Chapter 3: Chapter 3: First Pokémon
When the day finally arrived for Jiang Yu to visit the training center and pick his first Pokémon, he was so excited that he couldn't sleep the night before. He got up early, unable to contain his anticipation.
For any Pokémon enthusiast, the dream of having a Pokémon of their very own was unparalleled.
With excitement even greater than when taking the college entrance exam, Jiang Yu finally stepped out of the house.
After a short walk, he arrived at the training center—only to be greeted by a sea of people. The training center itself wasn't the first thing that caught his eye, but rather the excited young faces filled with anticipation.
Jiang Yu quickly spotted the Xicheng No. 1 Senior High School gathering area and immediately noticed his close friends.
"Jiang Yu, over here! Over here!" Wen Hao shouted while waving his hands.
---
As they waited, Wen Hao turned to Su Qianqian.
"Qianqian, have you decided which Pokémon to choose?"
"I'll probably choose a Grass-type Pokémon," Su Qianqian replied. "Most Grass-types are gentle, and they're also the type that the Pokémon Association mainly promotes. There should be more choices available."
Su Qianqian's parents were intermediate-level breeders, and their family specialized in support-oriented Pokémon. Given her choice, it was clear she planned to follow in her parents' footsteps.
"What about you, Wen Hao?" Jiang Yu asked curiously.
"I'm definitely going with a Fighting-type! A real man should have a strong punch!" Wen Hao grinned, flexing his impressively muscular arm. Even from two meters away, Jiang Yu could feel his burning fighting spirit.
At 1.85 meters tall, Wen Hao was quite tall for a high school student. His masculine appearance and well-defined abs made him a school heartthrob, with countless admirers. Considering his father was Xicheng's Fighting-type Gym Leader, it was no surprise that he chose the Fighting-type.
"What about you, Jiang Yu? Want to choose a Fighting-type too? We can have a battle between men!"
"Fighting-type? That's an option, but I need to take a look first," Jiang Yu replied thoughtfully.
Because of the system and his mission, he couldn't pick a Pokémon carelessly. Unless he had a strong personal preference, he needed to maximize his benefits by choosing the best quality Pokémon available.
As the three of them chatted, it was finally time for the students from Xicheng No. 1 High School to enter.
---
The Training Center
The Pokémon Training Center's main hall was massive—about the size of two playgrounds—and filled with various machines.
To the left, students lined up while teachers led them in groups. After some discussion with the staff, students entered in an orderly fashion based on their class.
Jiang Yu's class went in first.
A kind but dignified-looking woman stepped forward and addressed the students.
"Let me repeat the Pokémon selection process."
"First, each student may choose only one Pokémon."
"If you don't know which one to pick, ask a teacher for guidance. Also, you have a time limit. If you don't make a selection within the allotted time, the computer will assign you a Pokémon randomly."
"Lastly, and most importantly: Once you have chosen your Pokémon, your bond with it is formed. Any form of Pokémon abuse or abandonment is strictly prohibited."
"Any questions?"
"No!" The students replied impatiently, eager to begin.
"Alright, then swipe your student ID to enter in order."
Beep!
Wen Hao quickly scanned his card and rushed into the Fighting-type room without hesitation.
Su Qianqian turned to Jiang Yu. "I'm heading to the Grass-type Pokémon first. See you later!"
"Alright."
Jiang Yu, on the other hand, walked straight to the Fire-type room.
Why not the Dragon-type room? Even in this advanced society, Dragon-type Pokémon were incredibly rare. Most were difficult to tame and highly aggressive, so the Pokémon Association did not provide them to students.

Fire-type Pokémon
As soon as Jiang Yu pushed open the Fire Room's door, a wave of hot air blasted him in the face. He frowned slightly but quickly walked in.
Immediately, Pokémon data flooded his mind.

Jiang Yu was surprised. Some of these Pokémon knew moves far beyond their level—a sign that their parents were quite powerful.
Still, he felt a bit disappointed. There were no Cyndaquil or Litten.
But then—
"Huh?"

A Fuecoco? That was unexpected.
However, it wasn't within Jiang Yu's top choices.
After a quick scan of the Fire-type room, he moved on to the Water-type room.

"There are quite a few of the 'Big Three' this year."
Jiang Yu noted as he moved quickly through the selection.
---
He continued checking the Grass, Rock, and Ground-type rooms, but none of the Pokémon stood out to him.
Charmander and Rowlet, however, were perfect choices for Wen Hao and Su Qianqian—he'd inform them later.
Jiang Yu quickly checked the Steel and Flying-type rooms before finally arriving at the Bug-type room.
Bug Pokémon were naturally weaker, being countered by common types like Flying, Fire, and Rock. Although they evolved quickly, their lifespans were short, so Jiang Yu never really considered them.
Of course, there were exceptions to this rule.
Just as he was about to leave, a Hazelnut Ball (Seedot) jumped onto a tree, revealing something hidden behind it.
For a moment—time seemed to freeze.
Jiang Yu stopped in his tracks, staring at the egg that had just been uncovered.
His expression froze.
He was speechless.
"How… How could this egg be here?!"
This… This was a Pokémon even rarer than a pseudo-legendary…
—A legendary Pokémon born from the sun itself!
