Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World

Chapter 273: King Exalon

"King Exalon, I…" Alora started but stopped. What was the point of giving an explanation? Did she have to explain herself?

"So," The seven feet tall man who Alora referred to as King Exalon remained as still as a cosmic mountain with his arms still behind him.

Besides his silence and destructive aura, he also had the presence of a king, one who knew what he was doing.

"...You met the Primordial Lion?" King Exalon asked.

Alora nodded.

Exalon sighed, closing his eyes. He seemed to release all his frustration, anger, and excitement just from that sigh.

"...And he gave you the Heavenly Beacon? Why?" He asked.

"I presented him with value, one that Xu Ying was unwilling to offer," Alora answered.

"Hmm…" Exalon took in a deep breath, although no oxygen entered his lungs, just nothingness, "You realize that the Cross Claw Alliance won't be happy with this right?"

Alora shrugged her shoulders, getting more comfortable and calming her beating heart, "What they think doesn't matter, I got the heavenly beacon, that's what matters," She said.

"Ignorant, do you think you will regret your decision?" Exalon asked. His black eyes gleamed with wisdom that had only gotten from living for an extremely long time.

"Regret for gaining power?" Alora turned to look at King Exalon, a bit surprised, "Why would anyone regret gaining power? If such regret ever comes, I'll crush it, and I'll do away with it swiftly,"

"Good," King Exalon said, his eyes brimming with contained excitement.

The reason he talked to Alora with a tone of calmness was because she now possessed a heavenly beacon like him. They were not equal in power, but they were not too far off in status now.

He could be disrespectful if he wanted but he knew that Alora was no pushover.

"Tell me, what was he like?" He asked again.

A golden screen flashed in front of Alora at this time, showing a message she just received from Chloe.

Chloe: Alora.

This semi-transparent golden screen naturally caught the attention of Exalon who looked at it with interest.

At first, he thought it was just some kind of holographic magic screen generated by a rune on her body but upon closer look, he began to observe something…

Alora: I'm busy, talk later.

Alora imputed her message and waved the screen out of existence.

She turned to Exalon, noticing his calm and intrigued gaze.

"The Primordial Lion? Well, he's not what you would imagine, but he's also what you would imagine." Alora said.

"Really? How?" Exalon asked.

"Well, he's the way Primordial Lions were usually described. Golden fur, powerful for his tier, extremely bold, and capable of violence in different ways.

I couldn't read much into his personality as I didn't spend much time with him. But he seems to be naturally attuned to its ways and culture.

Dominant, regal, noble, determined, he seems to know what he is and what he wants," Alora said truthfully. She couldn't confidently claim that she knew anything about Kael at that moment.

The closest thing she was sure about Kael was that they shared somewhat similar ambitions and were both willing to go the extra mile to get what they wanted.

"So, he's not like Derylia?" Exalon asked.

Alora shook her head, "No, it appears not. I doubt he even values love and emotional fulfillment the way Derylia is described to value it,"

"I see, so he knows what he is and what he wants. Do you think he deserves the support of the lion race?"

Alora froze up, was it happening already? She thought Exalon would show some resistance. But thinking about it, Exalon was a War Lion at heart, he wouldn't go out of his way to make his life complicated if it didn't have to be.

It seemed War Lions would most likely be Kael's main supporters, she assumed.

Alora didn't answer Exalon immediately, she thought of the Lion System and whether to allow this king to access it. That was the only way she felt he could decide for himself.

But, she also didn't wish to help Kael at all. She was already indebted to him. She had completed one of his orders, not allowing anyone to cross back into his world.

Exalon had miscalculated the depth of the surface he wanted to put his paw in and accidentally caused some damage. He had retracted his paw due to surprise and not because he was forced back, if not Alora had no way of stopping him if he actually wanted to cross over at that time.

With that debt gone, she still owed Kael five obedience debts and one unconditional obedience debt.

Alora had her own plans and dreams she wanted to achieve for herself, Kael being the Primordial Lion could very well hinder her in the future if he grew stronger.

Knowing this, why should she help him gain more influence in heaven if it may just turn out bad for her later on?

But if she didn't show Exalon the things she was supposed to show him now, Xu Ying and the others would do it. And they might even use it as an opportunity to act against her.

Should she do it and help her potential competition? But if she did, she would be doing exactly what Kael predicted she would do.

If she didn't, she would lose power and support.

Thinking of the pool of Conquering Essence residing within her, waiting for an opportunity to be put to good use, Alora sighed.

"Why don't I show you what he offered us," Alora said. She willed her Lion System and sent a referral screen to Exalon beside her.

Exalon frowned at the golden screen that just appeared in front of his face. Veins bulged on his muscular neck and forehead as he instinctively went into a defensive state of mind.

"What is this?" King Exalon asked. This was the same golden screen that appeared in front of Alora some moments ago.

"The power of the Primordial Lion. Accept the request if you want to learn more about him," Alora said. She was starting to envy this power. Compared to her ice powers, the lion system seemed way more useful.

"The power of the Primordial Lion?" Exalon muttered. He was weary and would not accept anything just because it looked appealing.

"If you don't want to accept it now, you can take your time…" Alora began but was interrupted by a system notification that Exalon had accepted the request.

She was still young, not even half a century old. How could she understand the level of boredom Exalon experienced every year?

King Exalon was one of those lions eager for some change, something exciting, something different than the sorry excuse the lion civilization had fallen to.

Some of the lion Kings may not like change, but he wanted it. He felt like without the Primordial Lion, the lion civilization had lost its main purpose, its core drive.

All because of one ancestor's mistake.

As soon as Exalon accepted the referral request, his identity mark was added to the lion system.

*DOOM!*

"What?" He exclaimed.

Conquering Essence was flowing into his extra power pool. Without access to the Conquering Essence in the past, Exalon had maintained two pools of War Power.

This was how it had always been for all lion kings since the death of Noel. Most Lion Kings did not even know the benefits that came with having a Primordial Lion around.

Even Exalon did not know if such benefits, to him, having double power pools was the right way and a standard perk of being having a heavenly beacon.

But he was wrong.

He wished to stop the Conquering Essence from invading but his win Heavenly Beacon seemed to work against him, actively pushing his War Power out to make room for the Conquering Essence.

Even with all this happening to him, Exalon maintained his pose. His arms remained behind his back and his grey-furred tail remained still. The only thing that kept changing was his expression.

His muscles began to vibrate slightly due to War Power that was being forced out of his extra power pool.

Alora looked at Exalon, realizing what was happening. This was the same thing that happened to her too.

"Interesting," Exalon muttered, taking in steady breaths and suppressing the power within his bones and muscles.

While this was happening, golden screens began to arrange themselves in front of his face, exposing him to a whole new world.

Finally, Exalon could not maintain his stance anymore, his arms left his back and came to his side.

Alora smiled wryly, "This should tell you all you need to know,"

A wide smile appeared on Exalon's face, exposing his fangs to the world. His grey mustache added to his menacing smile.

"Yes," He said, "Indeed, this is good," His eyes moved rapidly, reading through the guide and his brain understood the concept of the lion system immediately.

He continued, "The Dragons, the Bees, the Horses, the Basilisks, and other civilizations have been blowing their trumpets for too long, we can finally catch up…"
