"Success!"

Lian glanced at his move list and noticed that apart from his existing Fire-type moves, a new one called Flame Burst had been added, albeit appearing dimmed.

This was because Lian had comprehended it within the system's space using his exceptional control power. Consequently, he couldn't yet execute Flame Burst in reality without relying on Combat Points. Without utilizing Combat Points, he would need extensive practice in real-world scenarios to successfully unleash Flame Burst.

With 10 Combat Points available, there was no need to conserve them, so he immediately activated the Flame Burst move. This represented another new Fire-type move under his command. Although Flamethrower remained his primary offensive technique, Flame Burst's explosive characteristic proved highly useful. It introduced a novel form of fire elemental energy release, sparking numerous ideas for Lian.

Lian was now beyond just executing basic moves; different moves could often have remarkably diverse applications. Earlier today, he encountered a Trainer whose Water-type Pokémon, Azumarill, used Water Gun towards the ground. By harnessing the reactive force of the water stream, it propelled itself into the air, evading Lian's Flamethrower effortlessly.

Thus, the utilization of attack moves should not be limited solely to offense; there are various creative ways to employ them, depending on the Trainer's imaginative thinking.

Lian had numerous ideas himself, such as enveloping his entire body with flames to create a flame shield, forming a fire-based shield, generating a pair of flame wings, compressing flames into a ball for explosive projectiles, and more.

While he had many concepts, only a few were truly feasible. Aside from requiring precise energy control, most needed adaptation based on real-time situations, which could only be practiced during actual battles. The execution of moves should not be rigid; instead, they must be flexible and responsive to environmental factors.

After mastering Flame Burst, Lian planned to practice other Fire-type moves. There weren't many easy-to-learn Fire-type techniques left.

"Let's try out Fire Punch."

Currently, several advanced Fire-type moves were beyond Lian's reach due to their high demand for fire elemental energy. Moves like Heat Wave, Fire Blast, etc., require vast amounts of Fire-type energy. Although powerful, Lian couldn't learn them yet because his level was too low.

Although Fire Punch is primarily an offensive move, if mastered, it would expand Lian's repertoire of Fire-type attacks. Learning more Fire-type moves can also enhance his overall control over fire elemental energy.

The next day at the Battle Tower, sixth floor.

After using Dragon Rage to block his opponent's Psybeam, Lian swiftly unleashed Flamethrower, engulfing the enemy Medicham with intense flames.

Through numerous practical trials, Lian discovered that employing Dragon Rage to counter opponents' ranged attacks creates energy fluctuations, momentarily affecting their line of sight. This allowed him to quickly follow up with Flamethrower, making it difficult for the opponent to dodge. Additionally, he himself remained safe from being hit by their moves.

The only drawback was that this strategy took more time compared to defeating an opponent with a single combo move sequence, which felt more satisfying. However, it proved more practical, especially against Pokemon skilled in special attack moves.

Lian intentionally reversed the order of his move combinations, enhancing flexibility. Kalia also endorsed this adaptable approach and frequently used it during battles.

With one Flamethrower, Lian defeated the opposing Medicham. Suddenly, he sensed some changes within his body.

He had leveled up.

Lian was certain; each level-up now significantly increased his ability values across all attributes. Therefore, whenever he leveled up, he could distinctly feel these changes.

It had been several days since his last level-up, so finally reaching this milestone wasn't easy. He anticipated future advancements would become increasingly slower, requiring higher-intensity battles to accelerate growth.

Having defeated her opponent's Medicham, Kalia secured another victory. Skillfully, she proceeded to the healing room to tend to her Pokemon's injuries.

Later that evening.

Lian eagerly entered the system space and examined his attributes panel. After reaching level 27, his Special Attack ability surpassed one thousand points, now at 1,006, while speed reached 918.

Breaking the thousand-point barrier in Special Attack significantly enhanced Lian's overall strength, with notable improvements across other abilities as well.

"What's going on here?" Lian's gaze fell upon the moveset section, revealing a surprised expression, somewhat taken aback.

Moves: ..., Flamethrower, Flame Burst, Bite

Rubbing his eyes to confirm, he realized he indeed learned Bite. More importantly, Bite wasn't listed as dimmed but directly shown as learned.

Could it be from frequently battling Moka's Umbreon, witnessing Bite so often, that he managed to learn it?

Lian felt puzzled; typically, Charmeleons cannot naturally learn Bite; they would need to inherit it through breeding.

Inheritance move? Could Bite possibly be an inherited move? A thought popped into his mind—if it were indeed an inherited move, it made sense. However, for inheritance moves to occur, the previous generation must possess specific traits unique to certain Pokemon species.

In other words, it's possible that Lian's father might not be a Charizard, but rather his mother is a Charizard, and he inherited the move from his father.

This realization hit Lian for the first time - in this world, he should indeed have parents, potentially consisting of a Charizard and another unknown dragon-type Pokémon.

It sparked a slight curiosity within him, but with no memories prior to waking up in Kana Forest, he had absolutely no recollection of his past.

Well, regardless of who they are...

However, wouldn't it have been better to inherit a more powerful move? What use is just one dark-type Bite move? Lian suspects that learning Bite so suddenly may be due to frequently observing Umbreon using it, triggering deep ancestral memories; otherwise, it could have taken much longer to acquire the skill.

Considering Bite isn't particularly useful, Lian didn't dwell on it and instead focused on Rock Resistance. As expected, it reached 1.8. He was almost out of energy cubes made from Charti Berries, and further enhancing Rock Resistance with these cubes would yield diminishing returns.

By now, Lian had accumulated a significant number of Combat Points through his diligent efforts over the past few days. He amassed a total of 10,161 Combat Points, achieved over exactly three days, averaging around 3,000 Combat Points per day.

With these ten thousand Combat Points, Lian could significantly enhance his Rock Resistance and even have some points left to improve other abilities.

Hey!

Just as he was about to upgrade, Lian noticed something at the bottom of the Energy Control Ratings. Apart from Fire, Normal, and Dragon types, there appeared an additional Dark-type Energy Control Rating, with a surprising 2% already achieved.

What's going on?

Lian was taken aback; merely inheriting the dark-type move Bite had granted him a 2% Energy Control Rating for that type. He wondered if this increase was due to inheritance or acquiring the Bite move itself.

A sudden realization struck him. Previously, he had been puzzled by how the Energy Control Rating could decrease. Now, he formed a hypothesis.

Learning moves of different attributes might potentially increase the corresponding Energy Control Rating. However, under normal circumstances, these attribute energies were not particularly useful for Lian, so he wouldn't typically spend Combat Points to enhance them. If the Control Rating decreased instead, what would happen?

Since Combat Points can be used to increase Control Ratings, what if one reduces them? Would the system provide any feedback, such as returning Combat Points?
