Chapter 5: Chapter 5: The First Elf Battle!
"This is... Pidgey?"
Looking at the small bird Pokémon blocking his path, Robert quickly used the system's detection function to analyze it.
[Pokémon: Pidgey]
Category: Bird Pokémon
Type: Normal, Flying
Height: 0.5m (Draw value: 0.3m)
Weight: 2.0kg (Average: 1.8kg)
Gender: Male
Ability: Keen Eye (Prevents accuracy loss and ignores the target's evasion boost.)
Hidden Ability: Big Pecks (Prevents Defense from being lowered.)
Individual Values: HP (31), Attack (30), Special Attack (31), Defense (23), Special Defense (26), Speed (31)

Strength: Ordinary Intermediate
[Strength Classification]
Pokémon strength is divided into multiple ranks: Normal, Elite, Gym, Quasi-Elite, Elite, Pokémon Champion, and Master. Each rank is further split into Beginner, Intermediate, High, and Peak.
"Wow, am I lucky or what? A 3V individual value, almost reaching 4V. Speed, Special Attack, and HP are maxed out!" Robert exclaimed as he studied Pidgey's stats.
The Individual Value (IV) system measured a Pokémon's potential from 0 to 31, with 31 indicating maximum potential, also known as a 'V'.
"Speaking of which, I haven't checked Charmander's stats properly since getting him. Let's see what a special breeder Charmander can offer."
Robert immediately accessed Charmander's profile.
[Pokémon: Charmander]
Category: Lizard Pokémon
Type: Fire
Height: 0.6m (Draw value: 0.6m)
Weight: 8.5kg (Draw value: 8.5kg)
Gender: Male
Ability: Blaze (Boosts Fire moves when HP is low.)
Hidden Ability: Solar Power (Boosts Special Attack in sunny weather but drains HP each turn.)
Individual Values: HP (31), Attack (30), Special Attack (31), Defense (30), Special Defense (28), Speed (26)
Moves: Scratch, Growl, Ember, Smokescreen
Strength: Ordinary Advanced
"2V IVs, with two more at 30. That's just shy of a 4V Pokémon. Not bad!" Robert thought.
Having a system to scan Pokémon stats was incredibly convenient. It made capturing and training Pokémon much more efficient. At this rate, he could aim for a 6V Pokémon in no time.
"Alright, Pidgey, if you're looking for a fight, then let's do this! Charmander, I choose you!"
"Char!" Charmander let out an excited cry, blowing a small flame toward the sky before stepping forward. He locked eyes with Pidgey, his fiery tail burning brightly with determination.
"Pidgey!"
Pidgey flapped its wings and rose half a meter into the air, its Keen Eye glinting sharply.
"Charmander, start with Ember!"
"Char!"
Charmander inhaled deeply before unleashing a flurry of small fire sparks aimed at Pidgey.
"Pidgey!"
Pidgey swiftly flapped its wings, summoning a Gust attack that blew out the flames and rushed toward Charmander.
"A Gust attack? Charmander, dodge it! Use Smokescreen to blind it, then get close with a Growl! Finish with Scratch!"
Charmander spewed a thick Smokescreen, shrouding the battlefield in a dark fog.
"Pidgey!"
Pidgey flapped harder, trying to clear the smoke.
"Now, Charmander!"
"Char!"
Charmander swiftly dashed through the smoke, appearing directly beneath Pidgey. With a sharp Growl, the small dragon startled the bird, making Pidgey momentarily falter mid-air.
"Pidgey!"
The bird Pokémon lost its balance, causing its altitude to drop slightly.
"Now's your chance! Jump and use Scratch!"
Charmander's tiny legs pushed off the ground, launching him upwards. His right claw glowed white as he slashed Pidgey across its body.
A critical hit!
If this were a game, a -40 HP damage value would have floated over Pidgey's head.
"Pidgey!"
Pidgey let out a pained cry as it spiraled downward.
"Finish it with Ember!"
Charmander shot a small stream of flames straight at Pidgey mid-air, hitting it before it could recover.
The combination of Scratch and Ember was too much for the wild Pokémon. Its body hit the ground with a soft thud.
Pidgey has fainted!
"Now's my chance! Poké Ball, go!"
Robert quickly grabbed a Luxury Ball from his system's inventory and tossed it at Pidgey.
The ball struck the fallen Pokémon, sucking it inside with a red light. It shook once… twice… three times…
Ding!
The ball stopped shaking. Capture successful!
"Yes! I caught Pidgey!"
Overcome with excitement, Robert took off his hat and raised it in the air in a classic victory pose.
"Char!"
Charmander cheered alongside him, jumping up in delight.
After checking the ball to confirm his new capture, Robert turned to his loyal partner.
"Great job, Charmander! That was our first battle, and you nailed it!"
"Char! Char!" Charmander puffed out his chest proudly.
Robert glanced back at the Luxury Ball in his hand.
"With Pidgey on our team, we now have a Flying-type Pokémon. That'll be useful for scouting and covering Charmander's weaknesses."
Pulling out his Pokédex, Robert quickly checked Pidgey's moveset and stats again.
"With some training, he can evolve into Pidgeotto and then into Pidgeot, a strong and reliable Pokémon. I think we made a great addition to the team today."
Charmander gave an excited nod.
Robert clenched his fist.
"Alright, let's keep moving forward! There are many more Pokémon to catch and even stronger trainers to face!"
As Robert continued down the forest path, he couldn't help but feel exhilarated. His journey had truly begun, and with Charmander and now Pidgey by his side, the possibilities felt endless.
