Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Incubation
Jiang Yu sat in the incubation room, his brows furrowed as if something weighed heavily on his mind, making it difficult to breathe. His hands were tightly clenched, his fingertips turning white from the force, as if he was trying to grasp something just out of reach.
His eyes carried deep exhaustion. He repeatedly checked his phone, hoping for new information, but each time, he was met with disappointment.
Over the past few days, Jiang Yu had learned that the last recorded sighting of Ho-Oh was several hundred years ago, during a time when the entire world was trapped in eternal night.
During that period, an endless darkness engulfed the world, as if the sun had vanished forever, leaving only an unending abyss.
After the dark night was dispelled, Ho-Oh was never seen again.
Before that, historical records stated that Ho-Oh had used its Sacred Fire to resurrect three unknown Pokémon, which later became the Legendary Beasts: Entei, Raikou, and Suicune.
According to the texts, Ho-Oh had always appeared within the territory of the Huaxia Alliance, suggesting that it likely resided somewhere within its lands—but no one knew exactly where.
Jiang Yu let out a sigh.
"Let's eat something first. There's always a way forward. Once the baby hatches, there may be unexpected improvements," Xia Shuhua said, bringing a fresh batch of nutrient solution.
"Let's change the nutrient solution first," Jiang Yu replied wearily.
Just as the two were about to place the Pokémon Egg into the incubator, the egg suddenly trembled slightly. The shaking gradually intensified.
"Hurry! Put it down! The baby might be hatching!!!" Xia Shuhua exclaimed urgently.
She quickly turned and shouted, "Fang Yu! Get over here! The baby is hatching!!!"
The two of them focused entirely on the egg, their eyes fixed on it. The rhythmic trembling of the egg seemed to synchronize with their own heartbeats.
Thud! Thud!
Fang Yu rushed in upon hearing the shout, only to freeze on the spot, staring at the egg alongside them.
Time seemed to slow down, each second stretching endlessly, as if frozen in place. Their heartbeats echoed in the quiet nursery, reminding them that time was still moving forward, moment by moment.
As the life within the egg gradually awakened, the surrounding light flickered and grew brighter, illuminating the laboratory as if it were daytime. The radiance seemed to resist the stillness of time, bringing warmth and energy to the new life about to be born.
This moment felt infinite, filled with anticipation and endless possibilities. The three of them stood there, watching the egg as if traveling through time itself, waiting for the arrival of new life.
Suddenly, a crack appeared on the eggshell.
A small, fluffy Pokémon peeked out of the opening. Though its eyes had yet to fully open, it could already sense the warmth and friendliness in the room. It wobbled slightly, trying to adjust to this unfamiliar world.
The newborn Larvesta had a moth larva-like body with striking blue eyes. Five slightly curved red horns surrounded its head. It had three pairs of black legs, its upper body covered in white downy fur, while its lower half was brown.
Seeing this, the three of them collectively let out a breath of relief. Smiles of joy and relief spread across their faces. They gently extended their hands, carefully stroking the newborn Pokémon as if welcoming it into the world. At that moment, the laboratory was filled with warmth and happiness, as if the entire world had become a better place with this new life's arrival.
"Click, click."
[Thank you… Thank you, everyone.]
"Click, click, click."
[Finally… I've met you, Jiang Yu.]
A clear, pleasant, and youthful voice echoed in their minds.
The initial happiness on their faces quickly turned into shock. Their eyes widened in disbelief, as if they had just uncovered an astonishing secret.
The three of them exchanged glances.
"Who… who just spoke?"
"Did you hear that too?"
"This… this is…"
"Telepathy!!!" They all shouted in unison.
"I've never seen a newborn Pokémon use Telepathy this proficiently," Fang Yu murmured in awe.
"This child's talent is simply terrifying," Xia Shuhua added.
For the first time in days, a genuine smile appeared on Jiang Yu's exhausted face. He extended a single finger, making his movements as gentle as possible.
The Larvesta seemed to understand his intentions. She raised her small front legs and lightly touched his fingertip.
At that moment, it felt as though a subtle current ran between them.
Jiang Yu could clearly feel the warmth from Larvesta's tiny legs. It wasn't just physical warmth—it was the heat of life itself, strong and brimming with vitality.
He quietly embraced this special connection, letting the emotion ripple through his heart. He knew that this moment would become one of his most cherished memories—a moment he would treasure forever.
---
Jiang Yu quickly took out the Moomoo Milk he had prepared in advance. The Larvesta smelled the delicious scent and eagerly started drinking.
"This Larvesta seems too big, doesn't it? A newborn Larvesta shouldn't be this large," Fang Yu commented, arms crossed in thought.
It wasn't entirely his fault for being uncertain—Larvesta was an extremely rare Pokémon, and the available research on it was limited. However, based on known data, the average height of a Larvesta was about 1.1 meters, meaning a newly hatched one should be much smaller.
"The height of this Larvesta... it's close to two meters? Could it be because of the two energies?" Xia Shuhua asked in astonishment.
"Sometimes, physical size reflects potential. I remember seeing a Champion-level Charizard that was nearly three meters tall in an international competition, even though the average height of a Charizard is only 1.7 meters. This just proves how exceptionally talented this child is," Fang Yu said thoughtfully.
Jiang Yu was 1.8 meters tall.
Xia Shuhua was 1.67 meters.
Fang Yu was 1.65 meters.
And yet, they found themselves looking up at a nearly two-meter-tall Larvesta, who was happily drinking her milk.
There was something undeniably strange about this scene.
Jiang Yu finally took a moment to check Larvesta's status.

Sure enough, even though she had successfully hatched, her condition had not changed—her life was still fading.
Worse yet, her birth seemed to have accelerated the process.
Sensing something, Larvesta suddenly locked eyes with Jiang Yu.
A glimmer of determination flickered within her gaze.
Even though she knew she was dying, she refused to give up hope.
Jiang Yu understood the message behind her eyes.
A confident smile returned to his face.
Yes. A single spark could start a wildfire.
And she would become the sun.
"It's decided then—it's you, Larvesta!"
Jiang Yu swiftly pulled out a Ultra Ball from his waist and tossed it toward Larvesta.
Larvesta sensed his determination, allowing herself to be enveloped by the radiant glow of the Ultra Ball.
With a final flash of light, the capture was complete.
Jiang Yu immediately released her back into the open.
"Come out, Larvesta!"
"Click~"
As if in response to Jiang Yu's unwavering resolve, Larvesta would prove to the world—
She was not just a miracle.
She would become a legend.
