Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World

Chapter 271: Devastation

The massive lion paw was pulled back as the heavenly gate closed and disappeared into nothingness.

Four deep and long gashes had been made on the ground, a result of the titanic claws that had run through the earth.

Space twisted as Katari appeared again with a frown on her face. She observed her environment, looking at the devastation that had occurred just from that single paw slam.

The earth had been overturned, and multiple jagged rocks stuck out of the ground. The land had caved in at the point of impact, leaving a deep and wide crater shaped like the lion's paw.

The destruction was immense, spreading for multiple kilometers and even reaching the portal to the pocket dimension.

Luckily, the portal was still stable and none of the creatures standing guard died, although they had varying degrees of injuries.

Kael appeared at the edge of the portal, his eyes wide with vigilance. He had not felt the aura but he had sensed the portal tremble slightly from the shockwave and had hurried here to see what happened.

His golden eyes pierced the distance, sighting Katari's figure just beyond the horizon, standing amidst the rubble. He could see her head and a little bit of her shoulder even though she was currently extremely tiny in his vision.

The fact that he could even see her was incredible. All the trees in the area had been either uprooted and swept away or broken to the ground.

He ignored the groans of the wolf and fox guards close to him and teleported away. After a short series of teleportation that barely lasted more than seven seconds, Kael appeared next to Katari with a questioning look on his face.

His space power pool was almost empty but he wasn't focused on that.

"What happened?" Kael asked. To him, it looked like someone had set off a bomb.

"A Lion King almost passed through," Katari stared plainly.

"..." Kael went silent. He had specifically asked Alora to not allow any Lion King the chance to pass through the heavenly gate that she would open. It was just something he asked for, just in case it actually happened. To think a Lion King actually tried to pass through.

"Why didn't he pass through?" Kael asked.

"Alora closed the gate after passing through, at least I think that's what happened," Katari said.

Kael walked over to the paw-shaped crater with mixed feelings. This was a power that could have definitely killed him. How can a lion's paw be so big?

Wasn't the maximum size a lion achieved at tier 4? Kael asked himself. Indeed, lions would not grow any bigger after reaching a certain height in tier 4, unless…

"Did you see his face? What power did he use?" Kael asked. There were no residual auras left behind in the crater, giving him some conclusions.

"I didn't see his face, the Lion King only managed to get his paw through the gate, not his whole body.

There were no special powers used, just brute force." Katari said. Even she found it hard to believe what she had just said.

Nothing but raw physical force was what caused this level of destruction. This was the first time she and Kael were exposed to this kind of power, it was an eye-opener.

Since it was a Lion King, Kael found it hard to estimate just how much power would be needed to achieve this.

"Can a War Lion become so powerful?" Kael asked himself.

"What was he attacking? Xu Ying?" He was astounded. Even the claw marks were deep and well-dug. He could only imagine how big the entire body had to be.

"I don't think he was attacking anything," Katari said as she jumped into the crater with Kael, "It seems more like a mistake than an intentional attack,"

"Mistake?" Kael looked at Katari, confused.

Katari nodded, the scene of the massive paw coming out of the heavenly gate was still vivid in her mind, "To me, it looked like he was taking a step or something and used too much strength, not knowing that there would be land nearby.

Xu Ying had flown in with his magic shuttle so it's possible the Lion King did not imagine that land would be so close. He must have thought that the magic shuttle was flying in from a high altitude.

I'm also guessing it surprised him too, that's why he pulled back his paw without fighting to come through,"

Katari casually analyzed all that had happened in detail, from the very first second to the time it left.

Looking down, they could see that although the claw marks were deep relative to their size, it was shallow compared to how a lion's claw marks would look like if he actually tried to grip the ground with his claws.

This was probably due to the surprise of suddenly touching a hard surface where he thought it would be nothing but empty air.

It made sense as the Lion King had not set his sights on anything, he had no reason to use so much force unless he didn't do it intentionally.

"So, all this destruction was probably not even intentional?" Kael sighed. Just one Lion King was able to do this and it wasn't even his full power. An unknown Lion King at that.

"Probably…" Katari added.

Kael and Katari continued looking around, but there was nothing to see, no residual danger left behind at all. Perhaps, it had really been an accident.

"Is there anything that requires my attention?" Kael asked after not finding anything worth investigating anymore.

The land for many kilometers has been destroyed, no point in acting like he could fix it.

Katari shrugged her shoulders and began thinking. She personally couldn't care less about the many creatures that had died from that unintentional attack.

"Umm, you left so many high-level carcasses behind one month ago. Diane and Zabita have fed them to the important and most loyal caste members and leaders under us.

Since evolution into tier 3 causes a hibernation-like state. All of them have fallen into a deep slumber all at the same spot.

They should all be waking up around now.

We could also check on Burdo, although it's mostly boring stuff.

And Chloe, she should be far from here right now…"

Katari listed the things that were currently happening at the moment in the kingdom.

Kael nodded, now that Xu Ying, his group, and the matter of heaven had been pushed aside for now, he would focus more on building his strength, his army, and finding the Arkship.

There was also the issue of Origin Essence, but nothing could be done about it. As N'bayé said, they would have to find the Arkship first before knowing what to do.

After some thought, Kael activated his Lion System, causing a golden screen to appear in front of his face.

He selected Chloe's identity mark and immediately started a private chat with her.

Kael: Where are you?

The message was sent and Chloe, wherever she was, instantly received it.

The chat feature was running on the excess Conquering Essence that the lion system had. Unless it ran out of Conquering Essence, all messages will be sent without delay, although distance played a role in how much Conquering Essence was consumed for each message sent.

Chloe: Oh, you're awake, that's…nice.

Kael: Yeah, where are you now?

Chloe: We're in the wild plains, deep into the wild plains.

Kael wondered if they had encountered the Hot Lion Pride, his father's pride, or was he dead already?

Kael: Any issues?

Chloe: Yes, transportation issues. The Log Carriers and metal platforms N'bayé gave us to help aren't that effective without constant input of magic energy, and they malfunction a lot.

Also, the creatures I'm working with aren't trained scouts. All they have going for them is their natural skills and instincts.

Getting them to do the right thing is not easy…

Kael: Hmm, did N'bayé put tracking runes on those Log Carriers?

Chloe: Yes, some of them.

Kael looked away from his golden screen to see that Katari was looking at him. No, she was looking at his golden screen.

Anyone could see the golden screen and any lion linked to the Lion System could naturally see and understand the contents of his golden screen.

Katari was looking at his chat with Chloe. She showed no physical change in expression, although her eyes shifted slightly.

'I should really work on some privacy settings…' Kael thought to himself.

"Return to N'bayé, tell her to prepare the second space shuttle, set it on autopilot, and send it to Chloe's location," Kael said to Katari.

The latter nodded her head obediently, "Should I go with the shuttle to supervise Chloe?" She asked while tilting her head slightly to the side.

"No," Kael shook his head vigorously, he knew what Katari wanted to do, "You will deliver the message to N'bayé and come back to meet me."

"Okay," Katari nodded expressionlessly then teleported away.

Kael turned his attention back to the golden screen to continue his chat with Chloe.

Kael: I'm sending help.
