Reincarnated into a Doomed Novel as an Unknown Extra

Chapter 90: The Test's End

"She is either so lucky… or the person who summons the monster is going easy on her."

"Who cares. It's about performance anyway. It's causing more harm to her."

Murmuring erupted around me after Selene killed her second opponent… which was a rat.

'I wonder if that favouritism could also give her a higher ranking…'

I shook my head and put that thought in the back of my mind. Kyle couldn't help her against a student anyway.

Finally, her opponent entered the arena.

She was Alexia, the red mermaid I met on the ship. She entered the arena riding a small wave of water. That was supposed to be her last fight after she lost against a student.

A few moments later, the fight started.

We all closed our ears as Alexia opened her mouth.

"AAAAHHHHH—!"

All of a sudden, the sound was cut off.

"...."

"They cut it off faster this time."

"Yeah, her sound affinity is really problematic."

In an instant, Selene surrounded herself with a barrier of pure mana and pointed with her finger at Alexia as if she was holding a gun.

The mana barrier was vibrating and shattering gradually, then from the tip of Selene's finger, she shot a silvery-white ray toward Alexia.

Alexia stopped screaming and created a wall of water. Once the silvery-white ray touched it, the entire wall turned into ice.

Alexia was caught off guard by the sudden change, but before she could cast another spell, a silver great sword phased through the wall heading toward her.

"Ho—"

Before it could cut her in half, Alexia was teleported to the preparation room gasping for breath as the great sword pierced the wall of the arena.

Suddenly, the sword flew back and fell gracefully into Selene's hand.

Her performance was fast and overwhelming, leaving no chance for Alexia to fight back.

'I wonder if her sword can phase through everything or only ice.'

After drinking the given potions and resting for some time, her next opponent entered the arena.

He was a brown-haired, topless, muscled man, holding a great axe that was scratching the ground as he moved.

Once the fight started, he leaped at her, his axe rising in the sky with orange flames dancing around it.

Then he swung it down.

*BAM!*

Selene didn't use her sword. She caught the edge of the axe with her bare enhanced hand.

"What!" The axe holder opened his mouth in pure disbelief.

He tried to leave the axe, but then he noticed silvery-white ice spreading from Selene's hand and freezing his hand with the axe's grip.

Selene dismissed her sword and turned her free hand into a fist, then with explosive force, she punched him in the stomach. Her hand pierced his guts and threw him with the axe flying away.

Before he hit the wall, he was teleported to the preparation room as the tiger man rushed toward him with a healing potion in his hand.

"Holy shit! Did she just penetrate him with her bare hand?" Limitless screamed in shock while pulling his hair.

Selene suddenly got teleported to the room as well, looking at her own hand which was covered in blood.

"...."

She appeared more shocked than we were, with tears threatening to flow out of her eyes.

"Did… did I exaggerate?" She asked herself in a low tone.

Instantly, I teleported to her and patted her head.

"You didn't! That was actually a great fight!" I said, moving her head away from the man with a hole in his stomach. "You followed the rules, and he lost according to the rules. It's not your fault if he didn't give up!"

'And I did even worse! Screw you, Kyle! You spoiled her too much!'

I hated to admit it, but the government was right, she needed to see more blood.

Well, as her friend, it was my duty to help her grow, right? I was planning to enter a dungeon with her later.

I took a piece of clothing from my storage and crouched slightly to wipe the blood in her hand and face.

Damn, she was really too short for a dragon girl. And her power could be compared to Zephyr!

"I… think you are right… thank you." A smile finally spread across her features. "It was just a spar, he—!"

*BAM!*

Suddenly, we heard something hitting a wall brutally.

"Huh? Where am I?" Zephyr, who appeared suddenly and crushed the wall, scanned his surroundings in confusion.

His eyes landed on us, then he shouted: "How did I return here?! I didn't finish my training—!"

He suddenly stopped moving as he narrowed dangerously, then his expression turned into embarrassment.

"Oh… I forgot. Thank you, ma'am!"

He rushed toward the arena immediately without explaining anything to us.

"How did he come here…?" Someone asked, but no one answered him.

When I looked at the screen, I finally understood what happened.

I explained: "It's his turn. He had left without completing his fights earlier. The principal probably brought him back."

In the arena, a monster materialized before Zephyr and swung its blade, but unlike my fight, Zephyr dodged it by melting into darkness.

"Wait, she looks too familiar." Liora as she looked at the monster with bright eyes.

The monster was a humanoid girl with long green hair and a pair of bright green eyes. She was wearing armor and held a sword covered in green flames.

She was the boss of the fourth challenge that Yami fought, the duchess.

"I don't have time for that." Zephyr looked irritated as he charged toward her.

She attacked him with flying green swords, but even the corruption couldn't do anything against Zephyr's scythe.

"You call this corruption?" Zephyr smirked. "It's nothing compared to what I have to deal with everyday!"

The fake duchess tried to fly away by turning into a mist, but Zephyr caught her leg before it could transform completely.

With explosive force, he slammed her into the ground, stopping her transformation.

The next moment, he raised his leg and stomped her face ignoring the green flame that tried to burn him.

*BOOM!*

Then again.

*BOOM!*

And again!

*BOOM!*

Seeing that scene, I couldn't help but recall one of our fights.

'Is that PTSD? I hope not.'

Finally, the fake duchess died after her core got shattered, leaving a mess of blood and brain matter instead of her head.

Zephyr suddenly shouted: "Send the next now! I really have to go, so no need to even send potions."

As if responding to his wish, an armored brown Lizard charged at him out of nowhere. Zephyr didn't hold back as he swung his scythe and sent an eclipse slash at the lizard.

*SLASH!*

Our mouths opened wide as the slash cut though the lizard vertically, severing it in half.

"He… finished the fight with only one attack."

That wasn't like Selene's fight. That lizard seemed to be a strong defensive monster!

"Next next next!" Zephyr shouted again, but this time, he had to wait.

"It's… my turn…" The axe man that fought Selene earlier muttered, seeing his face on the screen.

"He just used his strongest attack and didn't even rest. You can do it!" Limitless encouraged him, and it seemed to work.

With a firm face, the man took another axe and went to face Zephyr.

In the arena, Zephyr waited for him with irritation and said: "Took you long enough."

The man with the axe didn't even flinch. He looked at Zephyr in the eyes directly.

Once the fight started, he leaped at Zephyr, his axe rising in the sky with orange flames dancing around it.

"Tsk, too slow." Zephyr suddenly dodged the axe, then he swung his scythe, cutting the man's arm in the middle of the air before kicking his stomach.

His leg pierced the poor man's stomach, sending him flying away before getting teleported to the preparation room again.

"...."

Everyone looked at him with wide eyes, before looking at Arthur whose face turned red instantly.

"Cough… I was just lucky…"

Their eyes held a mix of awe and respect for defeating such a monster, even though it was technically his plot armor that won.

Just like that, the last fight in the combat test was finished.

'Yeah, he will definitely get the second or third rank.'

Standing alone in the middle of the arena, Zephyr scratched his head.

"Umm… can you send me back now…? I paid half my EC for that training room…"
