Chapter 84: Combat Test [2]
Galactic Cosmic Rays and Solar Cosmic Rays.
Though they are called rays, it would be more accurate to call them Cosmic Radiation due to their nature.
Cosmic radiation always existed in space, causing troubles to the astronauts in my past life, but due to its low intensity, it wasn't a big problem most of the time.
But what if there was a magical world where people with space affinity could create Galactic Cosmic Radiation?
What if I had the ability to keep making invisible cosmic radiation and send it to my enemies without them noticing?
Well, the result was in front of me.
•••
"When did you… how?!"
Long Lei wiped his bleeding nose, probably shocked by the lack of feeling and thinking that it was poison.
I didn't answer him and flew a little away.
It was free to see information about most of the affinities at any time. But due to how rare the space affinity was — and because no one likes studying — not all people cared about memorizing its abilities.
Just like how metal affinity had the power of all metals, and eclipse affinity included the power of darkness and decay, space was also the same!
If Long Lei knew about this, he wouldn't have let me take my time radiating the entire arena.
*Crackle!*
The purple lightning started dancing around Long Lei. He dismissed his barrier and gathered all the lightning on his spirit.
His spirit started growing in size until it turned into a huge lightning serpent.
"We can't lose any more time. Finish him!
"ROAAAAR"
He commanded the serpent as it flew toward me with rapid speed. I teleported away instantly, but the serpent changed its direction and followed me.
"Oh… this may be a problem." I sighed in disappointment as I raised my right hand in the serpent direction. "I'll need to be a little serious."
Suddenly, the embedded crystal on my glove began to glow reddish-black as a shield with the same color materialized.
*BOOM!*
The serpent crashed in the barrier. I could feel the force behind the attack, but I stood still in the air without flinching.
The serpent kept getting smaller with each passing second. Long Lei's eyes widened in disbelief as he saw his attack getting devoured.
The entire attack finally got devoured. When the spirit tried to run, I caught it immediately in the middle of the air.
It tried to shock me, but its current lightning was too weak against my lightning resistance.
Feeling my aether returning and my mask devouring their fear, I mocked again: "Ohhh, how kind of you to share your mana with me."
I dismissed the shield instantly and the crystal returned to its former color.
That was the third ability of Night Terror.
After breaking through, Night Terror improved significantly. The fear effect became stronger, the fear devouring could now strengthen me and restore my mental power, and the outfit itself became more durable.
But the best part was the third ability.
I had 2 marks in my hand which would turn into crystals whenever I covered my hands.
Each one of them could store a single spell from the same Tier as me if they were connected to them for enough time. After storing the spells, I could use them anytime even without having their affinity.
So who did I take that shield from?
Of course, it was Zephyr! I took from him an eclipse arrow spell and eclipse shield. That way, I got an arrow that can pierce any magical barrier and a barrier that can block most magical attacks.
Seriously, how did Arthur win against that monster? It was really unbelievable.
"I give up!" Long Lei shouted. "Just leave little Lina and take the win."
"...."
I tilted my head and glared at him silently for a long moment, then opened my mouth: "Why would I?"
"...."
He opened his mouth and tried to say something, but I cut him off.
"The point of this fight is to show our skills not to win. They will make sure that none of us will die, then why would I accept your surrender? I still didn't show everything!"
Additionally, I finally had a real chance to fight someone that wasn't a fucking tank that could devour all my attacks!
I was having fun fighting for the first time in years! Why would I stop now?
"Hehehe." A small laugh left my mouth unconsciously, then I returned to casting the radiation spell.
Long Lei's skin began to redden suddenly. Feeling the threat, he leaped toward me again, trying to take the serpent from me, but he was much slower now.
As seconds passed, his condition only became worse.
His skin was completely red and his veins were glowing. He started bleeding from his eyes, ears, and nose while vomiting blood from his mouth.
"I… cough… give up… please…"
He collapsed on the ground, unable to move anymore due to the radiation.
Feeling bored, I clicked my tongue.
"Tsk, I expected more than that. Fine, I accept it."
The moment I finished talking, a figure appeared out of nowhere and took Long Lei away.
"Hmm?" The serpent suddenly disappeared from my hand as well.
'Damn! I didn't feel anything as if it teleported. Was that the principal's doing?
*BAM!*
I returned to the ground as colorful ribbons came out of the ground announcing my win. Then a big screen materialized in the middle of the arena.
I ignored it for now and looked at the viewing seats. Ignoring the people who looked at me with disgust or fear, My eyes landed on a familiar face.
'Found you!'
On a seat slightly far from Kyle Lunaris, a beautiful human woman with a principal's suit sat elegantly.
Her long pitch black hair seemed to have real stars shining brightly on it, and her black eyes seemed to reflect the space itself.
I saw her picture once in my bracelet. She was Lunara Solen, the Exalted Academy's principal.
Her mouth was moving non stop, probably talking about my performance. I couldn't hear what people were saying outside the arena, but they could hear me.
'Yep, she probably teleported that serpent… wait, isn't that Yami?!'
There was a black snake wrapped around Lunara's neck. What made me suspect that it was Yami was the blackish-blue irises it had.
Of course it was him! There was probably no place in this world safer than the principal's neck!
'Hmm… I wonder how he got that new transformation.'
—Hehe, did you recognise him already?
My eyes widened as I heard a sudden voice beside my ear. I looked around but saw nothing.
Far away, Lunara suddenly waved at me.
'Did she teleport her voice?!'
*DING!*
Suddenly, the screen in the middle of the arena showed the word "Monster" as my next test.
'Damn… I don't have time to think about that. And I hoped to fight another student first! Tsk.'
Suddenly, out of nowhere, 2 potions appeared before me. One was blue and the other orange.
'Oh right, I almost forgot about those. They can't make me fight while I'm exhausted after all.'
I drank the potions immediately, then my mental power and aether returned to their peak condition as if I had never fought.
I envied the alchemists who could make these potions. I could do that too if I tried, but it would need much time and effort to learn. Unfortunately, I had to focus on increasing my power instead.
*Crack!*
I threw the empty bottles away and focused on the middle of the arena. For some reason, I had a bad feeling.
*Blink*
I blinked quickly, then I found a golden hammer covered in green flames getting close to my face as my danger sense activated aggressively.
'Huh?'
For some reason, it was so close and sudden. I didn't have time to teleport away!
'Fuc—!'
*BAM!*
