Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead

Chapter 1010: Encroaching

Each of the rulers of the superpowers were special existences in their own rights, having been ruling the greatest forces for decades each, their rule was unquestionable, and unshakable.

Ronarkatast was a most ancient dragon who had become one with the power of draconic breath, allowing him to leave behind the need to rely on pesky life force to operate as a thinking being.

Similarly, Moilirus Poisseon had also become one with the way of power she practised, transcending past the need to be a living in the strictest of senses, the very sea bowed to her will now.

And once again, the same was true as well for Artratac Dursol, having become paragon of the faith that united Durter, a very avatar of the belief in the underground.

Amidst that line-up, the two leaders of Lefaux stood as black sheeps, for they were born as beings not reliant on life force, although their continent was certainly booming with it, both of the principal populations were beings that had no need for it.

They didn't have anything to transcend, but it did not mean that they were any lesser than their contemporaries, sapient golems and pure spirits were naturally powerful, the former existed more than as just physical beings formed out of various materials, though, what they did choose as their preferred vessels would become manipulable to great heights.

As for pure spirits, they were capable of wielding the purest form of certain elemental energies, some were even capable of manipulating the purest form of entire categories of energy as a whole rather than just subsets of it.

The predecessors of Gargantax Torh and Pylhta Hilio, for example, had been bonded to the entire soil of the continent, and could wield the purest form of mana respectively.

The two new rulers had no affiliation to those two however, although a marriage was carried out between the two main clans to ensure peace, due to the rather drastic difference between them, the chances of procreation were basically null, everybody knew to never say never in the world they lived in, but throughout the entire history of Lefaux, never had a child been born out of royal union.

As such, whenever it was necessary, both sides would pick a male and female that were considered their best, and from there, it would be decided who became queen, and who became king…

Today, like their contemporaries had already done, were doing, or would soon do, they had called for a meeting, gathering all of the most influential people of the continent in a single place, atop a stone platform that was overgrown with vegetation, one could see with the naked eye, streams of pure energies floating through the air here.

"Greetings to everyone, as you must know, we are to discuss the Undead Empire" the Pure Spirit Queen was the first to speak, resembling nothing more than a bundle of colourful orbs and dots, indeed, she only assumed a humanoid form when discussing with people from beyond Lefaux as they were unlikely to be used to talking bundle of energies.

"What is it with them, Your Highness? I was under the impression that our diplomatic relationship to them was stable" a fiery mass of pure flames spoke in an unexpectedly calm tone, manifesting the semblance of an arm to signify that he was the one speaking.

"You would be correct, Falgalor, our relationship with the Empire is very good on all points, however, I think that we all know that their efforts in conquest have not ceased in the least, they are only being slowed down by the world's ambient life force, but in essence, they are definitely still trying their hardest to expand their territory, and grow their population by absorbing livings into undeath, unfortunately, despite our lack of life force, we are not immune to this treatment, we have all seen the diplomats they have sent…"

Pylhta Hilio marked a pause, and Gargantax Torh swiftly picked up where she left off.

"...Indeed, although we could see them sending sapient golems and pure spirits of their own here as a sign of goodwill, it is, in fact, easier to see it as a thinly veiled threat, demonstrating that they can make use into undeads as well, and it does not help that the gravelord they have sent a few times just so happens to be one who specialises in turning those like us into vampires" he said, his voice heavy.

"Your Highness, I understand the worry, but this has been the case from the start, and we have been doing our utmost to prepare against an invasion since then, surely, this is not the true topic of this meeting, is it?" a sapient golem formed entirely out of water questioned, and the king nodded, the tree growing upon his back swaying a bit.

"Hon- I mean, My Queen, if you will" he said, it was hard to tell since she was just a collection of floating orbs that faded in and out of existence, but Pylhta Hilio pierced him with a sharp gaze for a solid second before speaking up.

"Whilst I was managing the various elemental and energy realms, I distinctively noticed that, in some of them, there was a distinct attempt from an outside group to intrude upon these realms, I do not need to precise, but yes, that group is the Undead Empire, they are attempting to extend their reach into the elemental and energy realms as well, right as we are speaking" she said, causing a flurry of gasps to erupt as the various sapient golems and pure spirits looked at one another before one of them spoke up.

"Your Highness, that is unacceptable! We need to stop them!"

"Are you crazy? You want to start a conflict with the Undead Empire right now? It is far too early!"

"But we can't let our realms be colonised, can we?"

"One moment please" the fiery pure spirit from before, momentarily, turned into a bright white flame, attracting the attention to himself.

"I know that it might sound wrong, but not only is it indeed too early for us to look for problems with the Empire, but also, those realms are not our official properties, we can not start a righteous conflict of defence, and thus, it would be difficult to convince the other superpowers to agree to assist us, as it stands, if they wanted more time to prepare against the undeads themselves, they might instead choose to ally with the Empire against us!" he said, causing whispers and murmurs to arise from everyone present.

"Mmh, that is not wrong… How about we simply ask for a meeting with the undeads, and kindly ask them not to do that? I am certain that they too do not want a war to start right now, they would rather spend their time preparing for future war, so surely, it should be possible to strike a deal" the water sapient golem, whose name was Argaxpar added her own thoughts.

"Then, we shall seek out a meeting with King Nitok and Queen Liameilos" the pure spirit queen announced her decision, the sapient king nodding in agreement.

No one dared to raise an objection.
