Chapter 12: Press Conference 2
FEW MINUTES INTO THE PRESS CONFERENCE
Rowen arrived at his personal condo as he removed his watch and loosened his tie.
He then collapsed gently on his couch, taking hold of his tablet.. the first notification that popped up on his screen was the live notification on Vanessa's Page.
Hesitating slightly, he decided to see what all the whole press conference was about and to his shock, he witnessed what later placed almost everyone in Graceland in shock.

"I was ashamed of her," she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper. Gasps filled the room, the air suddenly thick with tension. But she wasn't done.
"I was ashamed... not because she was my daughter, but because I didn't deserve to be her mother." She clenched her jaw, forcing herself to meet the countless eyes staring at her through the cameras. "Seven years ago, I was selfish. I was blinded by fame, by success, by everything that made me feel powerful. And in the midst of it all, I forgot the one thing that truly mattered her."
Tears welled up in her eyes, but she didn't blink them away. She let them fall. "I neglected her. I ignored her cries, her needs… I made choices that no mother should ever make. And every time I looked at her, I saw my own failure. Not because she wasn't enough, but because I wasn't."
The audience was silent. Not a single camera clicked. Even the reporters who had come prepared to tear her apart were left speechless.
Vanessa swallowed hard. "But I changed. I fought to become better not for the world, not for my career, but for her. She gave me another chance when I didn't even deserve it. And now… I refuse to hide her, not because the world wants to see her, but because she deserves to be seen."
She looked up, her voice raw with emotion. "I love my daughter. I love her more than words can ever describe. And I will spend the rest of my life proving that to her."
The conference room was silent for a few seconds before it erupted.
[ User 272882: "I can't stop crying… this is so heartbreaking." ]
[ User 366738: "Vanessa, we love you!! No one is perfect, but the fact that you changed for your daughter makes you an amazing mother." ]
[ User 128376: "She's so strong for admitting this publicly. Not many people have the courage to own up to their past." ]
[ User 765432: "We forgive you, Vanessa. Your daughter is lucky to have you now." ]
The overwhelming support flooded in. Reporters who had come expecting a scandal were left with a story of redemption instead.
Susan, watching from behind, let out a small breath of relief. She had doubted Vanessa's choice to go off-script, but now she realized this was what the people needed to hear.
Vanessa wiped her tears, a small, grateful smile forming on her lips. "Thank you," she whispered into the microphone before bowing slightly.
And with that, the press conference ended.
Rowen adjusted his glasses and set the tablet aside, expression unreadable.
Vanessa had changed. That much was clear.
He hadn't expected it. He wasn't sure what to do with it.
For years, she had been selfish, reckless. Now, she stood before the world, admitting her mistakes. Owning them.
It didn't erase the past. It didn't change what she had done.
But still…
Rowen exhaled, running a hand through his hair. He didn't like complications. He didn't like second-guessing.
And yet, for the first time in years, he wasn't sure whether to walk away or consider giving her another chance.
**
After the press conference, Vanessa made her way back home.. It was around 4 in the evening, so she made her way back to her apartment.
The news was everywhere, literally no one in Graceland wasn't aware of Vanessa's shocking speech.
And the fact that it was even elevating her fame was what drove people insane and when I mean insane, we have some certain people who are more than angry to know what was going on.
"Smash!
Eunice threw a vase next to her on the ground, smashing it to pieces.
"Aaaggghhh!" She groaned loudly in annoyance.
Seeing this Erin frowned, "calm down, that face was given to me by my mother.. now you've broken it, sigh!"
He said as he took his seat on her couch. "What are you so worked up about ?"
Flaring up, Eunice replied, "Are you seriously supposed to be asking me such a question? Don't you see what's going on.. Vanessa is freaking everywhere on social media, why is everyone all gushing about her.. she is a horrible mother yet they all believe her lies!"
She said angrily as she collapsed on her couch.
Feeling not too worried, Erin just patted her back, "Don't worry yourself over it.. they are all blind.. in less than a week, everyone will forget about this.. don't worry."
"How can I not worry Erin, she has been acting so strange since I came back.. and she's suddenly so smart all of a sudden, I don't like it one bit… i-i-i just feel like punching he face.. ah!"
Smiling mischievously, Erin then stated, "Don't worry, for your sake I'll reach her a lesson.. "
"What will you do?"
"You'll find out.. hahaha."
