Chapter 270: Heavenly Gate
Alora, Xu Ying, Katari, and the others had finally left through the portal.
Alora took in a deep breath, last time she was outside in the main world, she had been a tier 3 Frost Lioness. She had intended to go in and not come out unless she was going to come out with some kind of benefit.
And now, she had stepped out of the pocket dimension as a bonafide tier 4 lion queen.
Although she would be considered one of the weakest queens alive, she already had ideas of how she could extract more status and power from her new position.
As they moved to the magic shuttle that was parked a few kilometers away, Alora couldn't help but think of Kael.
In truth, before now, she had never seen Kael as someone who could stand at the same level with her. He was just a Primordial Lion, someone who had been lucky, it didn't mean she had to bow her head to him.
She had even had a brief fantasy about defeating or killing him, a way to prove to herself that she didn't need some kind of ancient power to be better than any other lion.
The time he slapped her down with his wings had been a heavy blow for her, physically and mentally. But she still had the mindset that it was simply because he was stronger than her. If she and Kael had the exact same power level, down to the last decimal, maybe she would have been able to defeat him.
But seeing Kael and having that short transaction with him, she had been able to derive something. Kael was resourceful and opportunistic.
He sought to use her.
She felt…different, knowing that someone actually wanted to use her.
And it wasn't as if Kael was valuing her based on strength alone, but also on how that strength could be used to benefit him.
No one, besides her father, had ever made her feel like that, like she was just a puppet attached to strings she couldn't see.
She wanted to spend more time with Kael.
Not out of affection, but to learn from him. Power attracts power.
She couldn't put into words how Kael made her feel. She didn't like it, but strangely, she didn't hate it.
That acknowledgment that Kael had given to her. By ensuring she had the heavenly beacon, Kael had unknowingly acknowledged her value and usefulness.
A being who was clearly superior to her had acknowledged that she was superior to others.
Validation…
The pool of Conquering Essence within her was evidence of Kael's mysterious powers. This Conquering Essence enhanced her overall power and made her feel closer to tier 5 than normal.
She even suspected that her father didn't know what this Conquering Essence was or what it could do. She couldn't recall him having any aura similar to Conquering Essence on him at all.
'Kael…' She played with that name in her mind. Then her eyes revealed traces of strong killing intent, it appeared and disappeared in a flash.
"What's this thing?" Thawne exclaimed as he looked at the golden screen in front of him. He was currently in the public chat section and could see many lions and lionesses chatting with each other.
Not just him, the others, including Xu Ying, were also observing the public chat. Xu Ying found it quite interesting.
Suddenly, the temperature around Adolf rose sharply, causing everyone to look at him.
Adolf's eyes blazed with fervor, as though he was drunk and excited. That jovial light with a little touch of madness had returned to his eyes. Flames spewed from his nostrils, burning the air in front of his face.
He was watching the public chat room exploding with the fanatical messages of those lions who talked about dominating the world.
"Fight against the land, oppose the sky, and conquer the world… If there's nothing left to conquer, we'll move on to another world…" He repeated those words with a low voice using the lion language.
"For the Conquering!"
The chatroom was barraged with messages of lions and lionesses repeating the same chant.
"For the Conquering!"
Depression was usually caused when someone felt lost and overwhelmed by the true nature of reality. If only the light of purpose could lead them out of the dark tunnel of depression.
Without purpose, and without direction, anyone would feel lost. Adolf had felt lost after what Kael did to him, but now, looking at this chat room, his will was reignited.
The group arrived under Xu Ying's magic shuttle under the watch of Katari. Everyone except Alora ascended into the glowing hatches underneath the magic shuttle.
Xu Ying cast a glance at Alora, still feeling dejected just before he also entered the magic shuttle.
Alora and Katari were on the ground, standing in silence. One was cold and aloof, the other was empty and unpredictable.
The two of them stood four meters away from each other. Alora glanced at Katari, observing her, and Katari did the same.
They did not say anything to each other, they had nothing to say, and both of them did not intend to say anything.
Above, the magic shuttle hummed to life as the hover engines and runes lit up with power. The thrusters produced blue pseudo flames, getting ready to blast through the void.
"Alora, we're ready," Xu Ying said through a telepathic transmission.
Alora nodded, she moved forward until she was standing below the front tip of the magic shuttle.
She spread her hand wide as if she wished to embrace the heavens. Multicolored strings of light began. To flow out of her body, spinning around and forming a beautiful scene.
These strings of multicolored light had all come from the heavenly beacon within her. This was the core ability of those who possessed the heavenly beacon.
The strings of golden light flowed away from Alora and rose into the sky, forming a circular construct that began spinning in the sky.
*WHOOSH! BAM!*
The spinning strings of circular light collapsed on themselves and exploded into a show of beautiful multicolored clouds.
What was left behind was a portal, a multicolored gate to heaven. Unlike space portals, no one could see what was on the other side of those portals.
But they could all feel the aura that rushed out from it.
It was simply grand.
Katari's pupils shrank and her muscles tensed. Never had she felt such a powerful aura.
"Oh, who's that?" A deep voice echoed from the other side of the portal, a voice that used the lion language.
Alora didn't have a coordinate for where she was supposed to open the heavenly gate to, so she had just opened it randomly.
Somehow, the place in heaven where her heavenly gate had opened up was very close to this powerful lion.
And from the aura, this was a lion king.
"Make way, we're coming through!" Alora shouted, imbuing her voice with the chilling element of her powers.
"Go now!" She sent a telepathic message to Xu Ying. Kael had specifically asked her to not allow anyone to come through the portal, and that was an obedience debt she had to pay.
The contract had already begun to react.
There was a very costly price for not obeying Kael, one that she had not paid much attention to until now.
The magic shuttle hummed and started moving toward the portal.
"A Lion Queen…" The owner of the voice on the other side seemed surprised but didn't say anything more than that.
Xu Ying's magic shuttle began to cross over, entering the realm of Leonine Heaven inch by inch.
For Alora and Katari, it felt like years had gone by, but the shuttle merely passed through within a few seconds.
All that was left now was for Alora to leave and the portal would be closed with no way of coming back until the spatial distortion faded.
Alora shot forward at her fastest speed. The ground beneath her feet exploded into pieces of debris that flew everywhere. Ice formed on the ground and the air froze.
She had to cross over before the Lion King suspected anything.
"Wait!" Suddenly, the Lion King on the other side shouted from surprise. "Xu Ying? Didn't your King say that you got lost on that…
No, the Primordial…"
It was unclear whether the unknown Lion King was speaking with excitement or from rage, but he had made a move.
Alora had just reached the edge of the portal when a massive lion paw stretched out of the portal.
The paw was absolutely gigantic, more than one hundred meters in diameter, and white jagged claws bigger than whale ribs.
This was the paw of a War Lion.
*BOOM!*
The paw slammed down on the earthen ground, transmitting a terrifying shockwave that spread out, even reaching the pocket dimension.
Katari teleported away to avoid the devastation that followed.
Thankfully, just as Alora crossed the portal, the gate closed and the massive law was pulled back in.
