Rebirth: Super gene

Chapter 128: The dream team is back

With aid from Man Tian and Tyrant, Bian was fed for the next couple of days. His body recovered quite nicely, and so did his fitness.

Once upon a time, Bian gathered over twenty life essences from the floating island where the halberd resided. He gave those life essences to Man Tian as he could not absorb them himself without knowing the energy flow of the creatures they belonged to.

Man Tian could absorb any life essence by fighting against the creature in his soul sea. This meant he would have to do battle with a super creature while aided by the creatures of the beast souls in his soul sea.

It was quite risky as the beast souls which perished were wiped away, and if he died in his soul sea, he would die in the real world as well.

This risk was removed when Bian gave him some super beast souls such as the Radiant Reaper and Ink Sun Dragon, among many more.

With the aid of the strong super beast souls, Man Tian was able to absorb all the life essences in a week and max out his super gene points.

It was a feat he would have accomplished later rather than sooner, but now all he needed to worry about were his sacred-blood and mutant gene points.

Creatures which had to be consumed took a lot of time due to their large bodies. It could take months for a single person to eat a huge sacred-blood creature.

Seeing as Man Tian had not maxed out his other gene points, Bian saved the three life essences he had snatched for Han Yan. He could always revisit and copy their energy flow with mental point targeting, and then Han Yan would copy his own energy flow to absorb the life essences.

Fighting against an Executioner was not something to be done alone unless he wanted to end up dead again. The stronger his companions, the more likely they could beat the Executioners while in one piece.

Besides, there were other ways to get strong without increasing his fitness. When the large sun attack was approaching him, and he felt as small as an ant, Bian had gained some enlightenment on the next stage of the dongxuan sutra.

He broke through to the sixth gene lock during the week and felt that the seventh gene lock was not too far away.

He had amazingly reached the ninth gene lock for three inner pillars and had eight self-gene locks opened.

"I'm already this strong with nine gene locks opened. How would I fare against the spirit emperors with ten gene locks opened?"

Bian knew Big Mara was an anomaly, probably the strongest being in the third sanctuaries, excluding the Executioners. Still, he felt sour thinking about the power difference between the two of them.

The rest of his week was spent in meditation. No one really knew what he was thinking about.

The shelter continued marching towards the second point on the compass. Hope Spirit was tending to the Golden Growler under the instructions of Bian.

He gave the last pill in the crystal heart to it. It was a big move, which allowed the Golden Growler to evolve even more and reach the status of a third sanctuary super creature.

Riding on the momentum, it was fed several water droplets from the black crystal every day. Its golden fur got softer, its eyes brighter, and its intelligence higher.

In that same week, the Golden Growler had opened six gene locks before the effect of the crystal pill completely faded away.

Although Bian wouldn't take it to battle yet, the Golden Growler was growing stronger steadily.

...

During the night, Bian and his company saw flashing lights like fireworks. Coincidentally, the last point on the compass was right in front of them.

With a nod, he left with Man Tian and Tyrant, heading towards the destruction ahead. They were able to see a spirit commanding three phoenixes to attack two individuals.

"Han Yan!" Bian called out her name. She had mastered a new movement technique, evading the attack of two phoenixes like a phoenix herself. She would strike at them when the opportunity presented itself, but she wasn't winning any time soon.

The second figure was that of a spirit, hurling bright silver punches at the last phoenix and spirit while yelling, "Alu-Alu-Alu."

His blows lit up the dark night but were evaded by the phoenix, while the opponent spirit used a fire shield to protect himself.

'Xie Qing King! I remember he doesn't have a spirit stone, which means I can do this!'

Bian unleashed the Emperical Aura. Now, if the opponent spirit died, he would be dead forever.

"Who are you to interfere in our fight?" The spirit scoffed and ordered the phoenix assaulting Xie Qing King to attack them.

"Be careful, it's a super creature," Han Yan yelled.

"I've got this, it's not—" Bian had summoned the golden vambrace while Man Tian had summoned a pair of gauntlets. Someone was faster than both of them, though.

"Scram!"

As Aeonshard, the berserk blade, was swung forward, a sharp white ray was released from the halberd, shattering the skull of the phoenix in one blow.

Boom!

The attack continued and struck the mountain behind Han Yan, blowing it to bits. She used the dongxuan aura and phoenix movements to evade the large boulders plummeting from the sky.

The other two phoenixes were also quite skilled, yet they both got trapped under the debris. It was as if some mystical force had affected the raining debris, causing it to fall on them.

"What is that power?" The spirit panicked for a moment. A berserk super creature could blow up a mountain, but not with such a casual attack.

Seeing that Tyrant had turned to face him, he prepared his powers, ready to resist any attack from his front.

"Forgetting about something!" Xie Qing King yelled as he pummeled the back of the spirit with his silver fists.

"Alu-Alu-Alu!" Each blow was like a sledgehammer, breaking through his defenses and shattering bones.

"When I come back, I'll have all of your heads!" the spirit said with bloodied teeth.

"You're not coming back. Those who die while bathed in the light of the Emperor are utterly erased beyond resurrection and reincarnation."

Boom!

Bian's jade fist struck the spirit's head, blowing it up. At the same time, the Emperical Aura seemed to react to his speech. Rushing into his body, it attempted to do... something, but it was as if Bian had not reached a certain requirement.

'How strange, I'll have to try that again at a later date.' Bian put the strange occurrence at the back of his mind.

"Caw!" The two phoenixes blew up the rubble encasing them. They saw their dead and flew away, not daring to fight their group.

Bian unleashed the Emperical Aura again while Tyrant did a vertical sweep with the halberd.

A sharp white ray was seen heading towards the retreating figures of the two phoenixes in the night sky.

The white ray slashed them, killing the two, and severed the clouds ahead, revealing the moon.

"When did he get so strong?" Han Yan asked, looking at Tyrant.

"He's not the only one. The rest of us are just overshadowed when he is around," Man Tian said, and Bian couldn't help but agree.

Tyrant's attacks were fast and lethal, killing foes in a single blow. It was reassuring to have such a strong companion but would not be beneficial if they relied on him.

"Xie Qing King, this is Bian Manwei. Bian, this is Xie Qing King." The two shook hands firmly, with Bian giving a nod of respect.

"It's good that we have such strong allies. After we gather the life essences, we're heading straight for Executioner Green. She has caused too much disturbance in the alliance."

"We need to take her out before she completely maxes out her sacred gene points, which I feel won't be far off now."

"Just sacred gene points?" Han Yan questioned.

"Yes, I'm sure she can't spend all her time looking for time-powered super creatures. It would take her years to find enough of them before she could max her super gene points."

"I know she didn't max them out in the first and second sanctuaries when I fought against her. She wasn't as strong as Executioner Blue, who was determined to do so."

"So where do we go now? I'm sure you know where she is," Man Tian said.

"Yeah, I know where she is. It was far from where I spawned in the third sanctuaries, and should be a bit closer now."

"Still, it should take a month or so to get there, and we aren't going to be idle all the way. After all, I've figured out a way to kill Executioner Green," Bian said, with a tint of madness in his voice.
