Rebirth: Super gene

With three life essences of the phoenixes and another three life essences which Bian had saved for her, Han Yan was able to boost her super geno points ro eighty-one. Of course, she could only improve so much because she had already slain a handful of super creatures herself.

'Now we're almost ready. Me, Man Tian, Han Yan, and Tyrant. If we can evolve the holy angel and prepare the golden growler, we would have even more allies to aid us.'

The shelter was en route to where Executioner Green was said to be hunting by Executioner Black. Judging by the speed of the shelter, they would get there in a month.

Bian had to ensure they were ready to face her by the time they got there. The golden growler would take time to naturally unlock all its gene locks.

This meant their last ally would be the holy angel, which had already eaten quite a number of sacred-blood creatures. Bian figured they would only need to find some super creatures for her to evolve.

"Hey, with your super body you must have collected some wild beast souls, right, since it's a guaranteed drop and all. Which beast soul do you have that you consider the most unique?" Han Yan asked while sitting on the wall, swinging her legs.

Bian gave it some thought. He had collected a variety of beast souls, including an aura beast soul, a weapon add-on beast soul, and many more. The strangest would be...

"A surrogate beast soul." That was the beast soul of the Enraged Current, which looked like a fiery skeleton with water skin.

"I once had a surrogate beast soul too," Han Yan said, looking up to the sky as she was reminiscing.

"Do you know what I like most about the beast soul?" she asked.

"Well, you can basically use it to cheat death. So I guess that would be it," Bian said with a shrug.

"That is useful, but not as useful as the reflection."

"The reflection?"

"Yes. After the surrogate beast soul has been used up, it didn't get destroyed, right?"

Bian gave a nod. The beast soul was still in his soul sea, but he couldn't use it anymore.

"Well, when I was fighting a sacred-blood creature, I summoned the used-up mutant surrogate beast soul, and you'll never believe what happened next."

"All the damage which the beast soul absorbed was transferred at once to the sacred-blood beast. It was like a one-time weapon, and it greatly damaged it. That was when the surrogate beast soul was finally gone."

'That is really important to know. So I basically have a one-time use super beast soul attack. But do I really? The surrogate beast soul never absorbed a single attack, only the gene opening mechanism of Big Mara.'

Bian stood up straight. He gave it some more thought and was certain. If he used the super beast soul on anyone, it wouldn't damage them. Rather, it would open the majority, if not all, of their gene locks.

'The light was concentrated on me for a while. The beast soul might open nine or even ten gene locks, making the enemy stronger than ever.'

"I'm guessing you're planning how to use the beast soul against the Executioner," Han Yan spoke while jumping down from the wall because it seemed Bian was about to run off somewhere.

Bian explained the Devil Realm to Han Yan and told her about how the surrogate beast soul had been saturated by the gene opening light of ancient devil.

"What if we could use this light on an ally instead? It might open all ten of their gene locks," Bian suggested.

"It would be dangerous, and artificially opening all ten gene locks would make the person weaker than if they had opened it by themselves," Han Yan said, walking beside Bian.

"Excluding the danger, I'm using it on a pacifist with a very special power. I've told you about Hope Spirit and how she can speed up the absorption of geno plants."

"That would indeed be a boon. Are you sure she can handle it though? For the light to open ten of her gene locks, not eventually, but at once?"

"There just might be a way to handle that. You see, Hope Spirit is a bit special. She has a connection with the tree growing in the main square. If she can channel any extra energy to the tree, it should prevent any harm." With the soul pillar in hyperdrive, Bian could make such connections in a split second.

"We need to stop anyway and take a detour around this river," Bian pointed to a river which the shelter was currently walking over.

He finally reached Hope Spirit and told her to stop the shelter. There was no need to bring the hulking mechanism near the danger zone they were about to approach.

He filled her in about the plan with the ups and downs. Sure enough, she was ecstatic at the chance to open all ten of her gene locks regardless of the price.

Spirits were not like humans, who had fine control over the intricacies of their powers. It might take an average spirit a million years to open all ten of their gene locks.

Hope Spirit further explained that she indeed had a connection with the Hope Tree. Any extra energy would be channeled not to the tree but the fruit, which would soon be ripe.

She plucked it out of the tree, and the tree soon turned to ash.

"Are you sure about this? If the energy is not enough to ripen the fruit, we have no way of restoring it."

"I'm not sure," Hope Spirit admitted.

"Then why take the risk?" Bian had to ask.

"It's called hope. I'm hoping it will work," she responded with a smile.

With a smile, Bian couldn't help but shake his head. After confirming the process from Han Yan, he summoned the Enraged Current.

A two-meter-tall fire skeleton with water skin appeared in front of him. He directed it to Hope Spirit, and the Enraged Current exploded with a ball of light striking Hope Spirit faster than the eye could see.

The light was extremely violent, as it forcefully opened her gene locks in rapid succession. After opening the tenth gene lock, the light was channeled into the Hope Fruit in her hands.

The unripe fruit absorbed the remaining power of the light, melting into her body.

Bang!

A white ribbon-like material spread across Hope Spirit like a cocoon. It shrunk and flew towards Bian's forehead, entering his sea of soul.

"She is evolving."

All the residents of the shelter were present. Bian gave some beast souls to Faith and Love Spirit and instructed them to protect the shelter while he, Man Tian, Han Yan, and Tyrant left.

"I thought you said we had a month. I was this close to breaking through the sixth gene lock," Man Tian said, clearly demanding an explanation.

"I recognize this river. It leads to a vine which has some fruits growing on it. We need those fruits for the Golden Growler," Bian stated.

Neither Man Tian nor Han Yan questioned Bian on how he knew about the river. They were both used to Bian's confidence. If anything, the presence of the Executioners seemed to throw him off his game.

"Wouldn't it be faster with the shelter?" Han Yan asked.

"We're going somewhere dangerous. Better not to get it involved. Besides..." Bian called over the Ivory Serpent and brought out a trident, along with an old parchment of paper.

"I have a faster way." With the trident and rite of passage, Bian stepped towards the river, which parted as he approached.

He gestured for the rest of them to follow, and they soon did. The river was extremely deep, covering even the fifteen-meter-tall Tyrant.

All four of them were in an air pocket. It was a giant bubble that protected them from the currents. And it was fast! Just a thousand times slower than the speed of light.

Swoosh!

The bubble zoomed through the river, water passed by them like starlight as they moved at incredulous speeds.

Soon golden spots appeared in the water, and a sun was even visible for a moment before they passed it by.

"That was the Flying Dragon Fish. It looks like we came just in time," Bian said.

He continued moving forward until the river reached a lake with a mountain in front. At the peak of the mountain were seven dragon-like vines, each with a purple bell-like fruit.

The bells were ringing, with fairies flying around them. That was the Aqua Fruit, which could help open gene locks or ascend the Holy Door.

"We are now in a danger zone. Emperor Spirits and berserk super creatures are all here. Among the golden lights we saw before was a friendly berserk super creature, but there are many more here which will be hostile."

"I know we all recently got a major power boost, but we still need to exercise caution when fighting Emperor Spirits," Bian reminded them not to get overconfident, which was one of the major causes of death.
