Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 138: Chapter 138: The Orange Badge

"Go, Electrode!"

"It's your turn, Persian! Use Shadow Ball!"

The Ghost-type energy coalesced into a black-and-purple orb that Persian hurled forward. As it flew, the orb elongated into an oval shape, resembling an arrow.

"Electrode, counter with Thunderbolt!"

Electric currents crackled, shattering Persian's Shadow Ball.

Apparently neglecting the technique "Shave", Persian refrained from using it to close the distance. Instead, it charged directly at Electrode during its Thunderbolt attack.

"Electrode, use Thunder Shock!"

Golden-yellow electricity enveloped Electrode, forming an electric nucleus as it rushed rapidly toward Persian.

"Persian, Power Gem and Double Team!"

At Ron's command, the red gem on Persian's forehead emitted a dazzling light, forcing Electrode to instinctively shut its eyes. The force of Thunder Shock was nullified by the Power Gem.

"Electrode, shake it off and use Thunderbolt all around you!"

Despite its discomfort, Electrode obeyed Lt. Surge's directive, releasing electrical currents to dissipate Persian's illusions.

Under the intense scrutiny of Lt. Surge's sharp gaze, Persian's fake illusions stood no chance of hiding.

Unfortunately, under the cover of Double Team, Persian had already prepared to use Shave.

"Now, Persian, Shave—Spoon!"

As the number of Persian's illusions dwindled and Electrode's electricity weakened, Ron's voice rang out sharply.

"Electrode, release Thunderbolt!"

Realizing the danger, Lt. Surge hurriedly gave Electrode the order, but it was already too late.

Using the cover of Double Team, Persian had swiftly closed the distance with Shave. At Ron's command, Persian struck ferociously.

Electrode, although quick to release its electric current, couldn't match Persian's speed.

Combining Slash with Shave, along with the bonus from the Sharp Claw, Persian unleashed a fast and ferocious attack, landing two critical hits on Electrode.

"Hold on, Electrode! Use Thunder!"

Lt. Surge's powerful voice echoed across the battlefield, but it failed to inspire Electrode as it usually did.

Under Persian's relentless barrage, Electrode's attempts to retaliate were repeatedly interrupted.

Persian maintained its offensive like a perpetual motion machine, forcing Electrode out of commission before finally ceasing its assault.

As the heavily scarred Electrode collapsed, Lt. Surge began to take Ron seriously.

Initially, he had dismissed Ron as just another ordinary trainer. Who could have predicted that, with one careless move, Persian would defeat Electrode so decisively?

"Raichu, you're up! Use Electro Ball for interference, then follow up with Charge Beam!"

Learning from his earlier mistake, Lt. Surge resolved to keep Persian at a distance, avoiding another close-range confrontation with its lightning-fast attacks.

In the audience, Flint and Volkner—aware of Persian's tactics—understood Ron's strategy.

The first round had been a ruse to mask Persian's use of Shave, leading Lt. Surge to believe it was a close-range-only technique.

When Lt. Surge sent out his second Pokémon, his instinct would be to maintain distance, making it easier for Persian to close in and end the battle abruptly.

Moreover, in previous gym battles, Lt. Surge rarely used Electric Terrain combined with Magnet Rise to lift Raichu into the air.

Typically, he employed this tactic only in prolonged battles. But against Persian's offensive onslaught, Flint and Volkner doubted Raichu would find an opportunity to take to the skies.

"Persian, Shave—Flash!"

Seeing Raichu unleash Electro Ball, Ron didn't give it a chance to attack. Persian disappeared in a flash, leaving behind a dazzling trail of light.

"Raichu, use Thunder! Fire it straight ahead!"

Lt. Surge, startled by Persian's speed, hastily ordered Raichu to counter.

From his perspective, Raichu, at an elite mid-tier level and a robust Level 41, had the power to withstand attacks from Persian, an elite low-tier Pokémon.

Lt. Surge wasn't entirely wrong—Level 41 was within the range of Pokémon Persian could defeat with skillful maneuvers. Ron, too, believed Persian could overcome Raichu.

As Persian broke through Raichu's attack, it felt its fur bristling with accumulated electric energy.

Fortunately, Electrode's ability, Soundproof, had prevented Persian from being hindered earlier. Otherwise, the constant attacks on Electrode, followed by a direct clash with Raichu's Electric-type moves, might have resulted in paralysis-like effects.

"Raichu, Volt Tackle!"

"Persian, Hypnosis! Shave—Shadow Spoon!"

Using Shave's speed, Persian closed in, bringing Raichu within Hypnosis's range. The incoming attack was interrupted by Persian's hypnosis.

Without hesitation, Persian vanished again, alternating between Shadow Claw and Slash as it executed relentless strikes enhanced by Shave.

The piercing pain from Slash, combined with the chilling sensation of Shadow Claw's Ghost-type energy, overwhelmed Raichu.

Finally, Persian delivered a decisive Slash with Shave, sending Raichu flying.

Raichu's body bore countless scars, a testament to the ferocity of Persian's attacks.

As Raichu hit the ground, it was unclear whether it had lost its fighting ability or had fainted from the sheer pain.

"Congratulations, Challenger. The Orange Badge is yours."

Despite his lingering shock at Persian's speed, Lt. Surge fulfilled his duties, handing the Orange Badge to Ron.

After using fighting aura to help Persian recover, Ron returned it to its Poké Ball.

Next, he began waiting for Flint and Volkner to step up.

When Flint and Volkner stated their intentions, Lt. Surge didn't refuse. After assessing their strength, he led them to another area of the gym.

Compared to elite-tier Pokémon, elite four level Pokémon boasted not only greater power but also far more destructive capabilities.

The battlefield used earlier in Ron's match couldn't withstand such strength and would likely be destroyed.

To save on costs, using a battlefield designed for elite four level Pokémon was a wiser choice.

"I'll go first!"

"Go, Infernape!"

Eagerly stepping onto the battlefield, Flint's fiery disposition and red hair matched his specialty as a Fire-type trainer.

In contrast, Volkner, a specialist in Electric-types, exuded calmness and composure—a trait that might explain how the two became close friends and effective partners.

Before Ron could contemplate further, Lt. Surge released his own Pokémon.

A elite four-level battle was about to begin.
