Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World

Chapter 266: Alora

"...And I'm willing to raise the debt from six to seven unconditional obedience, as long as the Primordial Lion ensures that I'm the one who fuses with the heavenly beacon," Alora said.

Her words stunned everyone at the throne level, including Kael.

Xu Ying's mouth remained open but he had nothing to say, he was completely speechless.

He didn't even have time to rebuke Alora for coveting the heavenly beacon without the permission from the lion kings.

"Alora!" He thundered, his face flushed with anger and disbelief.

This Alora was like a conniving snake. Overconfidence did not let Xu Ying be able to imagine anything or anyone in the group standing in his path toward becoming a lion king.

He never imagined that Alora would take hold of the only Kael presented to try to usurp power from him.

"What," Alora responded, lacing her tone with the disdain she had made effort to hide all this while.

This was just who she was, this was her true colors. She was extremely prideful and looked down on everything, including her fellow lions. In her eyes, nothing was as worthy of royalty as she was.

Her most prevalent and defining trait was her ego and narcissistic tendencies, which she usually kept hidden away, although with difficulty.

Even when she tried, she couldn't help but show looks of disdain and disgust when talking with other lions. Even her father, a lion king, had noticed this.

One could say that she inherited this trait from him. It was from him that she learned how to hide her ego so as to make the 'lesser lions' feel more comfortable.

To say that her heart was cold would be an understatement, it was chilling. No one was as good as she was, no one was better than her, and no one deserved to stand on the same footing as she did.

She saw herself as the royalty among royalty, the supposed queen among kings. How could she see Xu Ying and the others as her equal?

She was effectively detached from the feelings that most of them felt, her main goal being to accumulate more power. She desired the kind of power that would make kings bow to her.

But she had to start from somewhere, she couldn't just go around declaring herself the noblest of the lion race. She had to start little by little.

That was why she was among the few who actually volunteered to come for this expedition.

Perhaps, her father had guessed her original intentions but he didn't say anything or warn the lion kings about the danger she posed. Perhaps, his own narcissistic self wanted to confirm if his daughter could be as amazing as he was.

Alora knew that in order to materialize the esteem in which she held herself, she had to establish herself as a pillar of power. She had to become a Lion Queen.

The validations she would get from achieving this would be fascinating as she had found herself drawn to the validations she got from some people. But doing what she wanted to do would mostly be proof of her superiority.

Now, all lions had a varying degree of narcissism, higher than most creatures in the world, and most of it was usually directed and hardly relied on anything other than Lionhood to prove it.

Alora's ego and narcissism on the other hand could be considered at the peak, the extreme, the absolute heights any lioness could reach.

Alora couldn't settle for being any lion's consort, that would be a stain on her image and her ego.

She had no siblings from the same mother as she had killed all of them herself. Right from birth, she already hated the idea of sharing.

She couldn't even maintain ordinary friendships. Chloe was her only friend and that was because Chloe was also one of the people who could give her that honest validation she sought after.

Just because a random person praised her didn't mean she would let it get to her head. She already knew she was better than everyone, all she needed were the occasional confirmations from those that were close to her.

Like Chloe.

"How dare you! This is what you've been planning all this while? I should have known, spawn of…"

"And so what," Alora cut him off, she was drawing a line between both of them, no longer holding back, "Are you willing to take the heavenly beacon for that price?"

Xu Ying choked on his words. That was right, was he willing to offer Kael a better option? Seven was better than six.

The lion youths watched Alora with mixed expressions. Some of them had been thinking of doing the same thing but after Alora presented her offer, they flushed the idea out of their brains.

Yes, they loved power, but not the way Alora did. Many of them did not know what they wanted to use the power for or have a clear vision for it, unlike Alora and Kael.

Alora then turned to Kael and spoke softly wth confidence, "Primordial Lion, I'm sure you can recognize when like minds meet.

I have made an offer, and Xu Ying doesn't show any sign of accepting the first offer.

You need to dispose of the heavenly beacon and gain an ally in heaven at the same time. I can be that ally.

I may not be as powerful as Xu Ying, but I believe I'm more than capable of helping you,"

Although Alora spoke to Kael with a tone of sincerity, her eyes revealed scheming lights that were easily perceptible to someone like Kael.

Alas, narcissists have a common weakness of having trouble when it comes to hiding their true nature.

Even now, she still didn't see the Primordial Lion as her equal.

Back then, when Kael had slapped her down with his wing as she tried to outrun him, that had been a heavy blow to her psyche. Now, she put that event at the back of her mind, promising herself to clear her mind of the disgrace one day.

It was either she didn't plan on honoring the deal, or she had more to say. Either way, her main goal now was to use Kael to ensure she got her hands on that heavenly beacon.

She might even evolve if she fused with it, there was no way she would let the opportunity slip past her again.

….

Kael smiled.

What could he do other than to smile?

He found all these 'theatrics' fascinating. The power struggle was so entertaining, he would be excited if he wasn't also a player in this game.

Just looking at Alora and sensing her surface thoughts, he reevaluated her character to one of predictability.

People like Alora were dangerous, yes, but they were also predictable. He knew what moved her, what disgusted her, and what could shake her heart.

He turned his head to look at Katari who still stood beside him. And he saw something else that was also very interesting.

Katari was…smiling. She too found this Alra very interesting. A specimen that needed to be studied more.

'Of course,' Kael rolled his eyes. One was a psychopath, and the other was a narcissist. These two characters in most cases would either get along very well or end up killing each other.

Craziness recognizes Craziness.

For a few seconds, Kael didn't say anything. His golden eyes just kept on shifting between the white-haired lady and Xu Ying.

"And still, you haven't countered the offer?" Kael finally said to Xu Ying, "I was giving you time to think of a solution,"

Xu Ying opened his mouth but still found it hard to agree to the original six unconditional obedience to be unacceptable.

He guessed that Kael had some sort of bias toward him which was why he was still giving him a chance. After all, it was better to have Xu Ying a lion king than any other lion youths in the room, talk less of Alora.

Xu Ying glanced at Isaiah's unconscious form lying in the middle of the throne level and got an idea.

"I can offer you the latest invention of the lion race civilization, something that we have been working on for thousands of years and have finally perfected," Xu Ying said.

At his words, the lion youths showed a varying level of expression changes. Even Alora had visible changes as she furrowed her white eyebrows.

"It is something that only I can offer. If you take a look at Isaiah, you will notice that he lacks the visible traits of his Crane race. He looks more humanoid than anything.

This is because of the Limit Seal, a technique that has eluded all of us Magus Lions for many years ever since we saw the dragons use it.

Now, we have gotten it for ourselves. We finally know how to strip any creature of their power and make them…ordinary."
