'll need to handle disputes between students, plan club activities, and implement school policies. These are duties you would have to undertake."
It was a subtle warning as well.
"Ten thousand points are for regular members. If you secure a specific position, such as President or Vice President, the amount increases."
"However, that all depends on your abilities."
Rey listened to this explanation and began to grow interested—gaining points and wielding authority.
In his mind, Rey was already analyzing:
"Is this meant to cultivate diverse talents among students? To foster skills in various fields?"
"Points as a lure—interesting."
Though intrigued, Rey did not provide an immediate answer.
"You can think it over carefully. Let me know your decision the next time we meet," Horikita Manabu said, not pressing for a commitment.
There was no urgency for a decision.
Rey, with his unique perspective and his placement in Class D, had already captured Horikita Manabu's attention.
If Rey declined, so be it. Such matters couldn't be forced.
"Alright then, see you later, President—and you too, beautiful senpai," Rey said with a smile before leaving the room.
"This underclassman has a lot of ideas, doesn't he," murmured a purple-haired female senior standing nearby.
"Is he really from Class D?"
"How could someone like him end up in Class D?"
"Is this some kind of system error?"
The senior stepped closer to Horikita Manabu, curious.
They had no objection to Horikita Manabu's invitation for Rey to join the Student Council. Gaining a capable new member would obviously be an advantage for them.
However, Rey's status piqued their curiosity. With his observational skills and eloquence, he could easily belong in Class A or B without issue.
"It's not a system error."
"He may be a Class D student, but that doesn't mean he lacks ability."
"It's a gathering of misfits, after all."
"But some of those misfits are incredibly talented."
Horikita Manabu had already accessed Rey's profile.
Name: Rey vessalius
Class: Class D, First Year
Student ID: S01T004648
Academic Ability: A
Intelligence: A
Judgment Ability: A
Physical Ability: A
Teamwork Ability: D
Exam Scores: 100, 100…
This information was drawn from his written exams and physical tests, where Rey had achieved perfect scores. Even in physical fitness, his level surpassed that of most middle school students.
However, Rey's interview and personal history prior to entering the school were not recorded.
At least, not in the data accessible to Horikita Manabu.
"As I suspected, Rey excels academically and in other abilities. Despite his low teamwork score, if that's the only drawback, he should undoubtedly be in Class A or B."
"Perhaps something happened during his middle school years that led to his recommendation to this school."
Horikita Manabu became more certain of the intriguing figure Rey presented.
"Tachibana, arrange a meeting with some of the second-year students involved."
Horikita Manabu wasted no time. There was still much to do.
"I'll get on it right away, President," replied Tachibana, his secretary, moving quickly to carry out her task.
Horikita Manabu was left alone in the Student Council room.
He thought about his foolish younger sister.
He felt she would face significant challenges ahead.
Being in the same class as someone like Rey was a dangerous prospect.
Meanwhile, Rey was unaware that Horikita Manabu was still pondering over him.
Rey decided to head to the cafeteria, where he found free meal packages available. He chose a very basic dish consisting of vegetables and a light broth. It seemed like a diet meal since it was almost tasteless.
After eating, Rey wandered around the campus, purchased some sports equipment, and returned to the dorm to rest.
Having gained some insight into the school's system, he now felt at ease enough to indulge in simple pleasures and sleep soundly.
However, back at the Student Council, the atmosphere was quite different.
"What did you say?"
"Who's the punk talking like that?"
"I mean, we didn't say anything that extreme."
The second-year students who had previously clashed with Rey were visibly irritated.
They never expected to be summoned to the Student Council office over this matter.
Even the Second-Year Vice President, Nagumo Miyabi, made an appearance.
Nagumo Miyabi was the leader of the second-year Class A, and one of the most influential students in his year. With his strikingly handsome appearance, short blonde hair, and warm smile, he exuded an approachable charm.
Despite their efforts to explain, the three second-year students found it futile to argue against the recorded evidence. In the end, they had no choice but to admit their prior remarks
