Chapter 5: Analysis
The capital city is the center of the Alliance, and flying Pokémon are usually prohibited from entering.
The Tropius that Jiang Yu and his mother were riding could only fly to a landing point near the capital, where they found a receptionist and then got into a car heading toward the research institute.
Two hours later, at the entrance of the institute, stood a woman who caught everyone's eye. She was wearing blue jeans, a white shirt, and a white lab coat. Her hair just reached her neck, making her look both feminine and neat, which complemented her temperament.
This woman was Xia Shuhua's friend, Fang Yu, a graduate of Jingcheng University. The two had met in college when Fang Yu went to Shanghai University as an exchange student. At that time, Xia Shuhua was one of the top students at Shanghai University. It was inevitable that two top students would cross paths, and through their interactions, they developed a deep friendship. They had kept in touch both academically and personally ever since.
Xia Shuhua got out of the car and immediately hugged the woman.
"Long time no see, Fang Yu."
"Long time no see. This is your son, right? I haven't seen him in over ten years, and now he's grown into a handsome young man, haha."
"Hello, Aunt Fang," Jiang Yu said, scratching his head.
"Let's go in first."

In a laboratory, the Pokémon egg was placed in a cylindrical container, scanned by a beam of light every ten seconds.
The three of them sat in front of the screen, watching as the data refreshed repeatedly.
"The situation is not optimistic. There are three types of energy inside this child's body. One is Fire-type energy, and the other is Psychic-type energy. These two energies do not belong to it, and they are not actively harming the child's body. However, they are both too immense and incredibly pure. But the strange thing is that these two energies have achieved a perfect balance, just like..." Fang Yu trailed off as she examined the screen.
"It's like these two energies are one," Xia Shuhua suddenly said.
"Yes, that's right. But the child is too weak to endure them, which is why this situation has occurred," Fang Yu confirmed.
"This child is only surviving because of the third energy, which is its original energy and likely came from a relative. This energy continuously converts the Fire and Bug energy into life force, allowing the child to grow inside the egg and forming the foundation to accommodate the other two energies. However, no Pokémon in its larval stage can withstand these two energies. Its original energy has long been exhausted in the process of shaping its body and resisting the two energies," Xia Shuhua explained.
"Fortunately, its original energy did not blindly merge with either of the other two energies; otherwise, we wouldn't be seeing this egg at all. To be honest, I have never seen such perfect Psychic and Fire-type energy. Even its original energy is stronger than I could have imagined," Fang Yu said, both frustrated and excited.
Fang Yu continued, "This original energy should be enough to support it until hatching. But... the same problem remains. Its body is too weak to withstand the other two energies. So, there are two ways to solve this problem."
"The first method is to find its original energy source and infuse it into the child's body until it grows strong enough to handle these two energies. However, the feasibility of this method is almost zero. If nothing unexpected happened, the Pokémon that provided the original energy should have already converted all of its life force into it. This means… this child has no living relatives. And for the original energy to be this powerful, there would need to be an extraordinarily strong Volcarona in existence, which, as far as I know, does not exist in the world."
"The other way is to extract the two foreign energies," Fang Yu said at last.
"No, absolutely not. If we extract the energy, the child will..." Xia Shuhua immediately refused.
Yes, the two energies had already merged with it, filling every cell.
The three of them discussed it thoroughly and finally decided to place the Pokémon egg in the highest-grade nutrient solution available in the research institute and observe if the situation improved the next day.
With that decided, Jiang Yu returned to the room Aunt Fang had prepared for him and lay down on the bed.
Jiang Yu refused to give up. He opened the system and looked at the description of the Pokémon egg. One particular phrase caught his attention:
[Two forces beyond specifications]
Psychic and Fire-type power beyond normal limits… It was hard not to associate it with the existence of Legendary Pokémon. The power of their authority should be considered supernormal, right?
If it really was the power of a Legendary Pokémon, then identifying the source of the Fire-type energy became much easier. There were only a handful of Legendary Pokémon associated with fire, and most of them wielded flames primarily for offense—something that didn't align with the energy inside this egg.
In other words, this flame likely came from Ho-Oh.
Why not Reshiram? Because Reshiram symbolizes destruction and instability. It battles when Zekrom appears and does not concern itself with the destruction of human cities. In Jiang Yu's opinion, Reshiram's fire would likely carry offensive properties, unlike the energy sustaining the egg.
Meanwhile, Ho-Oh's flames have the power to revive the dead and even created the three Legendary Beasts: Entei, Raikou, and Suicune.
That meant Ho-Oh's flames carried the power of life.
As for the Psychic-type energy, its origins were harder to determine. Among first-tier Legendary Pokémon, those with Psychic attributes included Necrozma, Solgaleo, Lunala, and Lugia.
If Mewtwo existed in this world, then it was also a strong possibility. Although not classified as a traditional Legendary Pokémon, Mewtwo had the power to rival first-tier gods and even surpass some—especially with Mega Evolution, which gave it two separate forms, making it one of the only Pokémon with such a trait.
As for Victini, even though it was a Fire/Psychic-type Pokémon, the system described the energy as beyond specifications. While Victini symbolized victory, there was still a considerable gap between it and truly powerful Legendary Pokémon.
Of course, these were only his speculations. To confirm his theories, Jiang Yu needed to investigate the Larvesta's origins.
For now, there was no way to save the Larvesta, but there was still hope.
Jiang Yu also noticed something interesting about the system—it did not allow him to claim any rewards or complete any tasks yet.
This meant that the Larvesta had not been officially recognized as his Pokémon.
In other words, only after he captured the Larvesta would the system acknowledge it as his.
If this guess was correct, then the system would be his only chance to save this Pokémon.
If even the system couldn't help, then he would have to rely on a legendary being.
The one Pokémon known for bringing rebirth—Ho-Oh.
But if it really came to that…
Where could Jiang Yu possibly find Ho-Oh?
And was there any way to obtain its Sacred Fire—the flames of rebirth?
No matter what, he had to ask his mother and Aunt Fang if there were any clues about Ho-Oh tomorrow.

Inside the study, darkness and silence intertwined, creating an atmosphere of mystery and depth. The surrounding walls seemed to swallow all light, making it difficult to make out the contours of the room. Only the faint glow of the moon allowed the vague outlines of furniture to be seen in the shadows.
In the center of this eerie silence, a Pokémon egg radiated a faint red glow, standing out in the dim space. No sounds broke the stillness.
Even the slightest breath seemed to be consumed by the overwhelming silence.
It was impossible to tell whether this was true quiet—or the moment before something awakened.
