Chapter 4: Chapter 4: System Activation!

"Ding, congratulations to the host for successfully obtaining the first Pokémon and successfully activating the system. Do you want to start the system?" At this moment, a voice that made Robert excited came from his mind.

"Activation."

It goes without saying that Robert, who had been waiting for this moment for a long time, would not hesitate to activate it. After all, he had been looking forward to this system since he was three years old.

"Ding, system activated successfully!"

"Congratulations to the host for getting his first Pokémon and a novice gift pack. Do you want to open it?"

"Open!"

"Ding, congratulations to the host for obtaining three unknown Mega Evolution Stones, an accessory key stone and bracelet, six Luxury Balls, three random skill discs, and 1000 Pokémon Points."

"This... is actually a Mega Evolution Stone! Even though it's unknown, it's a good deal. The Luxury Balls and Skill Discs are also great, and the Pokémon Points should be the system's special currency."

Looking at the novice gift package rewards, Robert suddenly became excited.

The Mega Evolution Stone is a powerful item that allows Pokémon to evolve further. Although the effect is temporary and cannot be maintained at all times, it remains a powerful trump card.

After calming down, Robert decided to explore the system's features.

"System, what functions do you have? Explain them to me."

"Okay, host."

"The system consists of four main functions: Exploration, Pokémon Mall, Achievement System, and Mission System."

"Exploration can detect basic information about everything, including humans and Pokémon."

"The Pokémon Mall allows you to use Pokémon Points to purchase all Pokémon-related items, food, and auxiliary equipment. Pokémon Points are earned by winning Pokémon battles. The higher the level of Pokémon you defeat, the more points you earn."

"The Achievement System rewards the host when an achievement is completed. The rarity of the achievement determines the reward value."

"The Mission System consists of main and side missions. Completing missions earns various rewards. Main missions cannot be abandoned, but side missions can be, without penalty."

"Yes, this looks simple and clear."

After understanding the system, Robert checked the newly obtained items in his system backpack.

"A Luxury Ball—an advanced Poké Ball that increases a Pokémon's friendliness and comfort. Perfect for Charmander."

"Skill Discs are essentially skill manuals. Although they're random, they help Charmander learn moves that normally require a certain level or extensive training."

"As for the Mega Evolution Stones, I hope one of them is for Charizard. Otherwise, I'll have to wait."

Thinking it through, Robert tapped on the three unknown Mega Evolution Stones in his system backpack.

"Ding, congratulations to the host for obtaining a Charizardite X, a Beedrillite, and a Pidgeotite."

"Charizard, Beedrill, and Pidgeot's Mega Evolution Stones? Looks like I'm lucky. These Pokémon are already on my list to catch. With these stones, I have a solid trump card."

After handling everything, Robert took out a black, gold, and red Poké Ball from his system backpack, squatted down, and said to Charmander, "Charmander, how about a new home? This Poké Ball is more comfortable than a regular one."

"Wow!"

Hearing this, Charmander nodded. In its mind, Robert was its master, and it trusted him completely. Plus, if Robert said the new home was better, that was enough reason to accept.

"Alright then, come in." Robert first retrieved Charmander's original Poké Ball, then gently touched Charmander's head with the Luxury Ball. Instantly, Charmander was enveloped in a red light and drawn into the new Poké Ball.

"Come out, Charmander!" Robert released Charmander again and asked, "How's the 'environment' inside? Comfortable?"

"Wow!"

Charmander jumped excitedly, making it clear that the Luxury Ball was much more comfortable than an ordinary Poké Ball. It even seemed reluctant to leave it.

"I'm glad you like it. In that case, let's continue our journey. I hope we can find a suitable campsite before dark."

Robert looked at the sky and realized they wouldn't make it through Viridian Forest to Viridian City before nightfall. But he wasn't in a hurry—he planned to stay in the forest a little longer.

As for why?

Simple.

He wanted to build a stronger bond with Charmander, gain combat experience, and capture new Pokémon. He also needed to earn Pokémon Points.

A quick glance at the Pokémon Mall confirmed that it had not only the usual items from the Pokémon world but also rare and powerful items from the games—such as EXP-sharing devices, stat-boosting fruits, and items that enhanced Pokémon growth.

To get the best equipment, Robert needed as many Pokémon Points as possible, so he planned to train and battle extensively in the forest.

Just as Robert and Charmander were about to head deeper into Viridian Forest, a Pokémon suddenly leaped from the bushes, blocking their path.

It had brown and cream-colored feathers, and its sharp eyes were locked onto them—more specifically, onto Charmander. It seemed to recognize a fellow battle-hardened fighter.

A wild battle was about to begin!
