Chapter 1011: Show
"Loimos! Do you think we should actively seek out the escapees from the Emerald Realm? They ran away again from right under our noses! That calls for a punishment, does it not? I know that you slaughtered the majority of their fighting force, but who knows what they could get down to right now? So I say that we find them and murder them all!" One was like a strand of lightning, moving around the pure undead and speaking like excited to the utmost limits.
One could say that this energetic behaviour was certainly due to the perceived threat that Maliah represented in the vampiress's quest toward his nonexistent baculum, after all, it wasn't like Loimos had any aversion toward melding death force with someone else, he did not care for a second, especially since he was the one who had introduced this method of producing undeadlings, if anything, logic dictates that he should have been the one to start in the first place.
Alas, his festering death force was simply far too powerful for any female undead to handle, they would just pop out of existence, and since Loimos's death force was linked so thoroughly to his being, whenever he got a slight bit more powerful or learned a new way of power, his death force grew in might as well.
Before, One could at least cope by thinking that it was alright if she didn't get what she wanted, as long as no one else did- But here comes Maliah with her valiant sacrifice, if there was any female undead with any chances to ever be capable of handling the festering death force, it would be her, not only had she always been incredibly powerful.
But that increased after becoming an undead, and she was growing stronger every passing second too! So every second that passed, it was like a countdown for the vampire, reminding her that perhaps, just maybe, Maliah might become capable of what she herself was not.
"One, you need to relax, I am not going to steal him from you" the assassin, with her metallic lower jaw, spoke a few words in an attempt to get the vampiress to regain her cool, but it was not very effective.
"Huh huh? Don't- Don't think I do not know what goes on in that head of yours, Death Dealer! You think I am an idiot? I know very well what you did back then, I know why you were supposedly out of commission for a while after the re-"
"I have no idea what you are talking about! Come on, One- If you really want those rotten bones for yourself, you should be trying to get more powerful to catch up to me"
"Come on, me? Becoming more powerful than you? I can't do that even with an eternity worth of time! You literally grow in power passively, and I am just a whatever-generation sunwalking vampire that hails from the blood of a filthy traitor that never properly awakened his vampiric blood!"
Whilst the vampire and assassin were having a conversation that was typical for the two of them, Loimos was personally sifting the details of just about everything that had happened in the Empire and world during his absence, Ourlst, Horhir, Carnifex and Dimios might have told him a lot, but it still wasn't everything.
Moreover, things like realms were being discovering on the weekly, some realms also had the habit of only showing themselves at fixed intervals, leading to some of them being discovered after the miasma had already spread over the area, there were also the efforts to reach realms that had no gateways just hanging around.
The Emerald Realm had been one of such realms, they had needed to create a pathway into it, and that had only been possible because Loimos had extracted the 'seed' that would have normally transported Griar had he not been slain beforehand.
Carving a way into realms like this was not usually this simple, as proof as since the Emerald Realm, there had been no success whatsoever in that regard, advancements had been made, but the objective remained unaccomplished nonetheless.
Loimos looked through the hundreds of thousands of different reports in very little time, and then, began to walk away from the archives.
He placed one hand on each of the two women following him around, and all three seemed to just teleport right in front of the gateway to the Emerald Realm.
"Oh, is that the place? I never got to check it out- Shame that I can't kill anything though" Maliah was rather curious, having heard a lot about this particular realm, it was often cited as the greatest realm discovered until now the Empire.
Apparently, everything about it was grandiose and valuable.
Meanwhile, One was just rubbing the shoulder Loimos had just touched, but she swiftly broke out of that small trance.
"What are you looking for?"
"The place or device that was used for the livings to escape" and on these words, the trio stepped through, this was the first time here for the two women, and they both felt like something slapped them in the head as they stepped through, struck by the vibrant life force and spirit life of this realm.
Maliah had never experienced being an undead in an area rich in life force, but she adapted quickly.
"I had forgotten that it hadn't yet been filled with miasma…" commented One.
Nearly immediately after he entered, a flash of emerald light manifested in front of them, and there appeared the sun ancestor, Solzmimi.
The woman looked a bit dejected.
"What brings you here today, Loimos?" she asked, then looking at the other undeads accompanying him, raising an eyebrow as the typical smile worn by sun worshippers crept up.
"Oh wow, I didn't take Mister Pure Undead for that kind of man, two at once, really? And fresh ones at that, I would have imagined that you were more into disease-ridden piles of rot or, you know, skeletons- Wait a minute, how does that even work? Do you have an extra bone down there~?"
"I would like to know where and how the livings escaped from this realm" Loimos went straight to the point, but the question did not sour Solzmimi's expression as much as might have been expected, she just pouted exaggeratedly, which looked ridiculous on just a tall woman.
"You could at least pretend to engage with me for a bit, you know? Anyways… It's not like I can lie to you, follow me" the sun ancestor rolled her eyes, leading the way by simply walking.
