Reincarnated into a Doomed Novel as an Unknown Extra

Chapter 78: The Exalted Academy

[EC = 980]

"Yep, I have no regrets."

Seeing my EC, I nodded in satisfaction as I took a bite from a life bar.

'It really tastes like shit.'

It's been a week since I entered Elyndra and saw Zephyr's performance in the physical tests.

He surpassed all the last records in almost all tests. From power tests to endurance and even speed — his body and talent were just something else.

Well, I surpassed him in the reaction speed and accuracy tests at least. In the reaction speed, out of every 10 projectiles shot toward him, he was hit by 3.

And for me? None! They were too slow to pass through my senses.

I began to recall the rewards we got from the show.

Aria got aether seed and talent potion like me, but instead of runes skill book, she got one for alchemy. For her fourth reward, she got a soul-bound artifact, which was another rapier, encouraging her to turn into a dual wielder.

Celestia got an item that evolved her trait, aether seed, and a soul-bound scythe.

Selene refused to tell us her rewards — probably because of her father — other than her aether seed, but she hinted that her draconic blood became thicker.

Then the most shocking of them all, that son of bitch Zephyr! He got only 2 rewards, the first was the usual aether seed, but the second was a potion that gave him an overpowered lineage!

He had to drink that potion in my house, afraid that one of his family would know about it… and it was a wise choice. That was the first time I saw him screaming in pain since I met him.

Thankfully, that pain paid off when it turned him into a new race. According to him, it was called The Eclipseborn, which showed why he got that reward specifically.

After getting that lineage, ignoring his improved control over his affinity, his physique improved SIGNIFICANTLY.

He could easily match my power without enhancing his body. Which meant that he could still fight people with the same Tier as him while saving his aether.

I could only hope that my spirit would be enough to slightly close the gap between us.

'That really makes me wonder what Arthur has gotten.'

Anyway, I was now in the slum, lying on the ground in an old hotel room. There was no bed or even a chair to rest on, but just a ceiling was enough for me.

I had seen worse in my past life after all.

The reason I decided to rent this room was that it was cheap! I refused to sleep in an expensive hotel like Zephyr and Celestia. I had to save every EC if possible for emergencies.

The room Zephyr and Celestia rented was costing 200 EC for a week, and a simple meal was costing 5 EC. I wasn't stupid to pay for all that before having some good money.

I could still take EC from Aria, but I wasn't a scum to take her hard earned EC. If I ever borrowed from her, that would be in absolute necessity!

*Ding!*

Suddenly, a notification sound rang, and a hovering screen materialized out of my bracelet.

A smile tugged on my face as I read the message.

[Please follow the map to go to Exalted Academy. You have only one day.]

In an instant, I teleported outside the hotel without informing the manager and headed to the academy as I followed the map.

It was the time to start the academy's ranking exams.

•••

I reached a huge, luxurious, white mansion after running for an hour.

The special part about it was that all its workers were adults, not students — which highlighted its importance.

And again, after waiting in the line for a few minutes, the guards scanned me and my belongings.

Then one of them took me to a guarded hall with a small spatial gate in the middle.

"Once you enter, show the guards on the other side this card."

He gave me a blank white card that didn't seem special at all, but I nodded and didn't question him.

I entered the gate, and immediately, my vision changed into a wonderful sight.

I stood beside the gate, and on my back, there was what seemed to be a forest, but what captured my eyes was the scene ahead.

Far away, there was the entrance gate of a beautiful academy where all buildings were made from what seemed to be white marble.

On the right and left sides, there were multiple shops that sold various types of products like food, materials and even artifacts!

In the middle, there was a long passage with multiple paths brunched out of it. On the end of the path, there was a huge building that was larger than the ship!

I was now in Exalted Academy, and that building was probably the academy's main building and also the place where my ranking exams would be held.

"SHOW YOUR CARD!!"

Suddenly, I heard someone shouting at me as many spears and swords pointed at my neck.

I calmly raised my card, and after the guards scanned it, they burned it and let me pass.

'Phew… they are really serious about security in this place.'

I teleported immediately to the passage that led to the academy's main building and scanned the shops in my way.

"Healing and stamina potions! Highest quality with the lowest prices!"

"Come and try those volcanic snake eggs! Eat them in the summer to get fire resistance!"

"Looking for a good healer to help us finish a rank-B quest. You must be Tier 4."

"I'll never sleep in this inn again!"

The place was lively with students from various races chatting and exchanging items.

I went to check the prices but my face went pale instantly.

"500EC… for a small bunch of tier 1 arrows?! That's scam!"

The girl that was responsible for the shop looked at me with disdain. "I dare you to find someone selling similar fire arrows at a lower price. If you don't have money then leave!"

"Tsk." I clicked my tongue and teleported far away.

Those arrows were poorly made anyway. I'd be surprised if the tip of those arrows pierced a boar's skin.

Entering the main building, I stood in front of a desk with an elf woman with short brown hair and green eyes sitting before it. On the desk, the name "Luna" was written.

"Hey ma'am." The woman turned her head toward me as I continued: "I'm a new student. Where can I take the ranking tests?"

"Go that way. They will explain everything in that hall."

I nodded to her, ignoring the fact that her heart wasn't thumping, and moved to the hall.

*Clank*

I opened the hall's door gently, and many different gazes shifted toward me.

The hall looked like a college's lecture hall from my old world, with tiered seating arranged in ascending rows. Three long desks stood on each level, separated by two staircases that provided access to the student seats.

With just a brief glance, I guessed that it could handle 1000 students at least!

"Raylin Crimson, please take a seat and answer the questions we'll send to your bracelet."

A woman in a brown suit called me. I nodded to her and went to take a seat.

Of course, I sat on the one behind the window!

'I wouldn't dare to call myself an extra If I didn't sit behind a window.'

Zephyr wasn't here yet, despite that his hotel was closer than mine to the academy. He was probably too lazy to go early like me.

My bracelet suddenly glowed brightly and a screen materialized before me.

I began to read, and understood immediately why I got those questions early.
