Rebirth, Seduce My Ex-husband

Chapter 14: BONUS CHAPTER

Now seated across from each other, Rowen asked, "What's the real reason you're here?"

Smiling slightly, Vanessa replied, "I'm here to ask for your permission to take Tara. I want to spend some time with my daughter. I miss her."

Her eyes wavered slightly as she spoke, but Rowen remained silent.

A week ago, he wouldn't have hesitated to lash out and refuse her. But now, something inside him wanted to give Vanessa a second chance.

Yes, she had been a terrible mother. Yes, she was partly to blame for Tara going missing. But now, she was trying to make amends.

Sighing, he removed his glasses and placed them on the table.

Then, he stood up and walked toward Vanessa, resting his hands on the arms of her chair. His eyes locked onto hers as he spoke in a husky voice, "What exactly do you want, Vanessa?"

"Why are you doing all this? Why pretend to be a good mother? What's your aim?" he questioned, his gaze never leaving hers.

Vanessa scoffed slightly and met his stare without wavering. "How many times do I have to tell you? I have no agenda. I'm doing this because I've changed."

"Changed? No one changes overnight. You can't just wake up one day and suddenly become a good mother. If you could change this easily, why didn't you do it years ago? Why now, when trusting you is so hard for me?"

"I know it's hard for you to believe me. I don't blame you after everything I've done. But you have to trust me on this… I've changed. And the only way I can prove it is if you give me a chance. Just this once, please."

She pleaded, her voice softer now. "At least do it for Tara. She misses me as much as I miss her. Don't deny her the chance to have her mother in her life… please."

Rowen sighed and sat back down, running a hand through his hair as he groaned slightly.

Facing Vanessa, he said, "You know, in seven years of marriage, today was the first time I ever tasted your cooking. I didn't even think you knew how to cook, let alone clean."

Vanessa sighed. "Well… before my family became this rich, we were just a middle-class family. My mom and I did all the house chores, cooking, and cleaning. And don't forget, being an actress teaches you a lot of different skills."

Rowen simply nodded in response.

Seeing an opportunity, Vanessa added, "If you want, I can start making you lunch. I could bring it to your office."

"Suit yourself," he said. Then, after a brief pause, he added, "As for Tara, she'd probably love to try her mother's cooking too. She's all yours tomorrow but she'll be picked up in the evening. Take good care of her. I don't want any unnecessary incidents."

With that, Rowen stood up and walked out of the room.

Smiling, Vanessa said, "Good night."

But she received no response.
