Chapter 64: Chapter 64: The Successor of Superalloy Darkshine
When Uncle Nate made his move, Vincent Fox frowned slightly.
That idiot Miles Song had just cursed him out and threatened to kill him, yet Uncle Nate still tried to save him?
Honestly, that was kind of pathetic.
But Vincent knew this was just who Uncle Nate was.
The man lived by a strict moral code.
A Taoist who believed it was his duty to exorcise evil and protect the innocent.
So when he saw a zombie killing someone, there was no way he would just stand by.
At that moment, however
Grandpa Ren, enraged by Uncle Nate's attack, turned and lunged at him!
His speed was terrifying.
Uncle Nate's face drained of color. He was still badly injured and could barely move, let alone dodge.
Watching the enraged flying zombie bear down on him, Uncle Nate's eyes flashed with grim resolve.
He was prepared to die.
But then
"Hmph."
A single cold snort from Vincent.
The sound echoed in the air.
Grandpa Ren flinched. His whole body shuddered. Fear flashed in his eyes, and he slammed to a halt like someone had hit the brakes.
All the killing intent around him suddenly vanished.
He lowered his head again and obediently returned to his docile posture.
Uncle Nate stood frozen, dumbfounded.
A single snort... had completely cowed a flying zombie?
Was this real?
"Go! Bite them," Vincent said casually, flicking his hand.
Grandpa Ren immediately looked delighted to be released. With a feral grin, he spun around and launched back toward the students from Godslayer Academy.
"You really have full control over that flying zombie?" Uncle Nate asked in shock. "What kind of Taoist technique are you using?"
"Taoist technique?" Vincent laughed and shook his head. "No technique. But Uncle Nate, these people deserve to die. Why stop them from getting what they asked for?"
Uncle Nate was silent for a moment, then replied solemnly, "To destroy evil and protect the innocent is the duty of a Taoist."
"Stubborn old man," Vincent replied, voice sharp. "Then today, change your rules. Just stand there and watch. If you interfere again… you'll die."
Uncle Nate's face turned pale.
But he couldn't argue.
Even if he fought with everything he had, he still wouldn't be able to stop the flying zombie.
…
"Ahh!!"
Another scream.
This time, it was Serena Wren. She'd been caught off guard, and Grandpa Ren's claw had slashed across her throat.
Blood gushed out like a fountain.
It likely hit her carotid artery.
There was no saving her.
Godslayer Academy had sent six students here.
In just a few minutes, two were already dead.
Now they finally understood the terrifying gap between themselves and a flying zombie.
"Elias Vale! Hold him off!!" Damon lawson bellowed.
He gripped the hilt of his sword tightly, preparing to unleash a big move.
Elias finally activated his true strength.
He clenched his fists, and with a loud crack, his muscles exploded in size, tearing his clothes apart.
Then he charged forward and wrapped his arms around Grandpa Ren.
Grandpa Ren's claws raked across Elias's back but left only faint scratch marks, not even breaking the skin.
Vincent's eyes gleamed with surprise.
He immediately recognized it.
Elias had inherited the strength of Superalloy Darkshine, the 11th-ranked S-Class hero.
Darkshine's muscles were absurdly developed and nearly impenetrable.
In terms of physical defense, he was the best among the S-Class.
And Elias was clearly starting to reach that level.
The next moment
Damon lawson's attack was ready.
"Move!"
At his shout, Elias leapt back.
Damon's body blurred like a shadow as he streaked toward Grandpa Ren.
"Atomic Slash!!"
Dozens of sword lights burst out and shredded through the zombie's body.
In an instant, Grandpa Ren's corpse was covered in sword cuts.
"Raaah!!"
It hurt him.
Damon's attack had finally done something.
Even Uncle Nate was stunned by what he was seeing.
That speed. That precision. Even he had never imagined a sword technique like this could exist.
But it still wasn't enough.
"ROAR!!"
Grandpa Ren howled in fury.
He ignored his wounds and charged at Damon lawson.
Damon's face went pale.
He stood frozen.
Not because he was scared.
But because that "Atomic Slash" had drained him of all energy.
He was a beginner. He couldn't possibly maintain the stamina of the real Atomic Samurai.
As the zombie barreled toward him
Elias leapt in once again.
He slammed into Damon, sending him flying out of the way, and threw himself into Grandpa Ren's path.
"I'll hold him! You guys run!!"
Elias shouted.
He'd finally realized none of them were a match for this thing.
Only he could slow it down.
Let the others escape.
Then he'd fall back himself.
That alone showed Elias had some backbone.
But he underestimated Grandpa Ren's rage.
Seeing Elias restrain him again, Grandpa Ren suddenly opened his massive, blood-drenched jaws.
And chomped down straight onto Elias's skull.
"Watch out!!" Uncle Nate shouted.
Too late.
Crunch!
A sickening crack rang out.
Elias's skull shattered between the zombie's jaws.
Compared to the real Superalloy Darkshine, Elias's defense was still far too weak.
Misjudging his own strength…
Cost him his life.
