Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 143: Chapter 143: Evolution

"Is this a Pokémon Egg?!"

As the dark mist completely dissipated, Ron looked at the pitch-black, egg-shaped object on the ground. For a moment, he couldn't be certain what it was.

Ron had previously learned about the dangers of Ghost-type Pokémon from League records. However, none of the material he had studied mentioned that evil Ghost-types would transform into Pokémon Eggs after being defeated.

Considering some legends about naturally malevolent Ghost-types, Ron began to suspect that such Pokémon might be hatched from these peculiar eggs.

With this in mind, Ron initially wanted to destroy the egg immediately but hesitated.

If what hatched wasn't an evil Ghost-type but instead a normal Gastly, Ron could raise it from infancy, ensuring it grew into a trustworthy Ghost-type companion.

After some deliberation, Ron decided to place the egg in an incubator and consult Shadow for advice.

If the egg proved problematic, Ron wouldn't hesitate to destroy it. However, if it turned out to be harmless, it could become a valuable addition to his team.

After disposing of the man's body, Ron returned to battling with Machamp while awaiting Shadow's response. That reply would determine the egg's fate: destruction or preservation.

Following the Gengar's attack, Kirlia silently expanded her psychic surveillance range to 50 meters.

With this enhanced range, Ron would have enough time to react if someone approached, preventing situations like the previous surprise attack by Gengar that forced a retreat.

Navigating unimpeded, Ron intentionally avoided other trainers in the forest.

For him, the fastest way to grow stronger was to sweep through wild Pokémon battles. Battling trainers was less reliable due to their unpredictable strength and potential personality conflicts, which could lead to unnecessary trouble.

Through intense combat, Machamp soon reached the final level of its training regimen, even learning a new move, Bulk Up.

Bulk Up: Increases both Attack and Defense stats by one stage each.

After finishing Machamp's training, Ron headed toward the forest's outskirts in search of suitable opponents for Nidorino.

After weeks of rest and preparation, Nidorino was ready to resume leveling up through battles.

Ron's initial plan for Nidorino was to raise its level as high as possible, ideally to level 29. This would allow Nidorino to adapt to its new power after evolution before attempting to break through to the elite tier.

Originally, Ron considered letting Nidorino evolve only after reaching the elite tier and stabilizing.

However, plans often fail to keep up with changes. Nidorino's progress in learning Shave was far too slow. While Ron didn't mind, Nidorino's frustration was evident.

Watching Kirlia, a newer team member, surpass it in mastering Shave and other Six Powers techniques, Nidorino couldn't help but feel left behind. Unlike Bellossom's tranquil mindset, Nidorino struggled to stay composed.

To address this, Ron decided to have Nidorino evolve at level 29, accelerating its mastery of a simplified version of Shave. Once it broke through to the elite tier, Nidorino could then fully master the technique.

With this goal in mind, Nidorino threw itself into battles with great determination.

Whenever Kirlia found an opponent, Nidorino swiftly entered battle mode.

Though eager to charge in, Nidorino stayed put, awaiting Ron's command, thanks to the training and guidance Ron had provided during Machamp's battles.

While Nidorino lagged in mastering Shave, it still outclassed most wild Pokémon in speed. Only particularly swift opponents could pose a challenge.

Regarding the mysterious egg suspected to be from Gengar, Shadow finally provided input.

Shadow's research revealed that Ron's encounter was exceedingly rare. Even with his access, Shadow couldn't find documentation of such an event.

Shadow recommended Ron try hatching the egg. If the resulting Pokémon proved harmless, Ron could raise it. If it were malevolent, it would be no match for Ron's trained team.

Ron found Shadow's advice aligned perfectly with his own thoughts, though he lacked the courage to tease Shadow about it. Instead, he accepted the advice with a smile.

From then on, Ron cared for the egg as attentively as he had for Torchic, all while managing Torchic's growth.

Thankfully, Torchic was nearing the end of its juvenile stage. Otherwise, Ron would have struggled to juggle battles with Nidorino and his duties as a caregiver.

"Nidorino, Flamethrower—Spread!"

Blazing flames erupted, quickly spreading into a ring that encircled Scyther.

Seeing that the flames weren't directly attacking, Scyther charged forward with Quick Attack, targeting Nidorino.

To quickly defeat opponents and save time, Ron had devised a strategy with Nidorino specifically to counter melee-focused Pokémon like Scyther.

First, use a dispersed attack to bait the opponent into closing the distance.

Then, with Ron's Fighting Aura guiding him to read the opponent's movements, Nidorino would launch a preemptive strike.

Most Pokémon, caught off guard by their own momentum, would appear to run directly into Nidorino's attack.

The scorching flames disrupted Scyther's assault, leaving it vulnerable to Nidorino's relentless Flamethrower.

Though simple, this strategy required two key elements:

One, the Pokémon's high mastery of its moves to ensure quick, consecutive attacks.

And two, Ron's Fighting Aura, enabling precise tracking of even the fastest opponents.

As Nidorino unleashed Flamethrower relentlessly, it could almost feel evolution calling.

"Alright, Nidorino, that's enough. You've already won," Ron said, stopping Nidorino before it overdid the flames. Scyther looked almost roasted.

After clearing the battlefield, Ron had Kirlia teleport them to a secluded spot.

When Ron brought out the Moon Stone, Nidorino immediately felt its pull.

Placing the Moon Stone on Nidorino's forehead, a radiant glow enveloped it, signaling the beginning of its evolution.
