Primordial Lust System

Chapter 45: Damsel in distress?

"Argh, someone help me! Please, he wants to steal my purse!" Somewhere off in the distance, not far from the Red Lantern brothel, a woman shrieked in desperation.

"Huh? Somebody dares steal in broad daylight? Hmmm, truly courting death!"

"Yeah, it's about time I taught one of those thieving bastards a lesson!"

"Shut up, dumbass. You're a mortal, not an awakened hunter!"

"What does that have to do with this? If anything, I'm going to cheer as the bastard gets his ass handed to him!"

"Step away, you incompetent trash. Let me deal with him, I'll save that beauty myself!"

"Trash?! Who do you think you are..."

"Oh, I'm sorry, noble Cedric. I was blind not to see the immensity of the heavens and earth."

"Oh, shit! It's Cedric! The thief's done for this time, he's going to get crippled at the very least."

A commotion soon erupted, drawing the attention of a certain cloaked figure, his obsidian eyes glinting with curiosity.

"Yeah, not my business," he breathed. Still, unable to resist, he cast a sideways glance, his eyes resting at the center of it all before they twinkled in wonder.

At the center, a bald-haired man with a scar beneath his eyes grappled with what he could only describe as one of the most beautiful women he had yet to see, for her pouch.

A comical sight, if one were to look at it from another perspective. The more he stared, the more his brows furrowed. His eyes fell on the beauty, sporting silky raven hair that trailed all the way down her back and ethereal, gleaming emerald eyes.

Her aura... it felt strangely familiar. He was sure he hadn't seen her before, but the feeling buzzed at him.

"Huh? Is that you, Black Hart?" the noble who had come to the rescue suddenly blurted, his eyes shrinking as he froze in place.

Beads of sweat already dripped down his face.

"Wait, did he just say Black Hart, the E-rank mercenary?"

"I think so… On second thought, I should probably just mind my own business."

"Yeah, me too. I hear he's a dogshit person. I don't want to cross him."

Murmurs rippled across the area. The people who had come out slowly began to leave.

"E-rank mercenary?" Aurelian muttered, his brows arching. If it were before, he would have long jumped out to save the beauty, but that hadn't worked out well for him last time.

A quick scan with his now growing, though increasingly useless, appraisal skill had him arch his brows even more.

[Name: Black Hart]

[Level 26: E-rank]

He could see the attributes of the guy thanks to his recent upgrade. The lady, on the other hand, had his lips twitching.

[Name: ???]

[Level: ??? | Rank: ???]

A plot? Some scheme to lure in poor guys with a sense of righteousness? he mused before picking up his pace. He'd seen enough, the whole thing seemed to be some kind of pre-planned orchestra.

Just as his figure was about to fade into the distance, the lady called out to him: "You… young hero… please save me…!"

Aurelian smirked at her plea before turning back, a dark smile hanging across his lips as he voiced, "No."

"Huh?" Seraphina blinked, momentarily taken by surprise. She'd orchestrated all this so she could get a better grasp of his character while endearing herself to him.

It sounded ridiculous from another point of view an A-rank being trying to endear herself to an F-rank? Preposterous by all standards. But the prophecy that spoke of him was even more preposterous. The feats he would accomplish… and all the signs kept leading back to him. Her mind was already made up past this point.

If she remembered right, she had a line of people who would quickly jump at this opportunity. Her face reddened, the toll of rejection taking more than she had anticipated. Was she not beautiful enough?

"Why?" she whispered, taken aback as she radiated a sliver of her aura, freezing the supposed bandit in place. Her emerald eyes turned cold.

"Hmmm, it's nothing personal. It's just not my business. Besides, what do I get out of this?" Aurelian smirked, nodding thoughtfully.

"Oh?" Seraphina sighed. So it wasn't about her. The aura she radiated diminished. The man beside her trembled, drenched in sweat, but she paid him no mind. Turning her full attention to Aurelian, her emerald eyes pierced into his before her lips twitched. A thought surfaced at the back of her mind after she saw what she could only describe as embers of intelligence gleaming deep inside.

Had he seen through all this? Had she been making a fool of herself the whole time? Her face scrunched up at the thought before she breathed: "So, what do you want?" She wasn't trying to keep up the façade anymore.

Smacking his lips, he scanned her body slowly. He'd already surmised she was strong, just not by how much.

Besides, he consoled himself, the goblin chieftain had been strong too, but he had defeated it, right? What were the odds she was some kind of eccentric powerhouse with nothing better to do than bug him?

"Hmmmm?" Aurelian smiled, a thoughtful expression etched on his face as if he were really thinking about it, before he blurted out:

"You. I want you." A dark, lewd smile etched on his lips.

"Uh?" Seraphina mumbled, taken by surprise. Her contentment morphed into sudden rage as she caught the implication of his words, coupled with the smug grin on his face.

"Y… you… lecherous bastard!" she yelled, her emerald eyes gleaming with an entrancing hue. Before she could rein back her aura, it spread, slamming into the poor guy beside her and crushing him into a bloody mist.

"The fuck?" Aurelian blinked, reconsidering his life choices. Crushed by the pressure of aura? How strong did the other party have to be to accomplish this? As he felt a sliver of it encroach on him, realization dawned and he blurted it out immediately after.

"A-rank powerhouse?" No wonder it had felt familiar, it was similar to that of the heavenly beauty, Areola, whom he had first encountered.

"I should have seen this coming!" Aurelian breathed. The fact that his Luck attribute was still null even at this point was all he needed to know, he had abysmal luck. But no, he just had to be cocky.

Before this could escalate further, he cast one last glance at the lady before murmuring: "Well, won't you look at that? You didn't even need my help. I should get going then. See ya around."

With that, he turned his back on her, quickening his pace toward the city's F-rank dungeons.

"Uh, you want to leave now? Didn't you say you wanted me? How about I do you one better and give you a piece of me?" Seraphina smirked, letting her emotions get the better of her.

It was about time to teach the little chosen one a lesson.

"Argh, fuck!" Aurelian cursed, almost tripping at the onset of her words.
