Chapter 11: Chapter 12: Exaggerating the Issue, Student Council Invitation
Though no direct answer was given, it was enough for Rey to start piecing together the truth.
Rey continued with another question.
"If there's no reward, what about those two seniors? Will their class be punished? Will they face personal consequences?"
"I want them to apologize. Insulting an entire class of students is excessive. They didn't even know us, yet they called us defective products. They should apologize, and I think they should compensate us in points."
"Beyond that, there's the defamation law, right? If the school allows this, then starting tomorrow, I'll go to their class and shout at them. That's not a problem, right?"
Rey wasn't worried about the consequences. He felt that if he got punished for criticizing the second-year student earlier, it wouldn't be a big deal.
He didn't expect a serious punishment; after all, the second-year student hadn't been punished yet.
A series of questions made the cute secretary nearby feel a little tense. She nervously glanced at Horikita Manabu.
"It's certainly not acceptable to insult others. Since you've raised this issue, I'll follow up with those students. If they acknowledge their actions, they will apologize. As for compensating with points, that's uncertain."
"They didn't explicitly target you, you understand what I mean, right?"
Horikita Manabu tried to explain.
"I understand."
"That's very unfortunate."
So insulting others wasn't a big deal. The consequences were just an apology and a deduction of class points, but Rey didn't care about that.
He didn't even care much about his own class points.
"If there are no objections, I will proceed. Once we confirm what happened, if they don't object, they will apologize to you. If your classmates from Class D also need an apology, I'll arrange for them to do so," Horikita Manabu said in a fair tone.
This, of course, assumed the second-year students wouldn't deny the claims. If they denied it, there would be a public confrontation.
"No objections. Make sure they apologize sincerely, and let them know I'm the one who reported them," Rey responded directly.
Horikita Manabu wanted to ask Rey, "Aren't you afraid of retaliation?"
But he didn't press further.
"For your classmate..." Horikita Manabu started speaking.
According to the school's policy, punishment didn't need to be announced.
"As for the red-haired student, if you want a public notification, we'll issue it. If not, I won't bother."
Rey had lost interest in the red-haired student.
"That's unfortunate," Rey said.
"Alright, as a token of gratitude for your report, I'll give you a personal reward of 10,000 points. As for the public notification, we won't be issuing it."
Horikita Manabu downplayed the matter. He wasn't interested in making internal school issues public.
Rey accepted the points without hesitation.
"Thank you, President," Rey said, not refusing the reward.
"It's no problem. No more questions. Thanks for your guidance."
"If there's a chance, I'll come again."
Since the goal had been achieved, Rey prepared to leave.
It was already late; time for dinner.
"Leave your contact information, and we'll get in touch with you for the results."
"Secretary, write down his contact number."
Horikita Manabu ordered his cute secretary to note Rey's number.
"Okay, I'll wait for a message from the president," Rey said, leaving his contact information and waving goodbye.
Before leaving, Horikita Manabu asked,
"By the way, are you interested in joining the student council?"
"Student council? What's in it for me?"
Rey wasn't particularly interested, but if there were benefits—such as power or influence—he would be more interested in hearing about it.
