Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 139: Chapter 139: Farewell

The rumble of thunder echoed endlessly in Ron's ears. Even though he was now a safe distance away, he could still feel faint electrical shocks surging across his body, leaving a tingling sensation in their wake.

As the lightning dissipated, Lt. Surge's Raichu and Volkner's Luxray were simultaneously hurled backward, both rendered unable to battle.

"A draw?"

"That's right. It's a draw," Volkner replied with a hint of reluctance as he looked at his defeated Luxray. In contrast, Lt. Surge maintained his resolute expression.

However, beneath the surface, Lt. Surge's emotions were in turmoil.

First, Ron had surprised him, then both Flint and Volkner had come along—one defeating him outright and the other fighting him to a draw.

Yet, as someone who had managed to infiltrate the Pokémon League and become a Gym Leader, Lt. Surge's composure and steadiness were undeniable. He wouldn't let such surprises show on his face.

From the stands, Ron watched the battles unfold. Although he wasn't sure if Flint and Volkner had used their strongest Pokémon, the outcomes clearly illustrated the gap between the two.

But Ron wasn't in a position to judge. Just witnessing such battles had taught him numerous techniques, and for now, that was more than enough to satisfy him.

"Thank you for the match. Sorry to disturb you, we'll be taking our leave now," Volkner said, regaining his composure as he addressed Lt. Surge.

"Yes, it was a wonderful battle. I hope we'll have the chance to battle again in the future," Flint added in a more lighthearted tone as he followed Volkner's lead.

"It truly was an impressive match. I still have more challengers awaiting their turn for Gym battles, so I won't keep you any longer. I wish you a pleasant journey through the Kanto region," Lt. Surge replied in his usual professional manner, signaling his staff to escort Flint, Volkner, and Ron—now the proud owner of the Thunder Badge—out of the Vermilion Gym.

"Ron, are you coming with us next?" Flint asked as they exited the gym.

Eager to challenge all of Kanto's Gyms and seek out skilled trainers, Flint and Volkner were planning to leave Vermilion City immediately.

"No, I plan to stay in Vermilion City a bit longer. I won't be joining you this time," Ron replied after a moment's hesitation, politely declining their offer.

As Ron had considered before, he needed to maintain vigilance with everyone he encountered, even Flint and Volkner. Trust was a luxury he couldn't afford just yet.

Moreover, their travel directions diverged, and there was no compelling reason for Ron to follow them.

"Alright, then. We'll head out first. I hope the next time we meet, you'll have grown even stronger. Let's have another great battle then," Flint said.

"Take care," Volkner added briefly. However, the look in his eyes conveyed a deeper meaning that Ron couldn't ignore.

After bidding them farewell, Ron decided to stay in Vermilion City for an extra night to avoid any awkward encounters with them outside.

The next morning, Ron set out once again with Machamp and the rest of his team as part of his morning training routine, heading toward the vast forest.

Having spent considerable time training, Ron aimed to help his Pokémon make significant progress. For his elite-level Pokémon like Machamp, this goal seemed ambitious, but for Nidorino and Kirlia, it was entirely achievable.

"Come on out, Kirlia. From here on, you'll need to find wild Pokémon to battle on your own," Ron instructed.

Kirlia responded with a sweet smile before spreading her psychic powers to locate potential opponents.

Under the sweeping reach of her psychic abilities, the numerous wild Pokémon in the forest outskirts couldn't escape Kirlia's detection. Soon enough, she locked onto her first target.

With Teleport, Ron and his team closed the distance instantly.

For the wild Pokémon living near the forest's edge, Nidorino and Kirlia became their worst nightmares. As they basked in the sunlight, Kirlia would suddenly teleport Ron's team into their midst, leaving the wild Pokémon stunned and bewildered before the battle began.

Thanks to Fighting Aura, they could maintain their stamina, and with Teleport, travel time was significantly reduced, allowing for intense morning and pre-meal training sessions.

In just ten days, both Nidorino and Kirlia achieved substantial level-ups.

Nidorino rose from Level 23 to Level 28, learning the move Helping Hand, which could boost the power of an ally's move.

Kirlia progressed from Level 20 to Level 24, mastering Draining Kiss, which heals the user by the amount of damage dealt to the opponent.

Without hesitation, Ron decided to ban Kirlia from using Draining Kiss in battles, whether under his command or on her own.

"Young ladies shouldn't go around kissing people so casually!" Ron declared.

While Nidorino outpaced Kirlia in terms of levels, it was understandable given the limitations of psychic power on Kirlia's progress.

After ten days of battling, Ron shifted his focus to training Bellossom and the others.

Meanwhile, the Pokémon Egg Junpei had gifted Ron was close to hatching.

True to Junpei's words, Ron hadn't investigated the Egg's pattern to determine the species. He wanted to preserve the mystery.

As the Egg's hatching drew near, Ron couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement.

Entering an area inhabited by elite-level Pokémon, Ron lost track of time until midday. He decided to pause and eat before looking for a sparring partner for Bellossom.

Before that, Ron carefully cleaned the Pokémon Egg, nurtured it with his fighting aura, and returned it to the incubator before beginning to cook.

Unfortunately, before Ron could finish his meal, the aroma attracted elite-level wild Pokémon from the area.

Kirlia, honing her psychic powers, was the first to notice them. Soon, a Primeape emerged from the forest and saw the intruders eyeing its territory.

The sight reminded Ron of the Primeape-infested forest he had visited before, but that wasn't enough to make him hesitate.

"Bellossom, this one's yours," Ron commanded.

As he spoke, Machamp and Persian held back their battle instincts, leaving Primeape to Bellossom.

With a flash of green light, Bellossom executed a Shave – Hexagram Slash, leaping into action with graceful precision.
