Reverend Insanity: Eternal Demon's Path

Chapter 10: Chapter 2343 – Fragments (1)

Within the barren lands of Northern Plains, an ancient battlefield slumbered beneath layers of dust and shattered history. Thunder rumbled across the sky as golden light descended, illuminating the fractured bones of Gu Immortals, charred remnants of soul path formations, and scattered fragments of Immortal Gu that had long lost their essence.

A deep tremor rippled through the ruins. Beneath a collapsed ridge, a stone altar cracked open as golden blood gushed out.

The viscous liquid shimmered with strange vitality. It pooled unnaturally, resisting absorption into the soil, as if seeking purpose. A moment later, the blood ignited, releasing threads of crimson-gold mist that rose like serpents toward the heavens.

Giant Sun Immortal Venerable appeared silently above the scene. He watched the phenomenon with no joy in his expression.

"Blood Covenant… this is not a path of certainty."

He raised his palm, revealing a Gu worm the size of a baby's fist. It had no wings, no limbs, only pulsating flesh covered in golden runes. Its aura was ancient, erratic, and infused with both luck and blood path dao marks.

With a flick of his sleeve, Giant Sun launched the Gu worm into the mist.

The surrounding air twisted. Screams that were not screams echoed briefly as countless crimson threads rose from the battlefield, intertwining with the Gu worm.

A voice murmured in the depths of fate's corpse: "I accept."

Giant Sun narrowed his eyes.

"It's begun. Whether you remember our bargain or not, you have no choice now."

This was a contract made in the Era of Turbulence, with a being that had once reached the peak of blood path and fell into eternal slumber. It was not loyalty Giant Sun had gained, only obligation. A mutual usage. But even such a bargain had immense value now.

Giant Sun's figure flickered and vanished.

...

Elsewhere, far beneath the surface of a forgotten grotto-heaven, the sealed puppet stirred.

Black miasma rose from its joints as the soul fragment of Spectral Soul dissolved fully into its structure. The process was crude. The puppet's body was not designed for full possession, but desperation was a powerful motivator.

Clack.

The head turned. Crimson light glowed faintly in its artificial pupils.

"I feel it… again. Primordial Origin's vestige."

The puppet raised its hand. It clenched slowly, painfully, but with purpose.

"My other fragments are lost, devoured, or sealed… but this one still walks."

A ripple of will passed through the underground sanctum. Sealed soul slaves awakened from their long dormancy. Constructs left behind by the old members' plan began to twitch.

"This time… I won't aim for Heaven. I will crush everything you left behind, Star Constellation."

...

Within the southern valley, covered in layers of dream sand, Red Lotus's clone sat still among countless drifting lotuses that were burning with reverie. Flames encircled Red Lotus' body, yet they did not burn; they "remembered."

He held a piece of dream realm in his left hand. It showed the faint outline of a boy kneeling before a lotus pond, screaming in silence. Red Lotus watched without emotion.

"So much time has passed… and yet, I'm still bound by your shadow, Master."

He crushed the dream shard. Ash fell through his fingers. A moment later, a star shot across the sky.

Red Lotus' clone mumbled softly:

"That was Star Constellation's clone. She has initiated Plan Xuan Yuan. Then... she has chosen to confront reality."

He closed his eyes. Flames surged around his body, morphing into a lotus-shaped projection. Within its center, a vague aura pulsed — neither dream nor fire, but the convergence of both.

"She will not be able to control the outcome. We have to stop her from reviving Primordial Origin at all costs."

He slowly stood up as several lotus insects rushed out from his sleeves.

"I must reach the next node before Fang Yuan does. If he obtains the remaining fragments of Memory Eclipse… he will become the pivot of this era."

...

Within Heavenly Court, Star Constellation sat cross-legged above the sealed vault. A dozen starlight formations floated around her like rings of orbiting moons.

Her expression was cold. She no longer needed to speak her thoughts aloud. Her divine will had extended throughout Heavenly Court, coordinating ancient sects, activating secluded formations, and watching the movements of both ally and enemy alike. Even so, her true body remained still.

The pressure she felt now was greater than when facing the three Demon Venerables combined.

"Blood Covenant has awakened. Spectral Soul's remaining will has responded. And Red Lotus's clone has begun to act independently."

Her thoughts spun rapidly. "And Fang Yuan…"

She turned her gaze toward the western sky. "He is going for the next fragment."

...

In a broken tributary of Reverse Flow River, Fang Yuan walked along the curved riverbed. His body was surrounded by illusory phantoms, some of which resembled his past selves.

He walked calmly as he observed the illusions. A child version of him cried beside a corpse, but the corpse was himself from the future. He ignored it.

Memory Eclipse Gu resonated faintly within his aperture. He could feel it. The next piece was close. But suddenly, he paused.

A crimson thread slithered across the edge of the river, glowing faintly. A faint blood path aura leaked.

His eyes narrowed. "This is Giant Sun's work?"

He traced it back to a distant mountain range veiled by gold mist. At the same time, the dream realm began to ripple.

A fire lotus bloomed silently on the horizon. Fang Yuan's expression turned serious. "Red Lotus has arrived too."

He looked to the heavens.

"And Star Constellation... is watching."

He stepped forward as his robe began emitting crimson-red flames.

...

At this moment, within the depths of the vault, a tiny crack formed on the blood embryo's surface. It was not due to damage; it was a result of choice.

The embryo pulsed faintly. The eye behind the flesh opened once more.

And then it blinked several times, emitting an aura that seemed to see through the broken shards of history.

[See you guys next week:) ]
